Rooney is banned for 2 games for swearing at the camera and this guy gets nothing for saying this:

Will the FA investigate this? No! they won't.
He didn't yell it at a television camera.

Swearing at a ref is worse than swearing at a national public audience?

To me yes it is. Swearing at the ref to me is like swearing at your teacher at school. Fergie got banned for 5 games for saying that "the ref was not fair" and Reina gets nothing for saying the f word to the ref? Come on. I don't think thats fair at all.

That being said, I'm not saying that Rooney shouldn't have been banned. He deserved some sort of punishment. But if he's been punished, other players should be punished too for doing similar offences.

Also of note, there's no rule that says that "every player who swears at the camera should be banned for 2 games".

Btw I know you're a United hater. Admit it.

A more appropriate analogy for this would be
player swearing at the ref :: teacher swearing at a parent
player swearing at the camera :: teacher swearing at students.

Which has more of a fallout?

Players swear all of the time, even to refs, and it is up to the refs discretion whether it is a bookable offense or not. What is said on the pitch stays on the pitch, until you yell it into a public television camera.

I don't hate the team. I hate fans (not you) that think the footballing world revolves around ManU, and the subsequent hype it creates about its players. Also, ManU fans have been making excuses for Rooney's behavior for years now, and never admit that he simply has an attitude problem. It doesn't mean he's not a player worth having, but you get the bad with the good.

No footballing rule actually says that. This is just your opinion. IMO referees should be more strict about abusive language.

Lets take a loot at the FIFA football rules:

Sending-off Offences

A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any
of the following seven offences:

• Serious foul play
• Violent conduct
• Spitting at an opponent or any other person
• Denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
• Denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
Using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
• Receiving a second caution in the same match

A player, substitute or substituted player who has been sent off must leave the vicinity of the fi eld of play and the technical area.

Going by these rules, Reina should have been sent off.

There's no mention about swearing at the camera deserving more punishment in the FIFA "laws of the game":

Page 36.

So saying "f*cking what" to the camera or saying "no f*cking way" to the ref are both equivalent if you go by these rules. Both deserve punishment.

Many United fans are like this and thats a shame.

Yes, Reina should have been sent off according to the rules. Like I said, realistically, I think all refs tolerate a certain amount of verbal abuse and whether they get a red depends on the ref and the circumstances.

Rooney's punishment is not about what he did in the context of the match, it's about swearing on public tv on what is supposed to be a family-friendly broadcast, hurting the league's image. If the camera had accidentally picked it up, I don't think it would have been a big deal, but Rooney purposely directed it at a live feed.... stupid.

I don't necessarily agree with the punishment, but I certainly understand why the FA cares more about what Rooney did.

We're starting with only 3 players from the Chelsea match, with Berbatov as the only pure striker and what does the bulgarian mobster do? (H)

In that case I think it is unfair because refs are not following the real laws of the game. They are modifying or changing laws in a way.

Great game so far. Nani with 2 more amazing assists. Now 19 assists. **** the FA.

Kuszczak said he'll be leaving United this summer. Can't blame him as we're supposedly looking for a new number 1 and having Lindegaard as a class back up.

2-0 HT. looking good. Nani berba having great games. Nani especially toying with fulham. If he's not the best player this season, then i dont know who is. Only in England, you get such stupid nominations for best players.

I think kuszcak should leave. He will never be number 1 at united.

No he should stay. He's an excellent backup. He's saved us many times when VDS was injured. He's not good enough as #1 but I like him as backup. He rarely ****ups like Foster.

How many assists does he need to do to get nominated? 50?

That's complete bs. We all know he has a problem ever since we bought him.

P.S. You've had undeserving players win the award before...Ryan Giggs?

Again that shows how ****ed up the PFA nominations are. Giggs should have never won the award, but then again the players decide on these so thats not in the hands of the FA.

Help?

Fan Favourite
Giggs only won because everybody thought that he was about to retire and was YET to win the award. Giggs wasn't the best of the best THAT particular year, but after 18 years of EPL football he deserved that award more than anybody that ever played in the EPL. As for Bale, he truly doesn't deserve this.
