Lazio Roma are tracking him at the moment. IMO he hasn't been impressive this season. He could add alot in set-pieces though, one thing he can't do is shoot from a large distance, he hasn't got the power for it, so on that note he will never replace Scholes with his screamers.

I've watched Sneijder play on few occasions but you are wrong about his shooting. I've watched him score belters for Holland and Ajax. Sneijder may not be impressive but you can see with van der Vaart, a new club will probably influence his playing again.

Lazio are tracking Sneijder? I would think it would take at least 10-15 million Euro to pry him from Ajax, and Lazio, even now, dont have a pot to piss in. They have a couple of good youngsters, but I cant really see them spending cash they, theoretically, dont have.

However, if Maniche wants out of Moscow (who is surprised at that, really?) then that is undoubtedly the man for the job:
-Excellent at Euro 2004, as if anyone doubted his quality from his Porto days
-Box to box
-Wouldnt be expensive, especially if he is looking to get out
-Isnt cup tied
-Is only 28/29
-Wouldnt command a huge salary

I recalled hearing during the Vieira to Madrid saga that Wenger wanted Maniche to replace him if he left. Then a year later, I heard he and Costinha were off to Moscow and I wondered just what the hell happened to him. When I heard that, knowning that Jose had bought Tiago, I was asking myself why the hell he just didnt bring Maniche instead or as well. Sure he is older, but in my opinion he wouldve offered Chelsea alot more than guys like Smertin or Jarosik, who are now, of course, gone again.

What?! I would've let go the "hasn't been impressive this season" part but you're totally wrong in describing him.

First of all, he has been very impressive this season. Are you kidding me? He is the person carrying the Ajax team right now and he is the team's representative. Let's see... two goals against Brondby, the tying goal against Prague, two goals against AZ... and how many of them were long-distance shots that went in? More than half of them. Wesley Sneijder is KNOWN for his screamers.

And no, he's not leaving Ajax so forget it.

Get Ballack, his temper and determination just fits with our team, and we are in need of a midfielder. Maniche is a good player, but he is a guy who choose to play in Russia rather than keeping his game in top league, so I really wonder does this guy got the edge for a championship team. Antonio Cassano is also available in January, and the boy really needs some playing time to get into the Italian WC squad, plus we can't deny that we also got injury problems with our attacking department. But then again, it's Juve that would likely to get him. We also need a good left back, Maxwell of Ajax is also available in January, but we got Juve to face cos' they also want him.

In conclusion, we got injuries in every department :|:|:|

cup-tied means unavailable to play for a different club in a competition as the player has represented a previous club in the same competition that very season...

here is where i get it from

Man Utd to push St Etienne to cash in on Zokora

Manchester United are set to splash out on St Etienne midfielder Didier Zokora in January.
The Mirror says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been handed £10 million for the winter market and Zokora tops his shopping list.

Crucially, Zokora is not cup-tied for the Champions League and is available from St Etienne for around £8 million.

The French club's president confirmed last month he was prepared to sell the midfielder, but prefers not to lose the youngster until the summer.

so it meens he can play the champions league , i hope we gone get him, he plays like essien and he is international.

Skysports.com understand Newcastle United are lining up a move for Fulham star Papa Bouba Diop.

The Magpies are looking at options to strengthen their squad when the transfer window reopens and are believed to have targeted a move for Diop.

Diop has quickly established himself as one of the best players in The Premiership and he has carried his fine form from last season into this campaign.

Magpies boss Graeme Souness is believed to be a big fan of Diop and sees the powerful midfielder as a key addition to his squad, as he aims to win a place in Europe this season.

Diop's performances for Fulham have caught the attention of a host of clubs, with Chris Coleman aware the Senegal ace is a target for several sides.

The player's agent Willie McKay insists that despite the speculation, nothing can be done until an offer is made to Fulham and that the West London club are still hoping to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

"I am aware of the speculation of other clubs looking at Papa, but until someone makes an official bid to Fulham, obviously nothing can be done," McKay told skysports.com.

"Papa's performances have been outstanding since he has been at Fulham and I am not surprised there is interest.

"I have spoken to Lee Hoos (Fulham chief executive) and they are still looking to give him a new contract and we will wait and see what happens."

I feel that Diop is a player that we (could) go after, he is proven in the EPL and is a great player.

few opening paragraphs
How do you beat Chelsea? Follow these three simple steps. Get your loose cannon of a captain to condemn most of his team-mates.

Then loft a deep cross to a seemingly nondescript midfielder, one of those criticised and a player of no known aerial ability, and watch him head in from an improbable angle.

Finally, watch your dilettante defender star in a sterling rearguard action.

“We are not happy because we lost, but we feel proud of the way the team performed and proud to participate in the game. I believe it isn't a fair result for my team, but at the same time they were in front and defended everything with a lot of spirit and a lot of effort and they won a game. For sure they have a better future and will be more close to us, but I still believe we showed today why we are champions and why we are top of the league.”

Why ? Maureen was right on the spot there. Let`s face it we won by a fluke goal. Not that I am not happy with it, but then again we are very lucky to get three points and it was unlucky for Chelsea to not getting any. The first half performance was just right, but in the second half the blue jerseys are all over the pitch, and when we have the opportunity to counter attack, we made wrong passes and blew it up. That was a good win for us, but if we keep on continue playing like that, without luck on our side then we are still the same team that were raped alive by Boro and Lille.

Believe me I work in the Amsterdam Arena and I see him playing week in week out, and it says all that Ajax hasn't scored for 4 matches in a row. But like someone posted maybe he just needs a new environment, like Van Der Vaart. Sure he scored a few screamers, but he doesn't shoot often with the ability he has....IMO Nigel de Jong would add more then Sneijder, he can play any position and score goals. This year De Jong has carried Ajax more then Sneijder...

And IMO getting Maxwell is not needed, we already have one of the best leftbacks around,

Ballack is also absolutely not a target, he has a chance of winning the CL with Bayern so no chance of getting him in January.

I am sure that SAF will go for an unknown 'good' player or a surprise purchase for Bouba Diop. IMO De Jong or Diop would be absolutely good signings. I prefer Diop, he is already a proven player, big, strong, young and talented, with a dangerous shot. What else do we need atm.

I know it was a fluke, I know it wasn't a good win, I know we will **** up our next games, I still don't think Fletcher should wear United shirt, I still think that Smith isn't a midfielder etc. etc., but man, how big ego can one have.

Haha, totally agree, some peepz just doesn't realize how difficult it is to beat Chelsea. Just be happy with the result, when was the last time any EPL team beat Chelsea. This could be the start of Chelsea's downfall as everybody has seen how to beat this Chelsea just like the way we showed other teams how to beat Arsenal, Wenger just doesn't realize that adjusting his tactics for the slightest bit can do wonders, look were they are now. Man u hasn't been to good this year, but there is a lot of potential in this team everything will be allright in the future. SAF is in the middle of rebuilding a team which he hasn't finished yet. Tell me how many teams play nice football week in week out and get a good result out of it, maybe only Barcelona, in the end people won't remember how we got the 3 points.
