not really guitar related, but I didn't want to start a whole new thread for it, and I figure you guys know some about music.

I'm looking for songs assosiated with the civilwar in the US. The songs where it's just a drum and a single flute. Anyone know any such songs? Names etc.? They are really cool and I would like to have one or two.

even re-working heavier "party" songs on acoustic can sound good.

bryan adams - summer of '69
bon jovi - livin' on a prayer
qotsa - no one knows etc.

Well, i'm Brazilian, so i try to play a good amount of songs people will know. When i get international on their arse, i usually play Smells like Teen Spirit (i wait for them to get drunk, so they will scream the chorus with me lol), Ana's Song (if there are girls), Miss You Love, Maiden's PowerSlave (again, if they're drunk, so they start acting like mad people), and lots of popular Beatles songs usually helps.

I luv playing Emotion Sickness and About a Girl aswell.

I'd also like some suggestions! But different ones. I'm learning how to play guitar since late 2005 now, but all I can play right now are those stupid small parts for the basics and some random stuff. Could anyone recommend some cool songs for electric guitar which are say from intermediate level?

basically anything from metallica. their songs aren't really that hard. At least not the songs from Black Album. Some of the earlier stuff goes quite fast.

I'm trying to learn master of puppets now. It's an awesome song with great riffs and it goes quite fast at some points so you'll learn to pick past as well.

other songs I reccommend would be green day songs. They aren't too challenging.

AC/DC songs are perfect. Songs like Back In Black, or Hell's Bells are mostly simple riffs but give you great techinque for power chords and small licks, if you practice them a lot.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions nird and funkyK! Sound like cool songs to study and play. I especially like the AC/DC songs.

Do you guys also get tabs from ultimate-guitar.com? or are there some other good sites for tabs?
