My comments are not towards the North African NTs who are technically above the rest. I've watched Nigeria in this tournament and they haven't impressed me one bit. Physically, they're ahead of most other countries by a long shot, but tactically and technically, they're very poor. Just count how many wrong passes (very simple ones) they make, how many times they keep the ball too long trying to go for exhibitionist dribbles instead of distributing the ball off. A lot of the mistakes they make are unforced and due to their lousy first touch on the defence and the attack.

Their poor passing and the lousy first touch reflects the lack of maturity in their game... and passing it's not the only item of technique...

The exhibicionist dribbles are part of their playing style and have nothing to do with our conversation, so let's not talk about that (although their dribbles shows some of their technique)...

Tactically, they're very poor, and thats the only thing i agree with u.... technically, concerning for example to Ball Control, Dribbling & Trickeries.... they have big amounts of that..... :)

:| maybe some develop more muscles in their mid 20s but you don't get much taller.

Most people become fat. :(

lol :) that's right...

at 17, i was bigger than i am today, cause i used to do workout more often... today i'm 23 years old... i'm "smaller" than when i was 17 or 20... some people just don't need much workout to develop their muscles, it depends on one's organism... nowadays, i play futsal with boys much younger than me (below 20)... but many of them are bigger and heavier than i am (i'm 1.86 - 74 kgs)... and they're all mozambicans... and mozambicans are relatively smaller than the Nigerians... not much tho...

i hope some people get my point... :)

Coolies. I can see the slight contradiction in my statement about them being great dribblers yet, technically poor. African teams (the Nigerians especially) are known for their flair and great dribbling abilities, but sometimes, you can do the most difficult of circus tricks and not be able to control a simple lopped pass with either feet, chest , or stop a fast through ball with one touch, or keep your composure and protect the ball under pressure on either end with controlled close dribbling. Your speed, stamina, coordination and strength will erode with age, but your fundamentals (technical skill) won't because it's something you develop through years (in a system or by yourself) of repetition.

I couldn't agree with you here more, man. You see this sort of dispute in North America a lot with blacks and whites (with a lot of racist undertones, of course) in little league sports and high schools. White parents who are tired of their kids getting demolished (not saying this was the case in the under20s) by predominately black teams/ schools always complain about the size of the black kids......even when birth certificates are produced, they end up pulling their kids out of the leagues in futile protests. I don't wanna sound like Jimmy the Greek here, but maybe Blacks get muscle definition a lot easier than whites....doubt there's a scientific study that confirms this.

Plus, Nigerians are generally just big. Big, tall, and muscular people........even without weight training.

He means in the final of the Olympic games of Atlanta '96 were Nigeria won 3-2 over Argentina. I guess i can't complain so far 'cuz Argentina beaten 3 of what i considered the 4 hardest rivals(Colombia, Spain, Brazil and the other one for me was Netherlands).

Serious end up with the age thing, at any rate it doesn't matter now 'cuz they're in the final.

What happened in '96? One of, if not THE greatest moment in Nigerian, Olympic, and African football history:

Nigeria made Olympic football history by becoming the first African and non-European and South American team to win the gold medal. While the football tournament remained primarily an Under-23 competition, each of the 16 competing countries were allowed to use as many as three overage players in a compromise between FIFA and the International Olympic Committee.

Nigeria, coached by Dutchman Johannes Bonfrere, started their path to the final with a 1-0 victory over Hungary and a 2-0 win over Japan before completing the first round with a 1-0 loss to Brazil. The Africans then shut down Mexico and goalkeeper Jorge Campos, 2-0, in the quarter-finals to set up a pair of amazing matches.
Losing in the semi-finals to a favoured Brazilian side that boasted Bebeto, Ronaldo and Rivaldo, 3-1, Nigeria finally woke up in the 78th minute as Victor Ikpeba scored from 20 meters. As time was running out, captain Nwankwo Kanu took center stage, scoring in a scramble in front of the goal in the final minute to equalize. With extra-time barely three minutes out, Kanu fired home the game-winner from 16 meters to complete one of the great comebacks of international football history and in what many observers felt was the greatest Olympic match ever played.

As if trying to top themselves, the Nigerians then staged another miraculous comeback against Argentina in the gold-medal match in front of 86,117 spectators in the Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia.

The Argentins held a 2-1 advantage on goals by Claudio Lopez (third minute) and Hernan Crespo (tournament-best sixth goal on a penalty kick in the 50th minute) before the Nigerians equalized on Daniel Amokachi's shot in the 74th minute. With a minute remaining, Emmanuel Amunike pulled off some 11th-hour heroics as he took advantage of a botched offside trap and beat goalkeeper Pablo Cavallero from point-blank range for the winning goal in a 3-2 triumph. "I guarantee you that as I talk to you now, everyone in Africa is celebrating," forward Sunday Oliseh said. "There is no sleeping tonight. Everyone will be happy. This is for all the African countries."

Humm, btw... Nigeria, surprisingly, must be one of the teams with the lowest height average.... Apam, Adedeji, Owoeri, Abwo, Sambo, Atulewa.... are all under 1.61!

I don't like him managing South Korea right now, as I haven't seen any distinct style of play during his time here.

Sorry to burst your moment of hometown pride. :(

a little help for the retard... his is what i meant:

"tho he has a dutch nationality, tho he was born there, tho he has been living there since then... he has pure Ghanaian blood running thru his veins... "

can you explain us where's the contradiction there?!

well, anyway... you can say whatever you want, he still has pure ghanaian blood... not dutch... no discussion there, i think!

and i noticed you stopped arguing about that, and now you're concentrated on finding "possible" flaws in my writing... :nape:

keep up the good work... :ewan:

The fact that he has Ghanaian blood is not under dispute. In your initial post you referred to him as "the Ghanaian" even though he's Dutch. He was born in Holland, he has a Dutch passport and plays for the Dutch national team? What more does he have to do for you to consider him Dutch?

For the record, half the national team has Surinamees blood.
