Germany who have won 3 world cups. 3 world cup runner ups. The best record for a European team. Based on current form, Scotland are better than Germany. Based on current form, Wales are one of the best teams in the world.

Holland have never won a world cup, lost to EIRE. Never made the world cup.
Spain, never won a world cup, never reached a world cup final. Hell, Spain's best record in the WC is 4th in 1950.
Turkey, Group phase in 1954 was the best they had ever achieved.

I can easily say those teams can't challenge for a world cup.

Let's look at Holland:

1974 - reached World Cup final, lost to hosts Germany
1978 - reached World Cup final, lost to hosts Argentina

As for England, it's called World Cup '66. Look into it. :read: :read: :read: :read: :read:

By the way, Uruguay have won two World Cups. So by your theory they are going to challenge for World Cup 2006 and the Netherlands, England, Portugal, Spain, Turkey won't.

The fact that the Sais only beat Liechtenstein 2-0 just goes to show how wasteful they are. They had several chances to score but missed too many, and to rub it in, Liechtenstein had some chances of their own as well...

They even hit the post... had they converted that and the chance in the first minute, it would have ended 2-2 and that would have really got the "national" press going for the knives.

I completely agree. England are overrated. Lichenstein could have had more than 2. England won't take anything from this match, will go into Wednesday's match and get their arses handed to them on a plate. No doubt the Sun and Mirror though will have headlines like "England seal comfortabl victory".

I could recall second rate was different than second class. And the last time I checked there was NO official made class..

There was no official class last time I checked either. It's how I class teams. It's an opinion like yours or mine.

Germany? Who were held to a 1-1 at home by Lithuania today? Yes they reached the final of the World Cup... with a string of highly unconvincing wins. Of course, they are a great team, but how can you put them in a different category from the Netherlands? If anything, Holland is better than Germany right now.

France? Who couldn't get out of the group stage at the World Cup? Italy? Who lost to Wales and tied with Serbia at home in Euro qualifying? Now there's no doubt these are all excellent teams, but how can you put them in a different category from teams like Turkey (World Cup 2002 semifinalists), Spain (who, if it wasn't for the ref, would have been semifinalists), Holland (who recently beat Germany and Argentina). How can you say those teams can't challenge for a World Cup? :kader: :kader: :kader:

Me living in the past? It was voetballiefhebb who started the whole thing of "they have won it before so they can challange for the World Cup and those who haven't can't." I wanted to point out that England have won it before and Holland have been in the final twice.

Do you even know what the argument is about?
Did you even read my post?

"By the way, Uruguay have won two World Cups. So by your theory they are going to challenge for World Cup 2006 and the Netherlands, England, Portugal, Spain, Turkey won't."

Translation: it is not neccesarily about whether they have won it before but more about how good of a team they are now.

So captain-beckham, I encourage you to actually read a person's post and the ones that preceded it before you make a dumbass comment like that.

No reason to argue about 2006, Faroe Islands will thrash everyone. ;)

Truthfully, i'd be embarrased to be England now, i wanted Liechtenstein to win this match -- it would've been great, their skipper isn't even a fulltime footballer, he makes wine.

England have the players do be world class. When the players play for England they are lazy and sometimes ****. They show no desire and passion. Having said this all the England squad play to their best at their clubs. Thers only one player on the England squad who wants to win the ball and thats Beckham. You can't keep depending on him.

On Wednesday i want England to play really well and silence their critics for a while untill they find something else to criticise about. It's about time England show how good they really can be if they put there mind to it.

As for people classing teams into 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes well that is utter bull ****. You can't class teams like this. There is one obvious reason, that international teams are so unpredictable, they play well for a few games then they go down hill then they play better etc. If you had a system like this you would have a team like Germany in 1st class then a few months down the line they go down to 3rd class etc. It's totally stupid!!

England players are played all wrong. They have the same problem as Liverpool. They lack width. Dyer showed yesterday he can't play on the left, every time he got to the byline, he kept turning back to his right foot. You can't be squandering chances like that.

Every time the ball goes out to the wings, it's knocked back into the middle again. A few managers have criticised England for playing the "hoooooooof" game. It seems like the team is built around Owen. People who hit 50 yard long balls like Becks, Gerrard, Scholes into his path. It don't always work that way.

If England played more one touch football, and used the wings and had somebody decent who can head like Beattie in the box, then I think England would be in a better position than where they are today.

Joe Cole, skillful, fast, good vision, English, left footed. Excellent eh? What's the catch? He can't cross and plays better down the middle of the park. Typical eh.

Youve made a good point. The thing is with Sven is i thing he's using favourtism. 1st he puts James in goal, very bad idea. 2nd Why the **** didn't he call Beattie up? 3rd Southgate!! Why not Terry or Woody? 4th What about Joe Cole!!
As for playing "hoooooooooof" well that sometimes is the only way we can win games!

Beattie would be good at scoring the headers, thats why i think the team is still missing Shearer. He scored no end of headers.

I don't think Sven knows what he is doing. I think he calls players up by popularity.

James in goal was a joke. Although, he has put together a few clean sheets lately. I still think Robinson should go in. Or Wright.

Beattie was pissed off he said that he was not called up before Heskey or Rooney. I can see his point.

Joe Cole, Defoe and Carrick were all in the U21's. Ameobi deserves a call-up. He is exactly what England need. Quick, skillful as ****, moves fast. I am very impressed with him.

Beattie will learn to hold up the ball if he was along side a quick striker. I can see James being the next Shearer. I think he needs to move away from St Mary's though to aid his progress.
