Ahh Americans with their "soccer", and their "World" Series in which only teams from America compete in.
Anyhow, i'll eat my hat if they make it through the group stage.

Go USA......I'm backing them as I always do. I'd love to see them do well. This is a team fighting against all the odds IN their own country, to bring the Worlds greatest game to the silent majority of Americans who love the sport. Any success in the World Cup means that they just cannot be ignored for much longer by big (sports) business and the media in the US.
These guys take a lot of stick back home, and for their dedication to the game, they deserve to be shown that the rest of us around the world, RESPECT them for that.....GO USA.........

Shifty, there's nothing wrong with wanting to be the best at anything man. The USA might be arrogant over many things but football aint one of them. This is not about politics, this is football. Man, if I can seperate the two, then anyone can.
How can anyone not want an emerging footballing nation to do well? We get behind and encourage all the African Nations. We do the same for teams from down under like Australia who, it has to be said, are in a similar position to the USA when it comes to battling against the odds at home.
Usually all aspects of American society back their sportspeople to the hilt. Basketball, gridiron,baseball, even fu<kin' golfers for gods sake, but football does not get that backing or encouragement from within. You never hear an American football player telling us all that they are the best. These guys respect the history of the game we love, and they know their place in it, as we all do. They just want to be accepted into the family and I for one would encourage that.
If you are going to oppose or despise a team because of the politics of its governments, then really we might all as well pack it in and go home, because then you are talking about every team thats playing in this World Cup, including ours mate.

Chuck Norris can divde by zero. Period. With that aside, you have to show respect to the American footballers. The rest of the country is generalized as arrogant and wanting to be the best at everything but these men are humble and get out on that pitch and go to work. They catch hell from every side in the country and are supported by kids under 10 and women. I don't agree with our calling every sports champion "world champion" but we have idiots in our country like every.

It's the World Series, and yeah apparantly it's from a newspaper.
And not to be arrogant, but the Mavricks are going to beat Bennetton Treviso every time. Don't pretend that the NBA Champion isn't the best team in the world. Ditto for the NFL. But even so, announcers are really starting to get away from calling champions the world champion and instead just saying NBA Champions.
