Look guys this is getting way out of hand
Donovan was on the cover for three reasons
1. to sell better to an American public because of such things as NBA and NFL games in the market
2. He is seen as the best USA football player currently
3. Friedal another good player wouldnt be as recognised
Why such a low rating
1. The USA team if i remember got a low rating as well to keep inline with privous form (forgot WC ill explain below)
2. Leverkusen dont have him regularly in the starting line up so to make the game realistic they put his abilities low to cater for that also he hasnt been carting up the european soccer scene as of late and many people outside of USA that arent die hard fans of football would never have heard of him
3. It all comes down to starting line ups and current form not really how good he is
What about the WC?
1. Senegal, South Korea, USA, Japan, turkey i mean who cares the championship was played in Asia and maybe they were suited to the conditions, as many Europeans werent exactly comfortable there.
2. WC was pretty bad (as marketing the best ever) and as for really footbal it was shocking like who really thought that one single game there got game of the year. The only game with a chance was the first game Senegal vs France only because the champions got beat in the first game and cause the end of their reign.
3. Footbal no matter who it is, is luck and to say USA didnt ride on luck but pure talent is as much bulltwang as saying they rode totally on luck.
Future?
USA does look bright but remember WC brilliance doesnt mean European success remember some of the Senegals and Koreans are struggling in England while a chinese man (man i cant remember) is a hero in Man City.
Ronaldo again has gone cold and many people who werent at the WC are playing there best games in years
USA will have more Friedals and Donovans at a more faster rate
Canada will also improve as the man from Everton has proved Canada is a talented lot.
What about the Europeans at the WC?
some say 'ohh but it was a long campaign' i believe no one wanted to give 100% and wanted to get back to there lucrative club sides and thats what caused the upsets in the WC.
