Mancini ready to quit Italy

Coach Roberto Mancini has revealed that Inter will be his last Italian club after Sunday’s physical attack on his players.

Clearly upset after a group of so-called fans verbally abused members of his squad and injured Cristiano Zanetti on their return from Ascoli, the tactician says he’s had enough of the Italian game.

“This incident has speeded up my desire to go and work abroad,” the Coach stated on Monday afternoon.

“One thing is for certain, I won’t work in Italy again once my career at Inter comes to an end,” he pledged.

“I’m tired of these situations and I don’t really want to talk about it because these things have nothing to do with football, no matter if some people think they do.”

Mancio has had his most testing week at the club since he replaced Alberto Zaccheroni in the summer of 2004.

With the Scudetto already lost, he and his squad have been heavily criticised by their own fans following their Champions League reverse at Villarreal.

“There is still a desire for me to carry on because I love football, I love working on the pitch with players,” he continued.

“I don’t do this job for money as some people have claimed in the past. It’s the passion which keeps me going.

“However, Italy is a country where you can’t win and enjoy a victory because if you lose then you are forced to not only think about the defeat, but other things too.”

Mancini, who spent a brief spell in England with Leicester City as a player, took up coaching with Fiorentina before moving to Lazio.
===============================================

As much as I dislike Mancini, it really is sad that these attacks on players is the reason why he would want to quit and leave Italy altogether. That just isn't right. I wouldn't want to be an Inter fan in Italy at the moment. Those thugs disgraced the whole Inter name.

nothing much to say. Good luck for Mancini in the future. I thank you for his accomplishments at Inter winning Coppa Italia & Italian Super Cup.

As much as I hate those furious Inter fans towards Inter players are unacceptable. These will go on & on if things are not right at Inter. It's just pathetic. Losing to Villarreal is only a game.

I don't expect too much from Inter now. Win the game, passion is glory.

Now Inter are taking Trabelsi. Passed a medical yesterday says the italian media. After Maicon, now Trabelsi.
Javier leaving?
He's been your best player for all those years.

We will most likely loan one of them out for next year. I can see Zanetti playing at least another year.

Owner Moratti prepared to sell Inter Milan

MILAN, April 13 (Reuters) - Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti says he is prepared to sell the Serie A club if the right buyer comes forward.

Moratti, who took control in 1995, has been frustrated by Inter's lack of success in recent years and the failure to win the Italian league title, last claimed by the club 17 years ago.

'If there is someone who can do better than I have and has the desire to commit themselves why should I be opposed?', said Moratti in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport daily published on Thursday.

'I am trying to be pragmatic. As I didn't take over Inter with the intention of being in charge eternally it is right that I should contemplate the possibility of selling the club.'

Moratti stood down as club president in January 2004, handing over to Giacinto Facchetti.

'I bought Inter for reasons of passion and I have handled all these years with the desire to sell the club after winning a lot of trophies,' said Moratti.

'Unfortunately the team has faded in the face of the big challenges. I need to take that into account and have the duty to do so.'

During his 11 years in charge, Inter have picked up only two trophies, the 1998 UEFA Cup and the 2005 Italian Cup.

Inter are third in Serie A and will play AS Roma in the final of this season's Italian Cup.

Having failed to mount a serious challenge to leaders Juventus in Serie A, Inter's European hopes were dashed by elimination from the Champions League after a quarter-final defeat by unfancied Spanish side Villarreal.

At the weekend, a group of protesting fans attacked players Javier Zanetti and Cristiano Zanetti at Malpensa airport after they returned from the league victory over Ascoli.

On Friday, Inter face AC Milan in the city derby at the San Siro stadium and the hardcore 'ultra' supporters groups have announced they will boycott the game, having handed tickets designated for their section back to the club.

Inter have spent an estimated $400 million on transfer fees under Moratti and the owner has had nine different coaches during his tenure, including incumbent Roberto Mancini.

He has sunk nearly half a billion into you guys in the last decade. Can you blame him for wanting to move on? Then again, youll probably get someone just as determined, and hopefully, with more sense when it comes to transfers

Okay it's been a week and the whole thing seems to be calming down. I think Moratti finally woke up and is about to do probably the best thing Inter has done in the last 15 years.

Lucarelli says ‘yes’ to Inter

Cristiano Lucarelli has today admitted that he would consider leaving hometown club Livorno for Inter.

The Italian international is being linked with a summer switch to the Nerazzurri and he’s ready to quit the Tuscan side, despite the affection he has for the team.

“I met [Inter owner] Massimo Moratti last summer and he asked me if I would be interested in becoming their fourth choice attacker,” Lucarelli told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I thanked him, but 10 months ago my link to Livorno was untouchable. If I was asked today, perhaps I would accept his offer.”

Lucarelli was expected to end his career at Livorno, where he has spent the last three seasons, after famously rejecting a multi-million pound deal at Torino.

But times have changed at the Stadio Armando Picchi, even if he insists his departure would benefit everyone involved.

“Over the last two seasons I thought we could compete for a place in the UEFA Cup, but I’ve just picked up disappointments,” he declared.

“But if I do leave here then I wouldn’t be running away from the club, that’s because my sale would bring funds to the team.”

Lucarelli went on to suggest that his proposed capture by Inter would be a positive step by the club, who have few Italian nationals in their ranks.

“It’s hard to find anything wrong with Inter,” he added. “Perhaps there are too many foreigners there which makes it tough to create a group spirit because of the language barrier.”

The Nerazzurri, who have suffered another disappointing campaign, are believed to be pondering a ‘Made in Italy’ transfer policy this summer.

Let's see so far we have been linked to Luca Toni, Lucarelli, and two coaches that have been brought up to replace Mancio are Prandelli and Capello (lol).

Anyways, having this new "Made in Italy" policy can only help our team.

hey everybody,
I'm new to posting on the forums but I have been following the discussion here on and off for a couple years. Right now it sort of sucks to be a inter fan, but the off season looks like its sure to bring some changes (hopefully for the best)
