Believe me I work in the Amsterdam Arena and I see him playing week in week out, and it says all that Ajax hasn't scored for 4 matches in a row. But like someone posted maybe he just needs a new environment, like Van Der Vaart. Sure he scored a few screamers, but he doesn't shoot often with the ability he has....IMO Nigel de Jong would add more then Sneijder, he can play any position and score goals. This year De Jong has carried Ajax more then Sneijder...

And IMO getting Maxwell is not needed, we already have one of the best leftbacks around,

Ballack is also absolutely not a target, he has a chance of winning the CL with Bayern so no chance of getting him in January.

I am sure that SAF will go for an unknown 'good' player or a surprise purchase for Bouba Diop. IMO De Jong or Diop would be absolutely good signings. I prefer Diop, he is already a proven player, big, strong, young and talented, with a dangerous shot. What else do we need atm.
We know that Ballack won't come in January, and it would be dumb to get him then as he is cup-tied, but at the end of the season his contract expires, and we can get him on a free. If we can put together more solid performances and big wins, and get somewhere in the Champions League that could lure him to Old Trafford in the summer.

But yes, if he extends his contract or goes somewhere else, I would like to see Diop come to United. Maybe we could give Fulham back Sicknote in exchange for Diop. :rockman:

I THINK Zokora would be a good signing as well, he does well in France, I'm just not sure how he would do in the EPL.

i think we should sign Ronaldinho, Kaka and Adriano.

realistically, i'd like papa diop in the team, or maybe even steed malbranque

Personally, I don't think that Malbranque is good enough for United. Obviously, a midfielder is a better option than a non-midfielder for a midfield spot, but I'd like to see someone better than him to fill the spot.

somehow i feel no matter who we sign, smith will be the one who suffer most. now he is playing as a DM when keane out. imagine we get a DM as "keane replacement" in January, what position fergie will play smith? certainly he will out of fergie plan and perhaps put him back as a striker. you'll expect he is telling the media something like "he is a natural striker or bla bla" but he'll never play him until either rooney, nistelrooy, or the new DM rested or out of injury. i'll happy if smith back on his natural position but i think he'll spend most of his time on the bench instead of playing as a striker.

instead of looking for a DM, i think we should go for an attacking midfielder as well. even though scholes and fletcher did all right in last match but i'm not expect they will bring us more in the rest of the season and probably they will back to normal or worst again in the next game. i'm happy to read that fergie will splash the cash in January but i wonder who is that right person (hopefully he does make a right decision)

I don't care if Smith only have 1 minute of playing time per game cos' the fact is 90 % of the matches when he started as a midfielder all come out with a ****ty result, a ****ty performance or both.

Smith is a forward, and if we get some midfielder in January, then he gotta earn his place in the team. And what's wrong having him as a bench anyway ? We are practically only have two uninjured experienced forwards anyway, and both of them are injury prone . . .

Malbranque would be a decent signing as he can play anywhere along the midfield. Quite creative and cheap but I doubt his quality in a United shirt.

rumors again. just read it from a chinese forum

Manchester United are monitoring Iker Casillas’ contract talks with Real Madrid and are ready to make him a huge offer to move to Old Trafford next summer if a deal is not agreed by January.

The Spanish international goalkeeper has claimed that he wants to stay at El Bernabéu for the rest of his career, but unless the club make him an offer to match the top earners in the squad he may turn elsewhere.

Reports in Spain suggest that madrid are aware of Manchester United’s advances as Malcolm Glazer looks to rebuild the squad at Old Trafford and bring back the glory days.

Casillas though will only be tempted by a switch from the club where he came through the ranks if they make it clear that they are not ready to meet his wage demands.

"What do you want me to say?" he said recently.

"I will say the same I always have said, that I am a Madridista and that I intend to carry on with Real Madrid and end my career here.

"Nothing has changed in this sense."

Casillas¡ current deal at Madrid expires at the end of the season and despite both sides saying they are ready to sit down and talk, only limited negotiations have taken place so far.

The training in Holland is more intensive then Ruud etc are used to in England, not only Ruud was injured after a few days of training, Van Bommel and Boateng were also pulled out of the match and a few other players were lightly injured, I hope that he will be fit for next Sunday's match.
