No, it's years ago since i heard it, and back then when I didn't play I rarely cared for things as solos in songs.
can you upload the song to yousendit.com or something?

I'll look for the song and upload it for ya.

Meanwhile, I was messing about a bit with my guitar and decided I would record some stuff so I recorded 3 parts, chords, solo and riff type of thing and mixed it in Garageband (love that program). The quality is crap because I recorded it with the built in mic on my Powerbook and my high e-string was false as f*ck and it's got a few mishaps here and there but I couldn't be bothered recording it again :D

what's your favourite solo ever?

mine is the 'Nothing else matters' solo by Metallica. It's not the fastest and most difficult solo out there, but it's really good, fits perfect in the song and the build up to it makes it remarkable.
Also the solo in 'One' by Metallica sounds pretty awesome.

Jimmy Page on Stairway To Heaven! is so ****in brilliant!

But I've always wanted to learn to play the acoustic guitar, but I wouldnt know where to start. Is there a certain brand u guys recommend getting since Im just starting out? And is there like a recommended lesson i can buy or get somwhere which u guys have heard to be good?

thanks in advance. (Y)

Get an Epiphone DR-100. They're relatively cheap, easy to play, and are of great quality. It's probably one of the best entry level acoustics out.

I wouldn't recommend any particular acoustic guitar for beginners as it's really up to you and what you feel is most comfortable playing. Just go to a guitar shop (with lots of choice) and play a ****load of guitars, whichever guitar you feel most comfortable with get it. Obviously look for something reasonably cheap (not too cheap because that equals crapness) because you might find out that you don't like playing the guitar as much as you thought and then it would be a shame if you bought a top-quality guitar for nothing...
Also go for some light strings (probably 0.10) when you're starting as playing with thick gauge strings will mess up your fingers big time at the start plus thinner strings are easier to play.

As for lessons, ultimate-guitar.com have some good lessons. Best thing to do is just look up tabs, try to play them, listen to plenty of guitar music and try to develop a hearing for chords, notes, scales etc.
www.guitarforbeginners.com is a pretty good web site, they've also got an online guitar tuner and the lessons are in video format (as well as tabbed).

I'm surfin around gibson.com and see that there are Les Paul guitars w/humbuckers.
what's humbuckers?

PhiLLer

Fan Favourite
Humbuckers are basically a kind of pickup that eliminates the hum or buzz noise that a regular pickup receives from sources such as computer screens or tv (ie. the pickup picks up magnetic frequencies other than that of the guitar). A humbucker basically counters that by reducing the buzzing sound.

okay, so it's an advantage? I mean, I guess the pro's got humbuckers?

btw, check out my new sig. I'm no artist and I suck at photoshop so I'm satisfied :) :rockman:

You guys listen to Rammstein?

German rockband, yeah, they sound a little nazi, but they got killer riffs.
They are always very simple, but they sound freakin' awesome!
like this:

Asche Zu Asche intro:

---------------------------------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
---------7-------8-----7---5-----
-5p2-----7-------8-----7---5-----
-3p0-0-0-5-0-0-0-6-0-0-5-0-3-0-0-

all the open strings are palmmuted

Besides humbuckers cancelling buzzsounds, they also sound fatter. And no, the "pro's" don't use humbuckers by defenition, again it's all about personal preference.

BTW, I like the sig, I saw it was KH's immediately (H).

what do the pro's use then to get rid of noise etc.?
I was having trouble with feedback on my amp when I got it and I heard many talk about some noisereduction equipment, someone tell me about it? I'm kinda' blank on the area :)
