3-0 over Sunderland. Much needed, but we're now in a dogfight for 4th with Everton and most likely Aston Villa. Man City will fall off.

There will be no dogfight. We'll get 4th easily. I know we aren't great this season but Everton, Villa and City won't be consistent at all.

But they don't have to worry about the Champions League.

BTW, Mascherano seems to believe he will sign....I guess that means pressure on Mr. Alonso to keep/regain his place(injuries aside, that is). I never thought I'd say that with Sissokkkkko gone.

Liverpool 1-2 BARNSLEY.........can it get any worse....right......now?

Oh, and, in case you're wondering, Inter won their game 2-0.

The Barnsley GK had the game of his life today, otherwise the result would have been very different.

Benitez is hopeless. With the players he has, he has no excuses at all. One CL trophy does not compensate for one crap season after another.

Rafa bought the wrong players.. Kuyt is some stupid cowboy without skills, Finnan is a joke ,Cara and Sami are oldies, Babel is an overrated monkey, Kewell is a very good player with good skills and ability, but he just lost his hunger for wins. Riise as well.
The only class players on the roster are Steve G & Torres, so what more can you expect than one 8-0 achievement for the whole season?

Rafa caused himself troubles. Cos half of the bad players are ones he brought in Pool on his own.

Problem is, he couldn't buy better ones during the Jan transfer window. So now either he'd go out asap or he would pull out a miracle somehow.
Let us wait and see..

Agree

Have to agree that the only world class players in the current team are Torres and Gerrard. Most of the rest are just players of a good standard, which I could live with if there was just another player in the team who could score that all important goal other than Torres and Gerrard

Better performance

Much better team performance we looked strong tonight against Inter. Don't think they had any shots on target the whole game, and can only remember one corner.

Torres looked quick and everyone looked assured and in control

The failed to beat a championship side on sat. and now they defeated the best squad in Seria A 2 - 0? ,

Maybe burnsley is a better side then Inter :)

Liverpool have to repeat this again in the 2nd leg if Benitez is to have any future in this club.

What the hell are you talking did you watch the game?!?!? I thought they'd never score, they where playing of the worst football i've ever seen! And against a ten men inter side! I mean i'm glad they've beaten inter but the way liverpool play is a shame for such a prestigious club!

Worst football you've ever seen? Wow. Just because you may not like it, doesn't make it any worse. It took Liverpool to two European finals, it's bloody effective in Europe.

Were we watching the same game?

Its true that it took them a while to break down inter, but at last they did.
how can you say they played the worst football you have ever seen? perhaps its the only game you have watched so far.. ? i dont know man. You might as well watch the game over again, yes they were playing against 10 mens but in my opinion, they had a good overall performance, one of the better ones recently , considering the 2 - 1 humiliation by Burnsley on the weekend.

Well just flicking the ball over the whole midfield area to torres hoping he scores every time they where in possesion is how clubs in Croatia play, and not the better ones so yes i have seen such bad football but not from clubs with such big names, and also taking babel of - wtf?!?! Benitez is an idiot, he's ******* up your club!!!

If it works, and it worked against Inter, I'm not complaining. Of course, we'd all want all the teams to play like Brazil 1970, beautifully and winning stuff, but if we can't, then I'll take the winning stuff. Not that Liverpool have been doing that at all, but still...

Yes... it didn't work against inter, materazzi worked against inter not liverpools game. Although i hate inter i must admit taht i'm afraid that they will eat liverpool up on san siro. :( Wish you luck though!

Well, what else do you want if you're playing the Italian league leaders? a 2-0 win is always good. Sure, Materazzi's sending off helped a lot, but you can only play what's ahead of you, and if 10 men Inter is facing you, you have to beat them, which Liverpool did.

As for expecting Liverpool to lose in San Siro, worry not. Juve was supposed to destroy us back in 2005, then it was Chelsea, then it was AC Milan.
