Joe G can't even win against a hopeless, team without ambition like Man U. That was far from a park the bus performance from Man U. It was pretty even in terms of possession and Man U had almost twice more shots than City.

I know that was a League cup game but both teams were at almost full strength and when it comes to Man U v/s Man City, it doesn't matter whether this is the Champions league final or a friendly game.

Some people here were saying they were "surprised" or "amazed" at how quickly Joseph changed City. These football Einsteins assessed him way too quickly.

You must be pissed though that you seem to be using up all your good performances when they don't really matter. Winning this game was essential for you psychologically but in some ways progressing in the carling cup makes you the loser

I am happy to be out of it and feel no shame in losing to a full strength West Ham but I do hope this won't dent the confidence in the system which was built up on Sunday - would have been better To have just fielded an obviously reserve team I feel.

City's performance was very bad, and still bad after Aguero and Sterling came in.
But how on Earth were they at almost full strength? Maffeo, Aleix Garcia, Fernando, Sane, Iheanacho, Jesus Navas. 6 players (not including Caballero). None of these is a regular starter for City. The only changes Mou made from the basic XI are Carrick (and you've been telling us he deserves to start over Fellaini), Rojo and maaaaybe Mata. But apart from Rojo who's crap as a CB none of these comes close both as name and current ability to the unexperienced trio Pep started today. Expecting a "chill I was joking, I only wanted to piss off Joe fanboys" response.

Congrats for the win.

Edit: I don't get how Jesus Navas is still a top club player. Most predictable player I've ever seen.

Antonio Valencia vol 11 without strength.

But anyways agreed. We fielded our possible top lineup while City went with youth and players that haven't got much playing time so far.

So this victory over them might not be as incredible as some might think it is. But as a United fan it's kinda satisfying at least.

Whether they are regulars and start all games doesn't mean crap. They still fielded a strong team despite the 9 changes. Navas, Fernando, Sane etc may not be first team players but are still good enough to start. These 3 players alone cost a fucking 110 million Euros (20 + 40 + 50 million Euros). Ilheanacho is a very good striker, equivalent to Rashford IMO. They went a few games without Aguero and he scored a couple of goals.

The 2 players that validate your comment are Garcia and Maffeo but Maffeo had a fantastic game. Garcia was far from a liability; he was decent.

I'm not Dytza, but you're absolutely right. But to be honest when going from player to player, some of the players that Joe started are most likely not in his future plans.

As in Kompany (maybe), Fernando R., Jesus Navas (might be an utility player for them who knows).. While others who started besides Otamendi, Nolito and to some extent Iheanacho don't belong to his "right away plans" either. He's just slowly trying to integrate some of them into the squad (Sané), especially the youth. But now that chance has gone out of the window so he doesn't really have the chance to test those players out in some random cup matches. There's FA Cup but we'll see..

After losing 4-0 against Chelsea, this game against rivals City was important and I think the benefit we get from this game (i.e. psychologically) outweighs the harms. If we had loss 1-0 against Chelsea then I wouldn't mind a reserve/weaker team.

Pep didn't give a shit about yesterday's game. He needs to win the next game in EPL and take a point from Barça in less than 1 week so I understand why he played with that team.

Cograts to ManU but dont fool yourselves. Aleix Garcia was a liability. Navas is done with football, Sane is not a starter and Iheanacho is too young to make a difference in a team like that. The midfield was a disaster.

Sane is a ladybody like Thiago Silva.

Of course Guardiola gave a shit about hte natch, just because he used 30M "reserve playerrs" doesn't necessarjly mean that.

And say one bad word about about Iheanacho, the guy is class.

Jesus Navas is rubbish I agree, he should go back to Sevilla.

Obviously Pep would have wanted to win but won't care very much about going out of this cup - he will be concerned about the current streak and lack of wins, however. It was not exactly a full strength team but it was not a depleted side either - they were mostly players you would expect to feature in the first team in some capacity/depth players. It was slightly less of a 'first team' than man Utd put out, if that matters.

West Brom away is up next for pep and there is the potential to drop points there too.

I like the way pochettino handles these cups (Europa too sometimes) - just throws out reserves and academy kids so he can get out of the cup without anyone reading anything into the defeat.
