"I could never play for another club in Spain and the truth is that if you are leaving Real Madrid, there is only one club you can join that is not a step down - and that's Manchester United," is quoted in the Daily Express.

"They are a huge club and if the reported interest they have in me turns out to be true, then I would really have to sit down and listen.

"If Manchester United could offer me first-team football with the situation as it is at Madrid, it would be very hard to turn down. Alex Ferguson is a great coach and I would never think about joining a team where I didn't believe I could win things, so all of a sudden that limits your choices.

"At Manchester United you know success is likely and that's a big factor for me at this stage of my career.

"If [Real boss] Jose Mourinho makes it clear I won't play much, I see my future in English football."

-Van der Vaart

Its time for you guys to get your "cerebro" for your midfield. You badly need a creative midfield, I think Van der Vaart is class more so b4 he joined Madrid his form was great.

Put him with Carrick/Fletcher to do the dirty work, and he will provide Rooney and Co with a lot of assists(Y)

I've been a long time admirer of Van der Vaart, but the truth is that he's injury prone and inconsistent. His profile has essentially been created when he was a 17 year old captain at Ajax, and when he was playing well for Hamburg. Every time he's been asked to take a step to that next level he has disappointed or gotten injured.

Of course, if he came cheap he would certainly have to be considered, but I don't see how he contributes anything that you don't already have in the squad. At worst he eats up wages and stunts the development of younger players.

Fergie always tends to ignore these "come and get me" pleas from players. I think Fergie is satisfied with our team and won't be making any more additions. We do have a complete team IMO but Scholes isn't getting any younger. If Anderson can step up and play at a level close to Scholes then I'd say we don't need any more player.

Help?

Where was he when we wanted him a few years back? He can now sit and chip nails at Madrid. Thanks but no thanks

Yeah, Possebon could have been big for us, never was the same player again after that terrible tackle from Pogatetz in the Carling Cup....wish him all the luck

Vidic signed a 4 years contract. Excellent news. As long as he plays, we're assured at the back. I have a feeling its gonna be Evan's year. I can't see Ferdinand playing in the near future.

I think he had attitude issues as well, Braga sent him back early from a loan because of difficulties.

Rooney is out of today's match against Fulham.

Chicharito-Berbatov pairing, anyone?

I've read it too but its nowhere on skysports or any other more trust-able website. I'm sure Chicharito-Berbatov would do very well. Probably better than Rooney-Berbatov. Chicharito and Berbatov seem to have a good understanding.

Yes. That is what I was thinking. Of what I have seen of them, they seem to gel very well. But Rooney may eventually play. Let's see what the starting 11 is.

If matches were novels, this one would be a best-seller.

EDIT: Fulham are a really good team, they proved that last season, and they worked hard today and it was a fair result. Nani should've done better with the pen, but it was a dodgy pen. Hughes and Zamora were brilliant for Fulham, and VdS would be my stand-out for ManU. Berbatov has been getting too much stick in recent seasons, he really just needs to be used properly, because he's a quality player. People are going to keep going crazy for Scholes, and understandably, but today he didn't do much, and he's not going to last the whole season. He and Giggs always star in the opening games because the're well-rested. When it gets to a few games a week, you'd be cursing the fact that they're your creative spark. But I've been saying that for years.

Zamora has become a brilliant targetman, but Evans really was crap today. He made him look like Drogba.
