Gold Cup is Mexico's main cup to qualify for the Confeds, and it's this summer as well. The squad for Copa America is basically the B team. This call up list is decent compared to last Copa America; they actually got a shot to get out of the group stages...

Mexico has been dangerously close, but hasn't happened yet.


The most dubious one was the final against Colombia in Colombia. Mexico was the best team that tournament but laid an egg in the final. Some people believe that there were some shady dealings with the Colombians and the Mexican because the game was a stinker.

Copa America was pretty awesome 15-20 years ago. I remember watching it with my dad during hot ass summer nights, matchdays started at around midnight here so we would take the TV out to the balcony and enjoy the games...good times.
