That is a VERY interesting point. I'd never actually considered it. It was obvious how bummed out SAF was to not be able to get 'dinho before he joined Barca, if Ronaldo does go i'd love to see SAF go for him.

Ronaldinho on form and focussed playing for United would be phenomenal.

Oh yes it would. Imagine a fully fit Ronaldinho pulling the strings with the number seven on his back (or ten - Rooney could take 7) We'd be unstoppable.

Also someone on MUTV posed a good question, overall if Ronaldo goes would certain players (i.e Wayne Rooney) benefit because they'd get more of the ball themselves (Ronaldo always ran at players himself as a first option) Could the overwhelming presence of Ronaldo in a match actually alter the effectiveness of his team-mates?

Remember we have phenomenal players in our squad like Rooney and Tevez who are capable of turning a game themselves.

what we'd miss without Ronaldo is the flair. Rooney and Tevez are fantastic players in their own right, but Ronaldo has always added something extra, maybe its just pure talent and skill, but just that inept ability to do the right thing at the right time. I think Nani could start to have that kind of influence at United, but it's going to take a good couple of seasons for that at least i think.

Don't know why, but I am sick of hearing "The club is more important...,we let go players and rebuilt...we have great players...". No! face it, without Ronaldo you guys would not have won all the titles you have won! How many huge goals has he scored? How much space does he open up for everyone else? Sorry, but credit is due where it's due. Not saying you will fall apart w/o him but it would be a much different Utd. Now all of asudden, everyone is lookin at the positive things if he leaves! C'mon!

I agree with both of you really, obviously Ronaldo has been incredible for us. Especially this season. But to say that without him we wouldn't have won the league is going a bit too far. As mentioned before, without Ronaldo there, there is more than enough quality in our team to influence a game. And without Ronaldo there, the likes of Tevez and Rooney etc. could benefit.

No question you have a solid team but c'mon! C'mon! I mean, if his being there doesn't matter why all the fuss/ Why Fergie talking to him, why the jabs at us (which by the way are uncalled for). Like Ive said before, the problem is between you and ronaldo, not us. If he dreams of playing for us thats his dream. You cant blame us! C'mon now! If a better bigger company offered you a job, with more money involved, better lifestyle, climate, etc. what would you do?

Now, add up all of Ronaldos games, key moments, it would = leading you to the title. He's ahuge reason why youve won the titles you have. He brings more than flair and you know it.

Not trying to belittle what he did, but if his heart isn't in United then we have to face the fact that we move on. Legends better than Ronaldo have gone and United continues. There was a Manchester United before Ronaldo and there damn sure will be one after Ronaldo.

Y'know I hope and pray that he comes out and says all these reports are rubbish and he's totally committed to United and goes on and has seasons like this one. But the fact is I feel he has gone too long without addressing this issue definitively one way or the other. Therefore we must steel ourselves to look at life without him.

There are negatives to him leaving - of course. But there are positives in every situation and we must look at how United can continue.

That is why no player will ever be greater or bigger than Manchester United.

ffs, what has he left to win in England? If it were me, and I had already won all that **** at such a young age, why not add to the medal haul in a different place, with new challenges? It is not like he is moving to Liverpool, he is moving to a place where you will only play his team twice a year. I don't actually think he owes you lot anything now, 42 goals, two league titles, a champions league etc. its not like the whole future of the club rests on his presence... I thought being a football supporter was about supporting the club, not the celebrities... or it it a sad indictment of our time that football fans have become prone to such superficial things? Are people really more enamoured by the name on the back of their replica kit than the badge on the front? It won;t be long before people start supporting teams based on who their sponsor is...

I think this is the first time i have ever read a senseble post from you on footballing matters.

If somebody asked me, would i want United to sign this 17 year old kid for 12 million pounds and win an FA Cup, Carling Cup, 2 League titles and a CL title in 5 years and then sell him off to Real, maybe Barca, for 80 million pounds, i would say ABSOLUTELY! He has done superbly for this team and was very instrumental in all those trophies. Would have been nice to see him stay till he retires, but if he doesn't want to then as long as United doesn't get jibbed on the deal, its all good. Its not like he scored over 65 goals in the last two years under the barrel of a gun. He tried hard for the team to pay back for what we made him and we finally got that Champions League title that should have had more than just 3 times. I'm sure there is a play out there that has the ability to step-up and replace Ronaldo. As long as Nani and Anderson don't get suckered into the move as well because we invested a little bit more into them then we did into Ronaldo.

OrgulloVikingo: The problem with Ronaldinho is that he is a typical brazillian. Brazillians love to party. Spain has a great weather and places to party at. Put the personality with the resources together and you got an unfortunate match. One of the reason why Ronaldinho went to Barca over United is because he was afraid that there is too much rain and cold weather in Manchester. That was an indication right there that he isn't Giggs-type of player off the field. Can Ferguson make him great again, i don't know. Ferguson himself has only 2-3 years left at United and he is much better with young developing mind, rather than older already developed players. If you look at our history, players that were kicked out from United (Stam, Beckham, Ruud) where all older players that Ferguson just couldn't man-manage and their behaviour got out of hands. So i'm not so sure that Ronaldinho could rejuvenate his career with Ferguson. With Allardyce he can for sure though.

No player is ever bigger than most clubs including us! This isn't something unique to Man Utd. Other than that, good post! although I still feel hes trying to get a bigger contract ext. from you guys.

Why suckered? Don't understand this. You know, players dream of playing for certain clubs. No one is tricking anyone. Just like Ronaldo, other players dream of playing for other clubs.

Great point bout Fergie and older players. Excellent post(Y)

I think that in itself is a bit out of order - he was more than happy to sign a contract last year for five years so his contract demands should not even be discussed. If United allowed this to happen they would basically invite all their players to behave like this any time they wanted a raise.

I don't know what is going through Ronaldo's head, but I don't like the way that this keeps dragging on - I'd sooner Ronaldo publically states if he's staying or if he's going, at least then United and it's fans would know. He hasn't even approached Sir Alex or David Gill with any demands either.

That's the issue. His dragging this along! Honestly, I know Ronaldo expresed his interest in playing for us but I would love to see players see out their contracts. I mean, thats what contracts are for afterall. He is still very young and if he wants to play elsewhere he'll hve time to do so. I hope everything gets sorted out. Ill be honest with you guys, as a madrid supporter, I do not want Ramos and Robinho to go anywhere, for obvious reasons. I don't think its necessary to get Ronaldo (although hes the best in the world atm) but if he comes it'll be exciting. I just hope chemistry, attitudes in the lockeroom dont distract. Im still recovering from our galactico days!

By the way, Ive enjoyed discussing this with you guys on this board. I havent heard anything out of line at all. You guys are very welcoming of opinions, unlike some other boards. Lets all hope this Ronaldo saga comes to an end soon

Me too. It's always nice to have a good conversation with real football fans, unfortunately the few idiots give the rest of us a bad name (especially here on the United side of things)

If you're talking to me, I actually agree with you and want to make it clear that as far as I'm concerned, united comes before any of it's individual players. Always has, always will. I just find Ronaldo's attitude to be very callous and selfish. I would have thought after the world cup debacle that he'd be a little more loyal to fergie, who completely pulled the boy's ass out of the fire.

unfortunatly this is what you get for paying ppl too much money and blowing smoke up their ass every week..

What troubles me more though. is theres never smoke without fire.. how many times through our football history have we seen these same tactics.. specualtion about a players future everybody denies it - Next thing u know vamoose hes gone like the wind..

-- i love united but if Ronaldo wants to play silly buggers id be happy to watch him sit on th bench for a season or 2. that would be funny as :biggrinx:

We'll if he does go, it will be interesting to see how he will fare at Real. But i wouldn't mind like 50 mil plus Robinho either. Sneijder would be nice, but we have Anderson, Carrick and Hargreaves all still with lots of years ahead of them.
