Should Saddam Hussein be executed?

Or they could use the same system used on the guy responsible for the Bali bombing. They put him in a cell and for $5 people can go into the cell and punch/kick him as much as they want as long as they don't kill him (or else you'll take his place). A lot of tourists and locals seem to make good use of that.

This is 100% true, a mate of mine who's in Bali on hols at the moment told me about it.

So yeah, do the same for Saddam and every $5 goes to helping poor people:p

I havent heard anything like that here.

From what I hear the Indonesian military are keeping the bali bombers under wraps for fear of imcrimination on the part of the military (as many including myself believe they 'the terrorists' acted as part of the military and bombed the Kuta beach nightclub for revenge for East Timor - some intelligence currently being released or divulged here is saying the Indonesian police are being very kind to those people which contradicts your friend - a nice photograph will do quite nicely).

Well obviously I can't say it's 100% true as I haven't seen it myself but that's what my friend was told by the locals where he's staying so...

The only reason I give on why he should be excuted is the Napoleon factor. While it is highly unlikely the fact remains that since his supporters are very loyal and clearly worldwide that an attempt to free him from whatever place he will be held is a possibility. If it is success or not is one thing but that factor is always there if he is alive.

If Suddam were to get out of prision I think all bets would be off on what would happen because he has nothing to lose in this situation. I know it is a much more advanced time now than in the 1800's but Napoleon still managed to escape from where they were holding him in the Mediterranean Sea and cause Chaos in Europe again.

I think it would be too big of a risk to hold him in one location. I think in order to make it safe for the world he should be executed. I know that a plot could be made to stop his execution but it will be easier to stop it on one day than to try and stop someone or group everyday for years to come where Hussian supporters then get an advantage of being able to pick a random to attack and try to free him and also get mulitple chances of it.

Also the issue rises of who is going to guard him. I think if he is not executed than the job would have to fall to the US of guarding because it is unfair to put another country in a dangerous postion of having to guard him. Is it fair to make Holland a target for attack just because they are holding Hussein? I don't think so.

I think there are too many problems that present themselves if Hussein is kept alive.

We're buggered anyway. Whichever way you look at it, some sod will cry Jihad whether we kill him or not.

He'd probably hang himself anyway. Guilt = 0. Job done. I'm off to the pub.

No he shouldn't. He also shouldn't be tried in Iraq; seriously, that's the dumbest **** ever. Anyone ever hear of the International Court? George Bush? No? Well, that's the court that is especially designed for war crimes and genocide that dethroned leaders are accused of. Oh, but if he gets tried in The Hague then I guess he probably would tell everyone about his long relationship with the Bushes and Rumsfeld that might as well have been a gay love affair before the Gulf War.

Do you think Saddam gives two cents about the "International Court"? Give me a break. Let his OWN people try him and execute him if they feel necessary. What does Europe know about this thing?

And he might also let out the fact that he bribed hundreds of people throughout Europe through the Oil for Food program as well, and was friends with Chirac. Stop being so one dimensional.

Either way, let him rot. But let his OWN citizens decide that. Not some fags in the "International Court."

I don't think the US government acknowledges the International Court. They stated a year and a half ago they would invade Holland if a US citizen was ever to be tried there (to get the citizen out of court, of course, not to take over the country).
Them letting Saddam be tried there would kick Bush in the face.

Give sources....

All right, here you go...

"De Verenigde Staten doen niet mee aan het Strafhof, zij haalden op 6 mei jl hun handtekening onder het verdrag vandaan. Kort daarna is de Amerikaanse Senaat akkoord gegaan met een wetsontwerp dat onder voorwaarden militair ingrijpen in Nederland autoriseert. Geweld zou kunnen worden gebruikt om Amerikaanse gevangenen van het Internationale Strafhof, dat in Den Haag komt, te bevrijden."

"The United States will not participate in the (International) Criminal Court, they removed their signature from the treaty on the 6th of May (2002). Shortly afterwards the US Senate agreed to a law that authorises military intervention in the Netherlands under given circumstances. Violence could be used to free US prisoners from the Criminal Court, that will be based in The Hague."

Thanks Ruud.

But it sounds fishy to me.

I know it does, it is fishy. It was quite big news here back then, though, and the sources they give are the Washngton Post, the UN, and the ICC themselves. You can probably also locate it in the records of the US Senate, if they have public ones.
