Pessotto should have retired 5 years ago. Birindelli is under rated and Capello don't seem to like him, but his knee is screwed anyway.

Zlatan confirmed today that Juve captain no longer deserves starting place. I still think Del Piero should stay, but Trez and Zlatan need all time together to develop partnership. Next season, Patrick Vieira ( c ). I don't care he hasn't even been at the club for year; he runs the side. People complain Zlatan is inconsistent, by starting him more often he would become less inconsistent... moral of the story, DP < Zlatan.

vieira will never captain juve, although he is a great leader, but thuram, cannavaro, zambrotta, emerson, nedved all help to show direction on the field

next captain will be zambrotta, who will probably hold it until his career ends

zlatan has started about 98% of games since moving to juve :|

Zlatan was nice, the English version was far worse than the original article in la Gazzetta. Damn media!

yeah i could believe that. the media has a tendency to do such. i think we all fall victim to believing the media bull**** sometimes.

Well, just finished watching the highlights (thank you ice), and while I'm thrilled, I'm irritated. They way totti acted there with Nedved, when kicked him in the head, even if it was not hard, it doesn't show good sportmansship. Also, the dice that made sure Thuram was sent off...sad :nape:

I was positive that Milan would lose also (Y) Just didn't want to say anything and jinx it.

Its great that Juve play Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia before they go heads up in the league.

5 points !

Luca Toni with 2 ...wow.

The Milan derby is coming up soon also (the weekened after Juve's game vs Fiorentina i believe) so theres another potential pitfall for Milan. And they need to concentrate on the CL... they are in trouble there too (Y)

True, starts more than I made out, but when Trez and DP are fully fit it has been less often (less so this year), in terms of the Trezeguet-Zlatan partnership, I'm saying they need more game together to continue to develop. However, Del Piero has been pretty much fit this season and Zlatan is higher in pecking order.

I agree all those players are captain material... but Vieira has just been awesome... I suppose would not really matter, he would still prove on field leader in his play.

Juventus enter fray as Keane sits down to ponder offers from home and abroad
Roy Keane will this morning sit down with his advisors to discuss the offers of employment from the continent, as well as Scotland and England, that have come in since the midfielder parted company with Manchester United on Friday. The most intriguing of these comes from Juventus but there has also been interest from a prominent club in Spain.

As yet there has been no official approach from the Italian champions, who are five points clear at the top of Serie A, for Keane but there has already been contact and part of Keane's assessments this morning will focus on the concrete nature of many of the proposals. Juve have Patrick Vieira in their midfield already, and Emerson, but Keane's camp have been encouraged by the noises they have heard via a third party.

Juve's interest may not yet be as long standing or as solid as Celtic's but the thought of a final hurrah in Serie A is known to be tempting the 34-year-old.

Keane would be able to join Juventus immediately having become a free agent when his contract at Old Trafford was paid up but there is some confusion as to his status within England.

Yesterday an FA official said that the Irishman would not be able to join another Premiership club until January 1, but it is believed that Keane's representative Michael Kennedy, a solicitor, does not share that view.

Kennedy is thought to believe that Keane could play for another English club this weekend and will seek clarification this morning. Of the many Premiership clubs that have contacted Keane, Middlesbrough are understood to have been the first and most persistent.

Steve McClaren, who worked with Keane when he was at Old Trafford, refused to comment on the subject after Boro's win over Fulham at the Riverside yesterday but Boro might be in a position to offer a player-coach role and that would have some appeal to Keane.

However, Keane is still reluctant to play for another English club against United and Celtic can offer Keane something closer to home than Juventus.

Vieira and Keane on the same team ? heh. no way.

34... hardly the player he once was and we're already well covered in his position.

Won't happen.

Juventus deny Sagnol deal
Monday 21 November, 2005
Juventus have dismissed reports that they have already signed Bayern Munich’s Willy Sagnol – but have hinted a deal is imminent.

The French international is said to have agreed to a four-year stint with the Italian giants once his contract at Bayern expires in the summer.

However, Luciano Moggi insists nothing has been agreed even if he seemed to confirm that Sagnol would be heading to Turin.

"Sagnol is an excellent defender, one who interests us," the director general is quoted as saying. "However, we still haven’t signed him yet."

The right-back, also linked with Valencia and Manchester United, is expected to replace Jonathan Zebina in the side next term.

The latter, plagued by injury so far this season, is expected to be sold after he requested a new improved contract.

Meanwhile, Juventus have also ruled out a move for Antonio Cassano in the January transfer market.

Associated with the Turin giants seeing as his contract expires in the summer, the Bianconeri insist they have no need for any more attackers.

"Cassano is a Roma player who is going through a very delicate situation, therefore I don’t really want to touch this theme," chief operating officer Antonio Giraudo said on Monday.

"All I will say it that Cassano is a great player, but we have a complete attack. We already have great champions and our attacking options are very competitive."

Del Piero to face Belgians
Monday 21 November, 2005
Alessandro Del Piero is set to start in Juve’s Champions League match against Club Brugge on Tuesday night.

No longer guaranteed a first-team place under Fabio Capello, Del Piero has nevertheless been given the go ahead to face the Belgians - in their Group A match at the Stadio Delle Alpi - due to the suspension of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"Del Piero will play," confirmed Juventus Coach Fabio Capello. "Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved and Mauro Camoranesi will represent our attacking players."

It is rare that Capello is so open about his side before a big match, but perhaps the convincing win over Roma has restored his confidence.

Del Piero, meanwhile, is ready to take on a Brugge side that has greatly improved in the Belgian League since the two sides met on the opening day of the tournament group stages.

"It will be a hard game," he said. "We are up against a side that hopefully won’t play as well as they have got used to playing recently because, as always, we want to win. It is important for us to make the most of home advantage."

Respectful as ever, the captain is not one to make brash statements. In fact, according to the 31-year-old, this is one of the secrets to Juve’s success.

"We fear no-one but we always have the greatest respect," added the Italy icon.

"When we keep both of these two factors in mind we have much more chance of winning than if we only think about one of them."

Roma should take note. All of the hot air that emanated from Giallorossi headquarters ahead of their match with the Turin giants came to nothing and they were left suitably humiliated.

Del Piero insists that, just as his teammates avoided becoming embroiled in a war of words with Roma’s outspoken players, so it would be equally unbecoming of his side to boast about their decisive win.

"Winning in Rome was great regardless of what was said in the build-up," he revealed.

"If anything, what was said beforehand ensured that we kept playing at 100 per cent and working really hard right up until the final whistle."

Del Piero for Ibrahimovic is the only team change from the side that won 4-1 on Saturday, as Capello goes all out for the win that would guarantee the Bianconeri a place in the last 16.

A draw would even be enough for Juventus to progress to the next stage, while for Brugge, who are already guaranteed a UEFA Cup place, a share of the spoils would leave them hoping that SK Wien upset the odds to beat Bayern Munich.

Capello ‘agrees’ to Real move

Fabio Capello will leave Juventus to boss Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain.

Radio Cadena Cope claimed today that Capello agreed to move to Los Meringues to revive the fortunes of the under-performing Spanish giants two weeks ago.

The report added that in order to ensure neither party backs out on the deal, a clause has been agreed, enforcing a financial penalty payable by whomsoever fails to honour the pact.

It is not known whether there is any substance to the report or whether it is merely wishful thinking on behalf of the Madrid side, who won the title under the Italian tactician in 1997.

For Real, lying in fourth place in the Primera Liga and losing 3-0 at home to Barcelona represents a crisis.

Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s days certainly seem numbered and Don Fabio may be just the man to come to the rescue again.

The subject of a move abroad was addressed by the Juve boss recently.

His contract with the Bianconeri expires in 2007 and, only yesterday, the 59-year-old admitted to Football Italia that he would be tempted by a move to foreign fields - although he cited England rather than Spain as the proposition that interested him.

"It would be very stimulating to go abroad," he said. "At my age I’m always looking for new stimuli and I’ve always said I’d be interested in going to England."
