Oh, for the record: It was quite amusing to see D. Lugano being asked to settle down by EdCarlos today after that high-cleat slide on Bautista...

I do like your posting style man, at least you try to give a base to what you say...

...my only suggestion is to put a banner on your sig: 'best viewed in 1600x1280 resolution' (6)

um.......... lol

But wait, I have you here................I've said 100,000,232,545,463 X that Lugano is actually "Montero #2" (who I had said is a huge exception to the rule)

Go to my past posts in the spanish forums (and if I ever talked about him in the English ones) and you'll see that I always mentioned Lugano as being "So "F'N" dirty........" but also "How it;s worth it cause he's so damn good and pasionate" (natural winner)

Im probably his biggest fan ever. I loved how he played vs. Chivas today (I was going nuts, as were even the mexican commentators)

So I kinda dodged a bullet there :p lol

(But good one catching me on that (Y)

Facts baby .... (H) :rockman: lmao

PS- oh and to Mauricio, Im proud of how we play cause (Like I said before) we're one of the few that takes the fouls as much as we give (IE: We dont go around going "We're so badass" and then cry after a foul.) JEsus, how can you be not proud of seeing Diego Lugano rip apart the forwards (in that "Fu*k you and your entire family" kind of way) that he always does when he plays.............It's amazing. (Just the fighting spirit is what outstands me.......he does get carried away, but it's almost a trance he goes into <you see like 8 veins pop from his head>)

And don't worry, the second you get that amazing playmaker, you'll really pick up like Colombia did in the mid 90s with Valderrama.

lol I knew someone was gonna mention that, but as long as I wasn't proud of Zidane for doing that, my point stands. :jambo:

just pointing the irony ; but i totally agree with you; football i starting to get more and more violent; the only way to solve this is for fifa to give more severe sanctions imo; fifa have given a bad example of this by giving very pitty sanctions to both zidane and materazzi;

on the other issue i totally disagre that people label uruguay as a dirty team; its just their style of play ; something we call here in mexico " les gusta meter mas la pata" ; argentina and italy have almost the same style imo; i wouldnt call it dirty playing ; i would call it a more phisical style of playing; thought this style of playing isnt working anymore neither to the national ot the local clubs; the "garra" isnt the answer anymore imo; i think they need a coach that has other ideas; (hint: the uruguayan youth team in Malaysia 97 YWC was a team to reckon; now their was a great uruguayan team with a diferent style).

how can you say that the "Garra" doesnt work when italy JUST won the World Cup, and Argentina was top 3-4 teams of the cup and could have also won it hadnt it been for bad luck.

But if you think Uruguay is great without the "garra", then you'll be glad to hear that our coach is Tabarez (he all but changed our style of play to a "European, clean cut" one in the 1990 world cup).

Garra is what seperats 2 teams when they are similar (or elevates a worst one above a superior one) <IE: Reason we beat Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, and tied Brazil cause in the last qualifyers we were just terrible>

Garra got us the 3rd place at the Copa America, and actually got a 6/11 injured team on the field to the PKs vs. Australia (We should have lost that 4-0 easily if it wasnt for Garra).

Garra is ugly play (at times), sure.........but it works.

ok i think i mislead my words i didnt mean to say garra; i got confused my words(cause garra for me is playing with heart; so i dont think garra and playing phisical is the same; sorry if i mislead)); just meant to say that maybe that phisical style ( or some would say "dirty") of playing isnt maybe the answer for them in specific "anymore"; cause you cant compare with italy wining a world cup with what iam saying; cuase is diferent circumstances; just to point the ovbious is that comparing italy,argentina with uruguay is that the first have "actually" way more better individualitys; a way more better domestic leagues and better coaches for that matter( cause i do think having a real good coach is essential); and maybe that phisical style does work for italy and argetina cause they have more to offer and not so much uruguay anymore;

just to bakcup my point a little bit; i say what i sayed before with NO harm intented cause i dont wanna start a fire again; when was the last time Uruguay won something important; either the national or clubs; i do understand you are proud of uruguays history; believe me we all get it; i would give anything if mexico had the half of uruguays history;but thats not the point is it?; so with that; are you seriously telling you are confort with what uruguayan football has done or manage themselves in the last decade ; are you seriously telling me that getting a 3rd place in a copa america; winning some qualifying games for the WC base on garra which they didnt qualyfied if i may ad, conforts you( given all the history you talk about); cuase if was mexicos case i would trade the garra that wins a second place for the garra they made them world champions.

its like i feel when i see mexico football when they cant seem to take that final step to be an elite; they have been close to winning copas america; they been close to wining copas libertadores; they been close to being in semifinals in WC; and i could be a conformist ( like the stupid press in mexico) and say iam proud they did all this things cuase even so they lose they played with heart ("garra" yeah right!) ; but iam not cause second place dont mean anything cuase they havent win anything ; second place doesnt go on the hall of fame.; i would trade every freaking second place mexico has won ; even so the conferations cup and the under17 youth wold cup; all the concacaf cups; sHiitt! i would trade all the freaking pichichis hugo sanchez have won lol :) ; for one senior World Cup; :jambo:

lol, I'd trade all the 2nd places too.

But on Italy and Argentina, can you really compare 84.5 million (together) vs. 3 million? (I think we barely reach 3 already).

And by "Garra", I was also talking about "heart/soul/cojones". Uruguay hasnt played the "stereotypical way" (all out dirty) since 1986. And after that we played 1 game like that (the 1-0 win vs. Argentina where, jesus christ, we spilled our guts just to win that game <had to be seen to believe>).

Sure, we have more yellows in the stats for the last 3 Qualifyers, but they are really from fouls like: Arguing with Ref, shirt pulling, etc <not the "Cleet up" at 40 KM per hour...like in the 70s/80s)

And no, of course Im not happy with what we did in the last decade (But it's still comforting to know that our worst decade was better than 95% of the Americas <north and south>'s best (Winning 1 Copa America, 2nd in another and 2nd in Youth world Cup <the real youth world cup :p , lol >
(While Colombia just celebrated their "greatest victory ever" <1 copa America> and are suposed to be a "top 5" in N. and S. Americas.)

But yeah, it's terrible. But the only reason we continue to exist is cause of Garra. (30 million and 54 million vs. 3 million (or 2.7, whatever).......+ ALOT more money doesnt give Uruguay much of a chance at the world stage, yet still there's hope, improvement and fight left that we can not only compete but actually win (which still blows me away, tied Italy 1-1 4 years ago, and beat Argentina in our last game <jesus, that game was a war. I highly recoment picking it up on Ebay, both teams wanted to rip eachother's throats off.). Garra is pretty important in all of that, so the chances of changing styles is very slim.

And Chivas could still make it next week........dont count them out because of history. These days it seems that playing Visitor is better than playing at home...(as wierd as it sounds :S )

gonna be a huge game, good luck (Y)
