Soccer the 10th hardest sport in the world??

Here is an interesting link to a study done by ESPN. It ranks sports in terms of how hard they are to compete in on a basis of many different atttributes. Here are the top 10.


1. Boxing
2. Ice Hockey
3. Football
4. Basketball
5. Wrestling
6. Martial Arts
7. Tennis
8. Gymnastics
9. Baseball/Softball
10. Soccer

Okay, this list is pretty silly, so go to the link and read the info and feel free to chime in. Baseball number 9? Yeah... I agree with the first 2 though.

Baseball players play 162 games in a season plus the postseason. They also say that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing in any sport. Sounds bogus, but it has something to do with hitting a sphere with a cylindrical bat. Also, consider that the ball goes 90+ mph and can have a lot of movement. It's not easy slinging 100 pitches either at that speed.

i thought you were a fan of futebol?You know how much rest baseball players get during a game. The only one that plays the whole game non stop is the pitcher and most times he comes out in the 6th or 7th inning for other pitchers. i wish i could play soccer 162 games a year.

It is also one of the only sports where you can be an out of shape, fat slob and still play;)

You can't be an out of shape fat slob. Tell me who in baseball is like that? It's true that there are stocky players, but in a lot of cases that's because they've got a lot of muscle too and are power hitters.

If you've played anything beyond little league, you know that baseball really is a tiring game, though it may seem that the players are inactive most of the time. It's not as tiring as soccer, of course, but then again soccer players don't have to player several games in a row.

I do love soccer; it's my favorite sport. But I'm also a baseball fan.

ESPN............Baseball (girls game over here)...wrestling (oh please)........American football(pussy sport)..........basketball(boring or what).....well everything on that list apart from REAL FOOTBALL........should all be flushed down the s.h.i.tter......and it dont matter how much skill it takes to play any of the others ,because at the end of the day ..they are still a joke,because if they wasn't a joke ,there is a chance that the rest of the world might ....just might, be interested......but the rest of the world aint interested.....

OHHHHHHH, jeez. I'm sorry. I thought this poll was about how difficult sports were to play. I didn't realize it was about how good the sports are according to a narrow-minded soccer fan. And I didn't realize that all of those basketball leagues throughout Europe were a joke too! I had just always assumed that they had some popularity. God knows that tennis is only popular in America too. It must be a sign that it has not become international yet.

Baseball is a slow moving game, they only use around 25% of body energy used in soccer. Same thing for football. They have defence and offence and breaks in between, and lots of game stoppage. It's not that hard.

I'll give them ice hockey, since it's basically SOCCER AND ******* SKATING!!!!!:crazyboy: :rolleyes:

Gym and tennis? WTF?!

First they say a free transfer is a waste of money and then they prove why we have to look at Ballerinas and ******* lumberjacks instead of soccer on the weekends.

Basketball is ,whatever you may hear,a minority sport over here in Europe.......as is tennis(rich kids game).....i cant help having tunnel vision when it comes to FOOTBALL(not soccer please)because it is the best,most exciting and most skillful sport in the World.......I'm not saying you cant enjoy your favorite "sports"...all i'm saying is that most of the world couldn't care less about them ..or ESPN come to that....where was cricket and snooker ...and darts.....these games should be up there with those other great sports...........

I agree with u mate, FOOTBALL (i don't like to call it soccer but whatever :rolleyes: ) is the best sport in the world, i think no one have doubts about that! :rockman:
