Still cant see him going unless they offer a lot of money.

I think if we lose him we could possible have a lull for a season or 2 whilst the new team gel's.

Possible but not necessarily. This didn't happen when Ruud or Cantona left. We won the Champions League 2 years after Cantona left and we won the League for three consecutive seasons after Ruud left. We however went down a bit when Beckham left, but that was coupled with signings which turned out to be flops like Dejmba x2, Kleberson or Bellion. With the right signings, I'm sure we'll be strong next season.

Not for a player who just joined a team with a consecutively established winning team. Hard to make massive inpact when you already have Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo and co.

Starting XI
I think Berbatov had a good inpact this season he had a lot of assist and that count too!!
he is strong and can hold on to the ball and he is a good passer!
next season i think we will see 15+ goals and 15+ assist from him,and then i am satisfied.

I hope that we can keep Ronaldo, especially when Real are acting like they own the world or something. It is a pity that a club like Milan had to sell there star player. We have to prove a point and show Perez that he can't get anybody he wants just by clipping is fingers...the scary thing is that it is quiet around the club, a little bit to quiet. Nothing about Tevez either....

I'd hate to say it but I think we are in store for a bad season next term. I don't think we're going to win anything next season.

The way I see it, the priority this summer should have been:
1) Sign Tevez
2) Sell Berbetov
3) Make a play for Ribery
4) Make a play for David Villa
5) Look for at least one good defender
6) State publicly and firmly that Ronaldo is not for sale under any circumstances

Now, that list is probably what I'd call a 'dream' list because I doubt the club have the money to get Ribery and Villa and still be able to keep Tevez, let alone go after a good defender...but we have done absolutely nothing. I'm afraid that come late August the only thing that will have changed for us is that we will have lost a great striker, leaving us with even fewer players who are actual scoring threats, and our defense will have not only NOT improved, but will have also just gotten a year older.

Also...has there been any word on Owen Hargreves? Will he be ready to play next season? I really hope he will be in the squad regularly.

Are you ignorant? Bent probably has better stats than those!! Saha has never played a full season for United and always had better stats and was sold because fergie got 'frustrated'.

What is your obsession with ignorance? Read the facts and learn the stats lad Berbatov has been a flop in any language, study it!

Once more Fergie brought in the man to better what was already there as a RVN replacement if not he could have kept Saha, as he rated him only as a backup.

Saha always had better stats? You're the one who's ignorant here. Berbatov scored 14 this season. Saha has never scored more that 14 in one full season out of the 5 seasons he played at United. The only time he did so was during the 2005-2006 season when he scored 14.

And not to forget about the assists that Berbatov provides. I think his season was just OK. Not too good, not too bad. He still has a lot to prove and I'm sure he's got the potential to do so.

Berbatov scored 9 in 31 EPL games. Saha who has never, and I repeat never played a full season for United has in 2005/2006 7 gols in 19 EPL games, 2006/2007 8 in 24 EPL games(this campaign in particular was particularly painful as he had 8gols in 5 games well ahead of anybody else then injury struck him out for the remainder of the season, what if!!), 2007/2008 5gols in 17 EPL games (more injuries). Look at the stats, better ratio means had he not been so injury prone he would of hit double figures every season.

Much respect Saha!!

Berbatov has been a flop. Why would you pay 30mil for 9EPL gols??!! We sold RVN for less and he top scored in the primera. Dont get me wrong Berbatov can be classy at times but he is not suited to counter attacking play, a move to Italy or Spain could see him become world class though.

Agree. Louis Saha would have been a great striker if he wouldn't had so many many injuries in his career.

-------------------------------------------------------------
On Sunday night, Carlos Tevez preferred to stay at home to comfort his young daughter who had a temperature rather than attend Manchester United's player of the year celebrations (a prize won by Nemanja Vidic).

Coupled with his body language as he left the pitch during United's final home game of the season against Arsenal, the Argentine's absence has led many to assume that he is heading for pastures new. After two years at Old Trafford he will be taking his entourage of advisers, interpreters and owners elsewhere, thus ending one of the most convoluted and contorted episodes of player ownership in football history.

Once footballers were traded like pieces of meat. In Tevez's case, they have been traded like commodities, with a futures market and endless opportunities for arbitrage. And the characters drawn into ownership on the back of such possibilities are among the least savoury ever seen in football. Which is frankly saying something. In Tevez's case the fact the English authorities have sealed the loophole preventing third party ownership has probably confirmed his departure from United. His owners need a couple more trades to maximise their profit before they finally relinquish his signature.

For United fans, however, the matter is a simple one: whatever it takes, they want Tevez to stay. He is the epitome of the kind of player supporters appreciate, his energy and commitment a reflection of their investment in the cause. Everybody loves a trier. For Alex Ferguson, however, there are complications, beyond even the player's Byzantine ownership structure. He has in reserve two young strikers who he feels are ready to take a step up to regular first team deployment. He has already told Fabio Capello that he expects Danny Welbeck to be in England's World Cup squad next June, while all attempts by Italian clubs to take Federico Macheda on loan next season have been rebuffed. He wants both to get lots of games next term.

Ferguson has never shied away from removing obstacles in the way of young players' development, and with Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney already on the books, paying out a total of £32 million for Tevez, simply to line the pockets of third party owners is not something he would undertake lightly if it meant he was playing instead of United's future hopes. The Old Trafford hard core, however, would prefer it if the blockage to development was removed elsewhere in the team.

"Keep Tevez, let Ronaldo go," one United regular told me, voicing a widely held opinion. He added that Ronaldo's attitude had become increasingly hard for even the most diehard United fan to justify. The Ronaldo song which soundtracked United's march to Moscow last season has been much less frequent in its airing this. The fans have fallen out of love with their one-time favourite. The arrogance, the diving, the endless self-pity when decisions do not go his way, coupled with his pantomime attempt to be released to Real Madrid last summer, has convinced the regulars that his interest lies chiefly in the promotion of Cristiano Ronaldo rather than the wellbeing of their club. Such has been the falling out, the consensus is now that Ferguson should let him go and keep the one who cares.

In which case, the advice should be: careful what you wish for. True, Ronaldo started this season slowly. True, he is at times a leading candidate for the most annoying human being on the planet award. But consider this: his 18 league goals are what made the difference this season. United won the league because they beat teams at home that Liverpool could only draw with. And Ronaldo was the one who scored the winning goals. While it would be unfair to describe him as a flat track bully (his performance in the Champions League semi at the Emirates destroyed the myth that he can't cut it at the highest level) he certainly enjoys inflicting pain on those he considers beneath him.

Without Ronaldo's winners against Stoke, Blackburn, Hull, West Ham, Bolton and the rest at Old Trafford, Rafa Benitez would now be in receipt of a congratulatory letter from Alex Ferguson for securing Liverpool's 19th title. Ronaldo's is a skill not easily replicated. It is certainly not one Tevez - for all his qualities - possesses. In fact, for the future of his club, Ferguson would be advised to do the opposite of the fans' wishes and put all his summer work into ensuring he keeps Ronaldo, not Tevez.

Saha is a class player. We should of kept him on a pay as you play or a reduced salary. He's had some great moments this season. Pitty he's so injury prone.

As for berba the fact is like it or not he's staying. 14 goals and 10+ assists making him the 2nd top assisting player in the prem, that isn't bad. Berbs played 41 games. He's a passer, a play maker and makes the team turn over better.

On the other hand Tevez has scored only one more... 15 and played 51 games with the same amount of assist as John O'shea. He's a fiery worker alright but we don't have them in short supply. I think he's actually quite ball greedy at times. Shooting wide and running around like a loon in favour over a quick and simple pass.

Not that he's a bad player... he's great! Saved us more then once this season but if I had to pick over the two... Its Berb. Not to mention berb offering something different. Tevez is very similar to Rooney. Diversity breeds success.

Talking of diversity something were lacking is an all out striker. The RVN, torres, Villa and Anelka's. With one of them our strike team will be one of the best. Great Diversity in front of goal, the one thing we have probably be lacking for a few seasons now. Its a credit how well the teams been doing with the type of strikers we have although I think we got found out this season shown by our goal tally.
