Is This Becoming The Poorest WC Ever?

Help?

With goals like the ones scored by Maxi Rodriguez, van Persie, Frings, Torres, J. Cole etc. it can't be the worst. We are only half way through.

i wouldn't say this is the worst world cup ever. after all, i haven't witness every single world cup. but from the ones i've seen, this is actually one of the most exciting.

2002 will always be special to me because of korea's run, and as much as i love the underdog story, this world cup shows the traditional power houses still in the running, and that's intriguing. maybe i'm in the minority, but it's been brilliant.

Don't worry, Ghana will reach the semi-finlas :rockman:

what makes this world cup crappy is because 1/3 of the goals are scored in first 15 minutes or so.. i havent seen any great comebacks yet.

Its been pretty good so far I just hope the red card madness will end otherwise we might end up with a final with all the big name players missing through suspension.

yeah 94 was by far the worst WC ever.
For Greece, maybe. 4-0 was it? :p

I think the group stage of this World Cup was very entertaining to watch. Now in the second round, teams are playing much more conservatively. There's been a lot of drama though. Like someone pointed out already, it's far too early for this thread. Let's see the quarterfinals at least.

Anyone who says 1994 was the worst isn't old enough to remember 1990. I don't remember it either, but anyone who does will tell you that it was the worst ever.

oh and one thing i forgot to mention is that, i think the controversy around the refereeing has taken a lot of the spotlight from the games itself. and that's a shame.

World Cups are not remembered by the group stage matches and round of 16. It is the quater finals though to the final that determine the legacy of this event, like it or not. With all the traditional powers still remaining in this WC it is looking like it could be one of the best ever. Let's just hope there aren't many more games like Switzerland-Ukraine in the coming rounds.

Whats boring in this WC is that when its 1-0, it stays 1-0 or becomes 2-0. Only Ivory Coast is doing the great fight backs in all 3 of their games.

It's sad that such a high profile sport like Football has such a poor
standard of refereeing. Compare the quality of referees in Football
against Rugby (union & league) referees and there's a huge gap.
Being Football is the biggest sport in the world, you would naturally
think the quality would be second to none, but it's far from that.

FIFA need to pull their finger out of their ass, because right through
this World Cup there's been many highly questionable decisions...
For example, in the SUI 'Vs UKR match, there were atleast 5 hand-balls
that the referee did nothing about, if this happened in another sport that
doesn't allow hand-balls (such as Hockey), the referee would have been
right on top of it and hand out the necessary penalty.

Football may be the greatest sport (i think it is), but it has a long way to go...

was it a match ?
I think it was just a fight.
Did u watch any good paly ?the goal & van persie's ball ?
I expected 2 see a great game between two great teams & what I got was a fight..!
there was no football..
that's why i'm calling it boring.

Yeah, but that's not "boring". You never knew what could happen next and there was a frantic finish.
ya I was wondering who would take the next red card..lol
the exciting thing in that match was the fight
u were thinking would netherlands score because costinha & deco were sent off
but were u thinking like ,will van persie miss that chance ?can robben beat meira ?will ricardo resist that pressure ?how about another counter attack for portugal ?
I think that wasn't the case
it was like ?who is coming next for the red card ..!

I don't think it is the worst cup ever, I mean there have been great games and great finishes, just people are focusing more on the negatives like the reffing so it seems to be that way.
