I agree that he was really bad for this movie, and also do you agree that for such beautiful people all the sex scenes in the movie were dry, unerotic and totally boring?, but I wanted to ask, what do you think of Farrell as an actor generally?
I actually really quite like him, I thought he was great in The New World and I also though he had a lot of potential in movies like The Recruit. I agree he was totally miscast but I am still a fan.
He's one of the best (If not the best) celebrity interviews to listen to or read. I'm not much of a drinker, but if there was one person in the entire world right now that I could have as my wing-man and go out on a debauched bender, it'd be him. He's just a genuinely cool dude, man.
Now as far as his acting abilities go, I'm really ambivalent and unconvinced at the moment. He's been having trouble recapturing that award deserving performance from Tigerland, eh? Ever since that breakthrough role, he's been overexposing himself both on and off the screen like some trashy tabloids seeking attention-whore. He was trying too hard to live up to that badboy , Cocksman persona that the Hollywood system has concocted for 'em for quite a while now, and so as a result, his script selections became questionable at best, you know? It just seems to me that he was taking roles simply because of the big names attached to the projects that he might've admired growin' up or something and getting swept up and overwhelmed by his massive hype and publicity instead of carefully reading through them and seeing them for the pieces of **** and repetitive projects that they were. Now that he's had his run of making big blockbusters, dipped his Cock in just about every Hollywood starlet that you could name, and his fixation of being the industry's badass has waned down quite a bit, and he is financially set, I hope that he ups his standards in terms of the roles that he chooses, you know? Instead of being a cheap whore who can't turn down anything that's thrown his way. Luckily, he's got age on his side.
Here's my take on the movies from his filmography that I've seen.
Tigerland: as I've said earlier. This is his watershed thus far.
Phone Booth: I really enjoyed this one....one of his best outputs, for sure.
The Recruit: did an adequate job...nothing memorable. He was overshadowed by Pacino a bit, but that's to be expected. It was just a bland flick from top to bottom, man.
Minority Report: a very solid performance....no quibbles here.
SWAT: another mundane and tripe role....probably a quick cash grab for both he and Carlos*son because they were both garbage in it.
Daredevil: one word UTTER****.....a cringe inducing performance
Hart's War: did the best with what was given to him here....solid performance.
Alexander: DEARLORDNOOOO.......about as terribly miscasted as it can get, man. A messy piece of **** on all fronts (even Kilmer...but he rules, so we'll forgive 'em) Anyway, some casting c/unt probably thought..."Oh, so we're competing with a movie about the same exact subject that's gonna star Dicaprio, let's get the hottest, most publicized actor around right now"
Again, I really can't blame 'em for choosing this role, as it probably had some great potential in its project phase, but it still doesn't excuse 'em from his horrid performance, man.
The New World: What an epic...literally, eh? Heh. Oh man, this movie was a masterpiece in its cinematography and engrossing storytelling, eh? It probably could've been edited down a bit, but as far as the acting goes, it was a joy to watch Colin, Pocahontas (she's legal, right?. Not that it'd stop me from whacking it to her or nothing), and Bale in the last half of the movie.
Again, an excellent performance.....probably his second best thus far.
BTW, I've heard some great things about Intermission, have you seen it? I've been meaning to see it for sometime now, and I even actually got the chance to some time back when it aired on the television here (mid-afternoon I think it was), and I just unknowingly passed it over, thinking that it was some ho-hum Brit flick or something.....too bad.
