meh, they'll end up paired against a better team cos they finished 2nd, dun think they'll get past the first round. and if they meet chelsea (I dun think its allowed in the first knockout round issit) then i think chelsea'll pip them this time around.

Knocked out of League Cup....sooner or later Chelsea will start dominating these Cup games against us unless Rafa tries something quite different....frankly I think he should just field a reserve team for this competition. Time to regroup...historically not a particularly strong period for us...points are needed if we are to stay within shouting distance. With a healthy Xabi Alonso we can get some better stability in the midfield.

Hmm, well, if it means we have more time to concentrate in the League, I'm all for it. Been feeling quite bad/sad since the Man Utd game though.

Yes, that was a definite let down. It seems like every year, Wenger is winning these League Cup games with a bunch of kids...if they lose, their lack of experience takes most of the sting out of the result and they get valuable playing time. I would hate to have Carragher get injured in the quarter-final of this itty-bitty competition. If we were 17 points back and the league was clearly out of reach then yeah, play some regulars. But if Chelsea aren;t out of it, we too must have a shot if we can win that game in hand............

yah, i respect Crouchy as a person somewhat but wtf was that lunge. Didn't see it happen right away, I looked away so I thought the ref was gonna give the card to Obi Mikel when I came back but Jon played a clean game today.

No offence, but even if he'd played a different side, I don't think that using some of the other guys would've made a huge difference. There isn't a huge change in quality of what Liverpool would consider their 'B' team to their 'A' team with maybe the exception of Agger, Torres, and Gerard.

The worst thing about that lunge, was he didn't even do any damage to Mikel :(

He just made a awful foul, look even worse. He got sent off for causing no damage at all, but making it look like he were going to.

CL draw spits out Internazionale. I think we need to be confident about the approach to it though....can;t crawl up into a shell and just avoid a beating, because that's what will happen if we do.

I am excited for this draw.

I think this tie has the potential to become a classic!

May the best team win and may we see plenty of goals from Inter!

Nah, just kidding! ;)

lol Crouch's face when he made that lunge.

Yep yep, Inter can do one here, depends on Benitez I think. problem is that they can hold italian teams back but it's pointless unless someone (i'm lookin at you Steven) scores 30 m goals for them. I'd favour liverpool in this one as long if Torres can get in (not Babel or Crouch ffs on this one) but face it, inter's the better team when they're on form; best draw of the round for me.

4-1 over Portsmouth. Torres X2. See we're capable of it if we're not intimidated (which we seem to be against the top 3).

It's really sad that there is no pattern governing our displays....we can win in a rout and then turn around to lose in the most boring fashion possible. This must be a confidence booster, preferably a comfortable win, rather than a nervous draw/defeat.

The last time we went to Derby was exactly 6 years ago, when we won 1-0 courtesy of a goal from an England international.....you might remember him....Michael Owen. A penalty save kept the score 1-0.

Anything that does not spell out WIN/VICTORY/TRIUMPH (or something with the same meaning) is a ****ing disaster!!!!!! This is a must-win game!!!!!!

squeaked out win over Derby...avoided utter disaster so atleast that's something. Torres' goal was great!!!!

Crucial game coming up against Man City....in terms of the EPL, this game represents another 3 points that can;t be dropped.
