Here's why Kobe Bryant can't be MVP. On Dec. 28, he commits a premeditated flagrant foul on Mike Miller (elbow to the neck), Miller makes the two free throws and the Grizzlies win 100-99 in overtime. Then Bryant brags about the elbow and gets suspended two games, which become two losses to Utah. One elbow, three Ls. -- ESPN.com"
That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. You award the MVP to either the best player (my criteria), or the guy who's most valuable to a winning team (the dumb criteria that everyone else seems to use). Now this quote right here doesn't address either, and it takes 3 games and uses it to judge an entire 82 game season. Over the course of 82 games Kobe has demonstrated that he's the best player in the NBA. In addition he is clearly the most valuable player to his team, Beto is right, without Kobe the Lakers are a 10 or 15 win team. This column betrays itself, the Lakers DID lose those two games to the Jazz. Without Kobe. If they didn't need him they could have taken one.
