well.. the season starts tomorrow... finally sth good to watch on tv..
here's my prediction for the season:
East:
1 Indiana - This team is too good and too deep not to finish 1st in the East.
2 Heat - Lot's of new faces, there might be some chemistry issues in the beginning but as the season goes the Heat will mesh.
3 Nets - If the big 3 are healthy then there's no argument they won't finish top in the Atlantic. Also I think Nenad is gonna have a nice year.
4 Detroit - I wonder how different they would play with a more offense oriented coach. Still they are the top defensive team with Big Ben and Co.
5 Cavaliers - I see Lebron having a good year, might even be in the top 5 for mvp considerations now that he has teammates finally. And Mike Brown is a coach that I like.
6 Wizards - Solid team. Let's just hope Jamison's preseason was just the preseason. Butler is a solid replacement for Hughes.
7 Bulls - Luol Deng is back, Gordon should improve from last year. If the rumors about them getting Nene turns out to be good then they might move a spot or 2 up.
8 Bucks - Now that they've added another big man in Magloire, they have a solid front court to bang with the best. And TJ Ford is back too. Only thing I think that can hinder them is the coach, I'm not a big Stotts fans.
ouside looking in:
76ers - Webber, AI, Dalembert already in some injury problems...
Knicks - They actually look better this year "individually", let's see how Larry Brown does with this chemistry experiment.
Boston - Young, maybe in a year or 2 they'll be playoff regulars, just not this year.
The Central Division is pretty tough.
West:
1 Spurs - What can I say, adding Finley to the mix makes them even scarier. With a healthy TD in the playoffs no way they're missing the finals.
2 Nuggets - Hottest team the final 2 monthes last season will continue to impress. Melo in contract year should be nice to watch. If only that Paul Pierce trade had gone down they wouldn't have a 3 headed PG rotation. Might even have the best record this season.
3 Kings - They're the most solid team in the Pacific.
4 Rockets - Yao gets a solid partner in Stro. Rafer will help the team run. And T-mac does his stuff.
5 Dallas - They will win some games and make the playoffs. If only Cuban had kept Nash. Oh well.
6 Warriors - They will be fun to watch. Let's hope Baron stays healthy.
7 Wolves - KG is 29. Can't believe the Wolves couldn't put together a team that gets pass the 1st round on a regular basis with a talent like KG in 10 friggin years. Time to get the gang together and perform up to task.
8 Jazz - Sloan seems to be someone that gets the most out of his players when u least expected. Let's hope Boozer, AK and Harpring can stay healthy. Otherwise replace with Lakers.
Just outside:
Sonics - Clippers - Lakers - Suns and even Grizzlies.
6th man of the year - if rumors are true about Artest starting on the bench. If not Danny Granger or Donyell Marshall or Sarunas Jasikevicius.
Most Improved Player - I like James Jones last year, this year he'll play with Steve Nash, let's see what will happen. Zaza Pachulia should get high consideration as well seeing he has the starting spot all to himself in Atlanta.
MVP - other than the usual candidates I think Lebron has a legit chance.
ROY - Charlie Villanueva, he'll get minutes and chance to prove himself. I have to admit I was not too happy when the raptors drafted him, but now it seems Babcock knew what he was doing. But Chris Paul will be front runner for this and u can never forget Saras Jasikevicius, if anything other than his awesome name.
NBA Finals - San Antonio at Indiana
I'm leaning towards the Pacers.
It's an 82 game season, lot's of things can happen, let's see how it goes.
