Robben Explains Choice

Arjen Robben has revealed he has no regrets about opting to sign for Chelsea instead of Manchester United.
The PSV Eindhoven prospect will join Claudio Ranieri's Blues for ?2 million in the summer after the West Londoners outmuscled United in the bidding war for his signature.

It is a move the Holland international, expected to have a major impact on the Euro 2004 finals in Portugal, is clearly relishing.

"I want this season to finish very well at PSV and then join Chelsea," he said on Sky Sports News.

"I'm looking forward to playing there and I want to win prizes.

"My main goal is to win prizes.

"I don't think I'm too young to go abroad, you're never too young when you're good enough. You make steps and, when you get a chance, you have to take it.

"I'm not afraid. I'm looking forward.

"Chelsea are a very big club, a fantastic club, and I'd like to be in the squad.

"It's my decision. I want to play for Chelsea and, of course, before Chelsea, Manchester were also interested but, finally, I will play for Chelsea and I think it's a very good decision and I'm very glad it's over now."

Robben has signed a five-year contract with his new club, which will commence in the summer.

Yeah.. I know this is over but just wanted everyone to see he wasn't 100% United like we had thought last year, and its not completely our administration's fault Chelsea took him away. We did officially offer 5m, PSV reportedly wanted 10m, we then negotiated 7m (rumor, negotiation, unofficial, etc) but van Raaij, I suspect because he was still pissed Fergie invited Robben to OT without his knowing, just folded.

Funny that Robben should choose for Chelski saying that he's sure they'll win trophies and have a good squad. This will probably lead to his downfall, he will be competing for a place in the starting 11 with a number of great players which include Damien Duff, what makes him think he'll be starting week in week out? I doubt he will and come the end of his first season maybe regret the decision to move to Chelski instead of United where he would've probably getting more starts.

Anyway, I don't care, good luck to him, we'll get someone better (fingers crossed:D )

I herd now M.Silvestri the frenchman will face FC Porto, he says he is ready. Any more news on this, I got it from MUTV link....

Also 3,500 F.C.P fans already have tickets to OT game, unless Porto are awarded more. Expect 4,000 portistas in UK. :mrpimp:

Costinha will be ready for this leg, after he served his suspension in the first leg.

Yeah, the news broke out last week that it would possibly 10 day's out instead of 3 weeks, which as a boost for us, and Wes Brown has improved.

United take on Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday, and I'm really confident we can beat them without many problems. :)

Walter Smith has been appointed Assistant Manager until the end of the season - Sky Sports News channel is breaking the news.

Reds Chase Jimenez?

http://www.manutd.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=54491&itype=466&icategoryid=120

Manchester United are interested in signing 19-year-old Chilean midfielder Luis Jimenez, according to reports.
Jimenez currently plies his trade in Italy, for Serie B outfit Ternana. After producing some fine performances this season, the teenager has attracted the interest of a host of Europe's top clubs, including United.
"It's true Jimenez is eyed by a lot of teams," admitted Stefano Capozucca, Ternana's sporting manager. "He's a young player who is making a really good championship. "Many teams are eyeing him, but at the moment we haven't any intention to talk about his future. We will see at the end of season.
"Atletico Madrid? Manchester United? Juventus? Inter? Yes, it's true. These are all teams that arrived here to see him playing."
Any move to sign Jimenez would hinge on Ternana's promotion to Serie A. The club are currently fourth in Serie B.
"We will see at the end of season," added Capozucca. "If we will stay in Serie B we will sell him, otherwise, if as we are hoping, Ternana will go to Serie A, we will surely keep him."

Fans Would Welcome McClaren Return

http://www.manutd.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=54477&itype=466&icategoryid=368

Following Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson's comments over the future of Boro manager Steve McClaren, United fans say they would love to see Sir Alex Ferguson's former assistant back at Old Trafford. Here are some of the best e-mails we have received...

From: Stan DeSouza, Toronto, Canada

McClaren has done very well at Boro. Since his departure from Old Trafford Sir Alex Ferguson has had difficulty instilling some consistency in the side. The current squad lacks direction and cohesion. McClaren was well respected by the players at Old Trafford. It would be great if we could get him back.

The next United No.2 is the Heir Apparent. While I'm sure Steve would get a great welcome back at Old Trafford, I think we need some European creativity and flair right now. But there's no doubt Steve would do a good job at United.

Who else but Steve would fit in so well to the manager's chair at United?

Steve is one of the best in the business and he was much better than our former number two. We need Steve to come back and give the team a boost because he was great at supporting Sir Alex and the team. He is a great number two and indeed possible manager for Man Utd in my opinion.

I think Steve McClaren would be a great assistant manager at Old Trafford (as he was). I also think he would be a great future United manager. Look at the results Middlesbrough are getting at the moment. He has literally turned nothing into something. Look at Middlesbrough before he went there - now they are a cup winning team and will possibly win more trophies then United this year. He also has a great knowledge of our players.

It would be very nice to see an old face back in our side. Steve is doing a very good job for Middlesbrough and if he returns, it would be a very good thing. I see him, not just as number two, but I really think he could be a good replacement for Sir Alex.

Bring Steve back so he can coach us to another Treble! He should definitely be the next United manager.

I think Steve McClaren coming back to Manchester United is a brilliant idea, as second in command for a short while, then as manager when Sir Alex wants to hand over the reins.

I think Walter Smith will do a good job. He has a lot of experience at the top level in both Scotland and England, including keeping a cash-strapped Everton out of the relegation zone for most of his stay there.

I was a little bit 'hmm?', at Walter Smith's appointment initially but it could be a good thing. He had a great record with Rangers, although it's not difficult to have a good record when you're in charge of either of the Old Firm.

It's only for the rest of the season. My guess is that if no other club comes in for him and all goes well at United then he'll be 2nd in command next season.

Although he's won 6 SPL Titles and 3 FA Cups(Scottish that is) and whatnot, I hope some club does snap him up when his contract runs out here.

I want McClaren back.
