Champion757;3162567 said:Nice job Iron_dog. I just tried your gameplay. CPU is very tough. They make quick passes and many times evade you when you try to tackle. It seems also that to tackle them, your guys have to be in position for the tackle before pressing the pressure buttons or else you'll miss the tackle. that's pretty good. It's tough to develop scoring chances, cpu defenders are very quick and they will intercept many passes. you have to make a lot of quick moves. it's much quicker than the gameplay i was working with, I was actually using lower POWERUP_RATE values at 2 instead of 5. it's funny that JohanCruyff said 5 was too low. i think 5 is pretty good but to each his own. that's also better at making it hard to tackle the cpu.
The long section starting with :
AI_ALL_ANIM_PLAYERS = 1
AI_RUN_AT_30HZ = 1
i don't know where you get these params and how they interact with the exe. these params seem exclusive to your gameplay. i wish we knew more about how you found those and what type of effect they have.
also you know how you included ini.big and config.dat? what is the difference in using your ai.ini with default config.dat or ini.big? does it really make a difference using your config.dat and ini.big with (i assume) the same ai.ini in there? i was never 100% sure about this, but i thought all you needed was ai.ini and the exe would take whatever values are in the ai.ini in fifa main directory over whatever is in config.dat or ini.big.
some other questions. how long halves do you play? and what type of possession % do you get vs CPU teams?
one thing is very impressive in your gameplay is the creativity of the cpu buildup. i played against arsenal and they really made some very creative passes and one-twos, types of passes i wasn't seeing in my gameplay. one thing that is great about yours is that when the cpu has the ball they really feel like a threat. too many times in my gameplay the cpu is too easy to steal the ball from. that's why i never felt confident enough to release a gameplay because i didn't feel the cpu was enough of a challenge. in your gameplay though defending the cpu is much more tactical and i like that. of course it's faster too and i'd like to find a compromise. but that is one of the keys getting cpu teams to really know how to keep possession alive. you seem to do that and it's very impressive. also i like how regular passes get off the ground. like when you pass you kinda kick it up in the air a bit and the pass doesn't stay on the ground. that's pretty good.
i noticed you had :
MOVE_FACING_BALL_SPEED_MAX = -1.25 //75
DRIBBLE_SPEED_PENALTY = -0.5
very interesting. You had MOVE_FACING_BALL_SPEED_MAX at 75 before?? Lol. i kept that at 0.0 and dribble speed penalty i had at 1.5. i couldn't decide if negative values really made a difference i guess i'll have to mess around with those values.
but yeah just some thoughts Iron_dog. i think you're gameplay is great. just great. it's nice to see a gameplay where the cpu buildup is really hard to defend. i just hope we can try to develop some conclusions to some of these params. have a good weekend and happy gaming!!!

yes without a doubt. i saw this they jostle realistically and appropriately, like on a lob ball in the air fighting for position. they don't glitch out and u can hold a position without feeling locked in. one time i crossed it to a guy just around the edge of the box, but he had to run to the ball and there was already a cpu player there and the cpu player got it because he had position. it didn't just automatically go to my guy i like that. i like cpu winning lobs because they had the better position, that's realistic. sometimes you can head it over the cpu player but it depends on the angle of the lob.
yeah this is a real challenge, showing what you can do with ai.ini. i mean it's almost like i'm playing an entirely new game just by switching around a few params. in your gameplay, maybe because of dribble speed or move facing ball speed but really it is very hard to develop scoring chances. i got some shots but i really had to make quick passes. i played 10 minutes i was Qatar against Argentina and Argentina (the CPU) has 59% possession and me only 41%. that's pretty realistic, even though argentina has no shots yet and i have 6 (5 on goal). but they really weren't great scoring chances. i was running near the edge of the box towards the goal and really never thought i was going to score, i saw the argentina keeper charge out he must be aggressive. but he charged out on a 1 on 1 so i didn't have another guy to get the rebound.
messi reversed directions on oncoming tackles and a few cpu players ran backwards and passed it around for a while. in your gameplay it's very hard to have time to wind up for a shot, the cpu does not let you get much space to take shots. this should lead to lower shot totals. there's times where i had the ball dribbling into the cpu box area and i thought it was best to actually dribble backwards and pass back because i didn't want to turn it over. that shows that you can't just dribble into the box untouched. maybe because of the speed of defenders hard to tell.
