paulv2k4,
Just some feedback regarding your latest .ini. It's very classy in terms of gameplay. I've tried most of the gameplay tweaks among the modders. Hopefully you take this info into consideration as yours is clearly headed in the right direction. The gameplay is fun and the difficulty is there.
I used your suggested settings. World Class, manual controls, except passing set to semi.
Pros
- A positive gameplay feel. Shooting and passing is great for the user. Player movement and intelligence on offense is impressive. It comes across as very realistic when the user is on attack. The user defense is so-so when not a selected player, but that's because of the passing that comes with the opposing CPU being so solid at it-not sure?
Cons
- The CPU AI has too much control of the ball. The passing just comes across as robotic, as the precision from lower quality teams is unjust. It looks very "ping-pongy" and not organic enough.
- The CPU AI never uses long balls, ever. Crosses are rare too. As above, I think it's do to the passing you've set in place. You'll see plenty one-touch passes, plenty, even resulting in regular back-heel passes and such- you'd only see this in teams that play that kind of football, that have the quality players with the ability to do so. "Tika-taka" style so to say.
Just a note on the above. The goalkeeper will always pass to a defender from a goal-kick. Only when you place a striker in between will they go long. Same goes for free kicks near the box. The CPU will call a defender back rather than go long. The CPU maybe has top priority on possession? I do love the long distance shooting though.
- The user defense is a little weak, at least on WC. The CPU AI for the user will sometimes let the defender walk through on the edge of the box. I think somehow non-selected user teammates need to be more aggressive when the ball is closer to the goal.
Again, thanks for the mod. Looking forward to your progress.
