Oh yes, because "money making" and "advertising" are not part of European soccer.Kezman8 said:I hope the Czech Republic kicks U.S's sorry money making-advertising-in-order-to-get-support-from-a-dumb-public ASS.
Are you Serbian? And for your sake, I hope the answer is "no."Kezman8 said:They should stick to what they do best: bombing nations.
El Diablo Rojo said:Actually as far as i know there will be a Basketball world cup, the last was won by Yugoslavia after they won the final over Argentina.
Also there's a Baseball world cup and if i recall correctly the champion was Cuba.

Titanic said:Two things.
1) It doesn't matter that Argentina won the last time national teams represented their countries. For some reason the best players in the United States don't find it appealing to spend their entire offseason playing in a tournament where they absolutely have to win or they're considered failures. You act as if we sent our best players, when in fact it was nowhere close to that. If we sent Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Kobe, Jason Kidd, Lebron, Chauncey Billups, Dwyane Wade, Elton Brand, etc etc we'd clearly be dominant. But we don't, because some players don't care to represent their country(american athletes are absolutely spoiled) and with the grind of an 82 game season a lot are nursing injuries or just plain need time off to recover before the next season. Make no mistake, the #1 priority for NBA players is to win in the NBA, that's how they get paid. Winning the gold medal or world championship is about 9th on their list, below buying a third bentley and making a rap video. Add in the fact that before this year the NBA was a much more physical style of play than international games(still is to an extent) and players basically can't play defense on the international level the way they were taught to their whole lives, and it's no surprise the rest of the world is able to win those competetions. And yes, the rest of the world is much, much better than it used to be, and that's a good thing.
2) All the cocky Europeans who seem to hate on American soccer need to bite their tongues. Soccer is approximately 14th on the priorities of Americans, behind the NFL, college football, NBA, college basketball, baseball, golf, NASCAR, Tennis, surfing porn on the internet, watching bad movies on HBO, watching mixed martial arts, getting high, discussing politics, and then soccer. There wasn't a professional soccer league worth mentioning here until a couple of years ago when MLS took off. Soccer is very much in the infantile stages of it's development over here. Yet you continue to blather on about how we'll never be any good, which is well within your rights, but there is no basis for that. The only way that happens is if soccer stops growing and the youth programs stop getting support. With soccer exploding at the youth level and becoming more and more popular that is not going to happen. Look at it logically. There is not one thing on this planet that the United States cannot succeed in if the money and support is provided. We have 350 million people here, of all ethnic backgrounds, of all races, creeds and colors. At practically every embassy around the world you have years long waiting lists to come to America. Mexico is pretty good right? Well we have twenty percent of their population here already and half of those still living there want to come. The playerbase is here, and it's far deeper than any European country can lay claim to. It's just a matter of getting the youth and developmental engine up and running, and if there's one thing that will motivate America to do that it's condescending Europeans talking down to us all the time and telling us we can't, especially when a sizeable portion of said fans haven't won a cup in forty years. You'd think you'd learn by now that, historically, Europeans talking smack to America don't do very well. But hey, it's a free world, right? There's another dig I could make in relation to that last remark, but I think I'll let it go.

LuckyStrike said:Yes, Americans are very arrogant about their soccer. Why I bet if I walked up to someone on the street right now and asked them why they are so arrogant they might say something like "Wait, we have a team?"
These ads are placed to drum up support. NOT to act in a chauvinistic manner. We live in a nation where the US soccer team needs to publicize the fact that we have a team and that it's going to the World Cup. I wish it wasn't this way but more people will be watching the NBA finals than watching the US team.
I know it's hard for some to lay off the US when it comes to anything but get your facts straight before coming to the forum and making an ass of yourself.
CopeCOwBoy said:I dout that, NBA ratings are lowest in 30 years thier almost on par with nhl ratings in the US this year.
ShiftyPowers said:Really? I haven't seen any numbers, but this has been the best NBA Playoffs in years and everyone is saying so. I can't imagine the playoff ratings are low, if anything I bet they're way up.
The Finals ratings WILL be up since we won't have a Pistons vs. Spurs snooze fest.
