Included in my response:

"Also, lastly, according to your forum post we advised you to 'simply' update your DirectX.
This is standard procedure and please also bear in mind that this problem is not been reported to us, so I would appreciate if you could be a little more positive when referring to us. We do try our best. I would also appreciate if you could encourage others to do the same."

That wasnt me.
As you can see, I am deem, not askywalker.
I assume I happened to contact you on the same day.

"I would appreciate if you could be a little more positive when referring to us."

Oh dear, I would actually appreciate it, if you didn't send me emails with comments like this before youv'e actually found out who I am.

I'm sure you can understand how frustrating it is that a company as big as yourselves release games that evidently are not up to scratch.

I've now tested the game myself, on 6 different systems, ranging from mid-range to high-end, and the problem is evident on all.

So, The problem is clearly not 6900gt based, as I included in my initial email, I have tested it on my second system, runnng a radeon sapphire x800pro, and 4 other systems hat include a radeon 9800xt, nvidia 5200ultra and an nvidia 5900ultra.

It's a shame that I had to go out today and spend 55 quid on an upscan converter and 40 quid on a copy of fifa 2005 for the xbox, just so I could enjoy it properly.

I look forward to your response and findings.

Cheers,

deem/steptoe/Shifty.

P.S if you find this too much of a coincidence, both askywalker and myself have our I.P's logged, I'm sure a moderator will be happy to assure you that we are not the same person.

oh, and another thing, I do kind of agree with him on the direct x point. If you are the sort of person hat edit's config files, then surely you would keep up to date with something as basic as direct x?

cheers.

Choppy Graphics

I have a Radeon 9200 card and I'm experienceing choppy graphics with both Fifa 2004 and 2005. Having contacted EA Tech Support in the past regarding previous incarnations of Fifa I am used to the advice given - so I speak from the point of view of regularly updating my drivers, weeding my hard drive, ensuring I have all the recommended specs etc. The problem I experience is exactly as many are describing - ie ie this blurred jumpy effect whenever the ball is lobbed long distances or high in the air. Think of a momentary earthquake hitting Old Trafford and you'll get the idea. It makes the game hard to watch and the A1 Render thing fixes it. It just does . Fifa 2004 then runs like all of the other computer games I've ever bought - ie with no problems (apart from some slowing down during the cut scenes) and with a clarity that is pleasing to the eye rather than irritating to the soul. I have no idea why this trick doesn't work with Fifa 2005 or why the majority, as is claimed, do not experience this problem. I want to keep faith with Fifa because it's pretty good on the whole and it's got Motty - but PES4 is way cheaper than a vid card upgrade and might be worth a look (no pun intended). I hope the guys from Ea who are monitoring all of this can sort it out.

Deem, my apologies...
Obviously I got my wires crossed somewhere.... Regardless, there is a lot of negative feedback coming back at me here. I'm trying to help you all. :nape: Yeesh...

We at Electronic Arts do try our best to help people, not because its our job but because we like helping people... YES, WE LIKE HELPING PEOPLE! However, for some reason that has eluded me so far, for all the help we give, we get about twice the abuse back! :|
(Rant over) Now, it would be nice if you could help me to help you. Otherwise I cant do much for you... I spent most of yesterday looking into this issue, testing, researching. I spoke to my colleagues who have not heard of this issue. Again, it doesnt mean its not there, just that no-one is called or contacted us about this previously.

The rest of the day, however, I spent speaking to people who dont even know how to switch a PC on... (Not once regarding this game or problem, btw)

Anyway...

I havnt been able to re-create this problem. Also, I have been using retail copies of the game, not some magical internal bug-free copy.

I have tested this game on a 6800gt, a 5900xt, a 9800se, a GF4-Ti4600 and I have had no luck. I am using official nvidia 61.77 and ATi official Catalist 4.9 drivers on all setups.

It would assist me very much if you all who are affected could do me a favor. Could you upload dxdiag reports of your PCs so that I can have a look to see if there is some common factor here... Also, could you all just try uninstalling the game, deleting the game folder and re-installing... I know it sounds simple but you'll be surprised how much it works... Its obvious that there are quite a few 'altered' installations here so I'd like you all to try just a clean vanilla install of the game to see if it helps anyone.

Also, I ask again...
Can someone please clarify to me some more information about the common.ini file, where you are placing it, and what the contents of it are. I've been messing with my own custom ini files for some time but I'd like to know what you are all putting in yours. Also, it would be helpful if some of you could upload the contents of your common.ini files.

Thanks.

Kareem.

P.S: I'm trying to help you all here with the internal knowledge and resources that I have at my disposal. If I continue to get flamed, I'll stop. I'm sure you would all do the same. Thanks.

Hey

I meant no offence. Im sure the mail I received was an auto standard support reply.

Im surprised that you cannot recreate the problems.

I can confirm that if I choose 1280 in the game settings the match most def starts in 1024.

With rergard to Render_every _ai_frame = 1, and I mean this with no dis-respect, are you certain you know how the effect we are looking for when we say how much it improves improves the games smoothness?

For a clear indication of the improvement it makes, fire up 2003, 2004 or Euro and stick the line in CMN/cfg_h.ini and then compare that to 2005.

Thanks for your continued input. Im not at my game pc at the mo, so can't copy out the common.ini but it includes

VIDEO=0 (Resulting in no more EA Sports, its in the game MOVIE)

AND 2 other lines to force refs and linesmen.

I have added resolution=1280 etc but it doesnt work.

Thats it!

Cheers

Hi Kareem!

Great to hear that someone from EA tries to help us here! Thanx!

This is what I (among other things) put in my locale.ini (also called common.ini) file (which I put in the root of my FIFA 2005 folder):

FEATURE_INGAME_REFEREE_ENABLED=1
FEATURE_INGAME_LINESMEN_ENABLED=1
RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1
NO_MUSIC = 1

People have found a lot of other lines to put in there, but these are the ones I use in FIFA 2005 at the moment. Some of them work; others don't. The line RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1 made the graphics much more fluent in FIFA 2004 (try it yourself - it really makes a big difference), but it doesn't seem to have any effect in FIFA 2005. Unfortunately.
The lines FEATURE_INGAME_REFEREE_ENABLED=1 and FEATURE_INGAME_LINESMEN_ENABLED=1 do work in FIFA 2005 although in my opinion it should not be necessary to add them. Why aren't the referee and linesmen visible by default? Bug?

My specs:
P4 2.26 Ghz 512 RAM GeForceTI4400 128 MB (61.77) DirectX 9.0b.

Regards,

Larsen :-)

Hi Kareem,

I have a different problem than this.

During night games, in some angles, there is exaggerated (i mean a lot! ) reflection of light on players. Their shirts, and everything .. It almost turns into some floodlight. This happens in some angles while the opposite angle would have no problem.

What can I do?

My system is as follows:

AMD ATHLON 64 3200
1GB DDR 400 RAM
ASUS ATI RADEON 9800 XT
16XAF / 6XAA activated.

thanks,

can you keep questions like that to a different thread?

The title of this thread is "render every AI frame"

Thanks.

Please delete or move.

I haven't bought the game yet, and I'm glad I checked this thread out first. If that line doesn't give you the buttery smooth animation the way it has in the past versions, I surley won't buy it either. The DEMO was silky smooth, are you guy's saying the game isn't as smooth as the demo? I didn't have to add the line for the demo...did EA dupe us? Why did we have to add that line every year to make the animation fluid anyway?: f***:

Can confirm that the problem occurs on both a GF TI4600 and GF 6800 GT with the 61.77 drivers and directX 9.0c. I have tried playing the game at the lowest grapical settings as well as changing the refresh rate of the monitor and enabling vertical sync but it makes no difference.

My system as follows:

ABIT NF7-S MoBo
Athlon XP 2800
1GB DDR RAM
Gainward 6800GT GS 256MB@400/1100
Win XP pro SP2

What I got in my common.ini is this:

FEATURE_INGAME_REFEREE_ENABLED=1
FEATURE_INGAME_LINESMEN_ENABLED=1
RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1
VIDEO = 0

And yes, the common.ini should go in the FIFA2005 root folder where FIFA2005.exe is.

oh, and thanks for the time your putting into this Kareem (Y)

For what it's worth, I have a GeForce 4 Ti 4400 and added the line

"VSNYC_MODE = 0" along with the aforementioned lines to the cmn file and I have no stuttering graphics problems at all.
:)

OK, cool, no stuttering, but do you have any 'double vision' at all on the players that don't have the ball when you pass?

obviously, these pics are kak quality, taken with my phone, but it gives the general idea. Although it doesnt look quite as bad as this when its moving it's still wrong.

I've tried everything said in this thread but my players are still running at light speed. Is there any line I can add to solve this issue?

Can you read? what is the title of this thread? Does the phrase 'off topic' mean anything to you? If you want to ask a question that has no relevence to the thread title, why did you post it here?

The line VSYNC_MODE = 0 does not have any effect for me like RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1 did in the previous versions of FIFA.
(I also have a GeForce TI4400.)

Hope Kareem soon will return with some good news!
askywalker - have you heard from him?

Larsen
