I watched the entire match. We can create the chances, but the cutting edge isn't there. We should've scored around 2 or 3? Mixed opinion about Nani's performance. He is brilliant at times, but I hated when he was pushed off the ball that easily. But almost scored a brilliant goal.

Fletcher missed an absolute sitter that Nani laid on for him - other than that he played quite well today. One worrying thing for me was when Nani stopped playing and looked at the ref, that's one Ronaldo thing I don't want him following (or his philosophy on loyalty). Portsmouth were very physical as usual and the referee missed some rough housing from them - as well as a stone bonk penalty.

They talk about this "respect" thing, but how is a player supposed to react to stupid errors like these? The referee's have to fulfil their side of the bargain too by upping their own game.

Goes without saying really, he covered every blade of grass. James pulled off a good save to deny him a richly deserved goal.

Some teams are physical Mikey, thats what English football is all about mate. There shouldn't be any special protection for Man U players should there? 'Course not because its a physical game as many Man U players show us week in and week out.

Not by grabbing an opposing player around the throat in my opinion. This was the Community shield Mikey, it wasn't exactly an important match was it, so why were tempers raised so high for such a non-event? That is the question that needs to be asked here. I'm all for respect if it means the end to violent thuggery on the field mate.

It was hardly a grab around his throat. More of a push out and his hand happened to hit his throat. Not saying that's acceptable but it was hardly as dramatic as grabbing his throat.

Fletcher had a really good game, his ability to cover the pitch is a huge asset. Nani was pretty immense in stages, his control on the ball is almost Ronaldo-level right now and he's only going to get better (Y)

In my opinion I think Nani is slightly ahead of where Ronaldo was at the same time, his decision making is better overall and he tracks back quite a bit more too and often gets in to tackles to win the ball back (something Ronaldo didn't do) Plus in his first season, Nani scored more goals than Cristiano as well - which means his shooting at that stage is better. He isn't as spectacular as Cristiano (range of dizzying foot moves etc) but I feel he's more effective in his early United career than Ronaldo was.

Of course Ronaldo suddenly exploded into world class form, can Nani do the same? I'd have to say I believe so.

Nani can be real frustrating @ times... just like ronaldo was during his 1st couple of seasons. But i expect nani to step up this season. There is a little ronaldo in him though if you know what i mean.

goin to ground a little too easily and demanding a free kick everytime hes fouled. Hope he cuts down on it.

£28M for a 28 year old?

I'm not too sure over the price, but I guess Spurs have us over a barrel. Interesting that we've bid for Silva, Fergie perhaps planning for a winger as well?

Berbatov is a great player, has a touch of King Eric about him, but I think he tends to go missing sometimes and I question his attitude, but if anyone can knock him out of it - it's Fergie.

We don't need Silva in my opinion.
Berbatov's a great buy. And well, that's what you have to pay for good players nowadays I suppose.
I also think his attitude problem has to do with the players he was playing with at Spurs.
I don't want to be disrespectful but he got some pretty crap service at times.

Help?

would much rather KLASS then berb
dont rate silva eiter

No way, Huntelaar might be younger, but he is still hugely unproven. He isn't the top striker for the Dutch team and the longer he stays in Holland, the more skeptisicm i have about how he will actually handle EPL or La Liga. Berbatov has proved to have skill good enough to dominate EPL. As mentioned above, with better service, he should be able to get us 20+ goals a season easy

Well, Ronaldo wasn't Premiership material when he joined you guys either. At least Huntelaar is bagging 20+ a season... And he would probably be cheaper than 28 million pounds...

KLASS will cost less then 19 mill i think or was it 12??
they wanted to put a buy out clause and it was either 12m or 19m either way be cheeper and be around the club longer
usually dutch players adapt well to the EPL also with RUud retired im sure KLASS will step up to be the leading man for dutch team

This Silva Bid was probably made at a time when it looked like Ronaldo was going to Real/ or in case Ronaldo was going to real. The article doesn't say when the bid occured
