im not a tech dude

but why would a 10mbp network card run at 64k on a LAN??

are you saying that there are 64k network cards??

when i transfer data from one pc on my network to another - i get 100mbps, on my 10/100 network cards? surely 2 pcs connected together on a lan would run at a similar speed?

considering when i went to a i-series event, i had to have a 100mbps network card - i cant believe that a lan connection would run at 64k!!

also why have a note saying that you need an internet connection??

im 100% convinced this game will have ip-ip play straight out of the box - the only thing i doubt, is whether Konami will provide a lobby service 'alla xbox live' for players to just join and pick a match up.

Well, NOONE said you run a 64K LAN on a 10mbp card. ;)

Yes, they exists.

10/100 are in most modern home computers.

Lower shlt is kinda old now so not many use it but you still gotta take it into consideration.

Maybe there will be a dedicated server for pes4 released. This should make it easy for proffessional server hosting companies to setup high speed servers at a cost of around say £20 a month. This may sound a lot but if we where to get a soccergaming server and split the cost between all teams we could have a central european hosted server with masses of bandwidth. Otherwise well just have to hope the lag ip to ip isnt that bad.

so why would they recommend 1.5mbps?? when the standard is 10/100mbps??

the specs are geared towards ip-ip play, straight from the box, no mods needed.

i cant understand why people are still thinking its lan only - considering the speeds (min and reco) as well as the * comment, stating only needed for those with internet access.

its pretty blatent by what the pes4.com site is saying, that we will have ip-ip play.

and for the statement of if its up or down speed - id presume that it means down speed, as most games only put the download speed - in the UK, the standard upload is 256k (bt lines) anyway, that goes for 1mb lines as well as 512k lines.

1.5mb is a weird number to put in - i dont think bt (or its suppliers) provide 1.5mbps, possibly NTL, but i dont subscribe to a NTL line.

anyone with broadband should have a pretty lag free game - especially if konami have stuck in a decent netcode.

On the subject of a fee, i am all for this. Makes it much more interesting and exciting when there is a prize at stake. For those who don't have a credit card, they can ask their parents or a friend (really, $1.50 is hardly going to break the bank, and Paypal is secure, plus all credit cards are guaranteed against online fraud these days anyway). We should put it to a vote sometime though, and see who out of the signed up players is in favour and who isn't.

Plenty of time to sort all this out anyway. I doubt this thing will get going until close to Xmas, if not after. Who knows how long this online IP patch thing will take to get sorted (allowing for testing time), plus i imagine we'll want to have a website for league tables etc. to keep track of everything, as if we're going to do this it should be done properly.

A friend of mine also wants to pick a team. He already registered (2/3 days ago) but for some reason he's not allowed to post yet. His nick is Gugly and he wants to play with Fiorentina.

Thanks!!

Yes, make the first season free to see how it goes, that way if any unforseen probs come up people don't get all pissed about losing some money :)

for the same exact reason I got my ps2 and pc on the same 10/100 LAN and can only get a 3MB transfer.

10/100 are the maximum's not the actual transfer speeds that just happen out of nothing. ;)

so konami put a recommended speed of 1.5mbs, because they know that the average user of a 10/100mbps LAN, will only get 1.5mbps connection speed??

why argue the t0ss over something irrelevant - when its obvious konami havent put these specs in for LAN, its for online gaming

yes 10/100 is the min/max - but a properly configured LAN, will get the maximum connection speed

3mb connecting a pc to ps2, may be your reason - as its different hardware

Yep. I have set up several LAN's with friends and currently have one at my house. The speed is almost always maximum.

Konami would surely KNOW that someone will mod this game for online play. It's obvious, especially to those computer crazy Japs! It's possible that the only reason they did not implement a full online feature in the PC version was that they had some kind of exclusivity deal going with XBOX Live. However, it would not surprise me if they've made it easy for some clever chap to come along and mod this game without too much fuss. Konami will be aware that online play is the only thing that is holding them back from destroying FIFA, and once they have domination in this field, FIFA will simply fade away to nothing, as they deserve to. Therefore i foresee few problems in getting this online system set up for us PC users. That's my theory anyway...(:/)

Not really, I went to the FIFA forum and got blunder by their fans, These people are strange, they don't play fifa because they like the game but because it has offical name and for the fame it's got. I mean after knowing PES/WE I don't see why people still play fifa, I downlaoded fifa 2005 demo and can't stand. I would prefer to play ISS for N64.
