Anywayz back to that list this is how I would rate the hardest sports for me personally...

1. Ice Hockey (I couldn't skate to save my life....)
2. Gymnastics (I'm not bendable and I don't do flips...)
3. Wrestling
4. Martial Arts
5. Boxing
6. Baseball
7. Football
8. Tennis
9. Basketball
10. Soccer

Though I mean seriously how can a website seriously make a list on what they think the hardest sports are?? They're so freakin biased...

I don't agree with you putting boxing 5th. That is a individual sport, it's all down to you. You spend up to 3 months trainning everyday for your next fight. You also take poundings and will end up with long term health problems and could end up with brain damage. Boxing is 100% the hardest sport. Here is my list:

1) Boxing
2) Football/Soccer
3) Martial Arts
4) Gymnastics
5) Snooker
6) Tennis
7) Cricket
8) Ice Hockey
9) Wrestling
10) Basketball

manutd4eva, I think this guy needs to face Shoaib, Lee, Lawson and Edwards. Maybe he'll change his line of thinking;):D.

Cricket is hard to play because you have a hard ball(i'm not sure about this, but i think it's harder than a baseball, or just as hard) coming at you at speeds of up to 100 mph. Not only does it move in the air, which makes it harder to hit, but after bouncing, the ball can rear up into your ribcage, deviate off the pitch, etc. Bowling(especially fast bowling) can be a strenuous task. Do me a favour - on a warm, humid day, do a 30-metre sprint for me. That doesn't sound hard. Now, do it 6 times, take a 2-minute break, and do it again. Repeat this up to 20 times and you've got the average day in the life of a fast bowler.

Cricket today is a lot faster and more strenuous than the pedestrian game of a few decades ago, so perhaps people would like to think before posting ignorant comments.

Also add to that the amount of thought that has to go on in two minutes of cricket.

I love soccer and would have it in my top 4 or four on that list but yall have to get off of Football it is one of the hardest sports to not just play but get good at. I mean you have to do heavy weight lifting year round while still being able to run fast 40 times(except for o-lineman) and memorize hundreds of set plays. And plus its just so physical. Yeah they wear alot of padding but trust me they need all that padding. I love basketball too but it should definately be near the bottom of that poll Even though tis hard to be really good at too, especially if your short.

No way Ice hockey is below Tennis and Snooker.

And I think Mixed Martial Arts is the hardest sport. I mean you have to learn boxing, submission wrestling, ground fighting, etc.
There is no room for error as 1 mistake can end a match quickly.

Re: Soccer the 10th hardest sport in the world??

You guys are seriously ******* retarded. What's harder, running as fast as you can dribbling a ball up the field weaving through defenders, or running as fast as you can carrying a ball as you break tackles and carry 300 pound guys on your back for 5 yards. Yeah, seriously. I'm going to break this down for you and explain why soccer is #10, where it ought to be.

1. Boxing - If you argue with this one, you're insane
2. Ice Hockey - Ditto. But if you complain about football players taking breaks, then you need to be consistant, hockey players are on the ice for an average of under 2 minutes before the line changes.
3. Football - Explained above.
4. Basketball - You take a ******* ball and launch it from 24 feet and see how many you make into the basket. First of all, even the best shooters in the world have games where they can't make anything. JJ Reddick was horrible in the tournament, so shooting is NOT easy, clearly. Ok, now have Ron Artest guarding you while you shoot. It's impossible. No one on the forum could score on Ron Artest or Kobe Bryant; someone could get lucky and score on Oliver Kahn or get clear of Nesta for a shot.
5. Wrestling - Greco Roman Wrestling is just as tough as boxing, maybe tougher because you have to strain your muscles for long intervals without letting up.
6. Martial Arts - Same as boxing pretty much.
7. Tennis - I'll disagree with this one, come on, tennis is not that hard. Don't 15 year old girls routinely win big tournaments?
8. Gymnastics - Seriously, who here thinks they can do a routine on the rings? Have you SEEN Paul Hamm? That guy is BUILT.
9. Baseball/Softball - Scratch softball and add cricket. Bowling is the same as pitching for the most part, although I believe the pitcher's mound is a little closer and the world record pitch is a little faster than the world record bowl. And by the way, anyone ever stand underneath a pop fly? Those things come down HARD!
10. Soccer - and there you go, soccer.

1.Boxing agree
2. Ice Hockey agree
3. Football just because a fat guy has to push a fat guy, a tinny guy tries to catch a tinny guy, and 2 or 3 huge guys try to stop a single guy from making pass dont make it hard to compete in
4. Basketball eerrm, i guess its becase you gotta be in great shape to run all those quarters in that wooden pitch
5. Wrestling again, push a guy that has the same body than you, doesnt seem har to me
6. Martial Arts oh well
7. Tennis what the hell?
8. Gymnastics ok this might be a very tough sport
9. Baseball/Softball only if you are a girl
10. Soccer def not a har sport but it should be at least 5th in this list

The Legend
Those 'fat guys' aren't always fat, but they are always strong.

Look at Julius Peppers, 6'6" - 283 pounds. He runs the 40 in 4.4 seconds.

Try getting away from him, and there are many others like him in the NFL.

My god i have never seen so many Biased answers in my life!...

oh wait a minute, its SG, its full of Biased people.

ive played every one of those sports listed there, xcept Gymnastics of course...

i would pretty much agree with the ESPN list, xcept soccer should be top 7

the Question was what sport is harder to play, not hardest to MASTER. if it was Hardest to master, Soccer would be top 3 for me. but i have to admit, i had never played soccer in my life before 1998 and it was fairly easy for me to pick up and play when i 1st did, and i can still play it easily, but not come anywhere near mastering it ;)

basketball is a joke! it should not be anywher near that list! :D

american football, i had trouble playing it at 1st :) but its so much more easier to master then Soccer, if it wasnt for my height, id be i have no doubt in my heart id be playing for Illinois and waiting to get drafted 1st Round!

Baseball... damn talk about boring.... yeah its hard hitting a pitch coming at ya 100 MPH, but personally i dont like waiting 30 mins for another shot at batting :P

Yea football's hard. Those fat guys that you're calling them are mostly all muscle and in better shape than your butt. Like Bobby said, Julius Peppers is a great example. Another is Jevon Kearse, Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher. Those guys are beasts.

Fact is every sport out there requires special skills. Everyone can play them but there are a few elite out there that have mastered the craft and that's why they make millions. I'm shocked swimming isn't on that list. talk about endurance.
