I tell you what Arnau, I used to drink that exact same stuff, but I find Skyy to be smoother and slightly less repulsive to drink. Not sure if you get that stuff, or if the price is different, but give it a try. The price is about the same for me.

Also, while Red Bull is extremely expensive, there are other energy drinks like Rockstar or Monster that are cheap enough.

EDIT: Also, with vodka you really can't buy the worst, cheapest crap available. Spend the extra $2 per 1.75L and never buy Bartons or Siberian Ice.

Absinthe was illegal in the USA until only a few years ago. I have a lot of catching up to do; love the stuff, it's kind of like Jager, but not sweet.

Ahh you see I am completely opposed to mixing whiskey with anything....

Except maybe a cheeky Manhattan on very, very rare occasions.

I guess it's hard, because Irish whiskies are typical blends.

But if you're after nice mid range (ie. Not just run of the mill Jameson's or Tullamore Dew) and don't want to break the bank, Bushmill's Black Bush is nice. I very rarely mix whisky either, unless it's an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. But if I'm out drunk, and can't drink more beer, I usually go Scotch and Dry. If I change to straight spirits after that much beer, I end up drinking way too much

I find whiskey/bourbon/scotch/whatever drinkers to be the most pretentious dicks in the world. Thanks for confirming my stereotype Alex (H)

Generally people that drink lots and are hobbyists of any drink are pretentious dicks. Wine are as bad as anyone, but I've spoken to people who speak as pretentiously about coffee, beer or even vodka.

I'd say Cognac or Wine drinkers are more pretentious though. Although whisky drinkers that go on about single malts being better than blends (regardless of which malts or blends), are basically aiming to be pretentious ;)

Same in Australia. It was illegal because of the amount of thujone/wormwood it contained. Now that just limit that (so it's not at levels that make you high). So these days you're getting nothing but drunk.

Though most new research shows more that thujone isn't psychedelic anyway, regardless of how much they use, it can just kill you, cause convulsions or send you blind.

So Van Gogh was into making hats, cooking fungi, or acid if he was really tripping. Or the guy was just a nut.

Yeah, I learned the hard way. You buy cheap vodka, and you pay for it with a ******* terrible hangover.

My favorite is Grey Goose. That one I can drink straight up, but it's pretty expensive.

I prefer Skyy too, but other than in bars and maybe specialised stores, you can't get it anywhere. Smirnoff is much easier to find though, and for thatn reason I currently have a bottle instead of Skyy (which I'd much rather have, but oh well).

Hate to break it to you bro, but Grey Goose is the biggest scam in all of alcohol. It's not actually great quality and there are several cheaper and more well known vodkas (Skyy being one) that are better.

Yeah fair enough. I don't associate with the type of people who would be coffee or wine snobs, but from what I've heard they are far worse than whiskey snobs.

I got a bottle of Absolute vodka. Generally I enjoy beer, Canadian beer is generally good, most are smooth. If I go for something strong I've conditioned my self with the taste of vodka.

I have got drunker of absinthe than off anything else in my life.... certainly close to a hallucinatory phase. But then I drank an entire bottle of it, doing the thing where you burn sugar into each class with a teaspoon...

Also I once had the real thing (ie one without legal regulation) in a bar in Paris called the Zinc Bar (some of you may know it) where they dripped it onto a sugar cube the old school way..... and that was insane.

I really enjoy freezing cold straight Grey Goose, and also Belvedere. Horrendously expensive, but Waitrose used to not put security tags on them because of the long necks, so occasionally my friends and I would 'liberate' a few...
