That was a good game.

Well played USA.
Even though that was a dive on the penalty, they still had a solid game on the second half.

Hugo, and Mexico still have a long way to go.
Nery and Guardado just guaranteed their place in the NT.
I still think our two best promises is not them though, but Dos Santos and Vela from the U-20, we'll see how they do in the World Cup.

This was definitely the last game for Borguetti, I don't see him starting anymore, and problably also the last game for Bravo, who has done absolutely nothing so far.

This game was great for both teams, watch out Brasil and Argentina. Seriously.

The lineups are messed up because we will be going to the Copa America as well and you cant have all these players killing themselves for 2 tournaments. Also some of them are in MLS action and have to go back to playing.

What a match that was. USA is getting better and better. BEST team in North America for sure. Beasley was a beast, shame about his finishing though. What a freakin goal to win the tournament though. That really was a BOLT FROM THE BLUE....

Im red, white, blue and also yellow, blue, red...4 life

Just looked through his Wikipedia page, and you guys dodged a bullet with Castillo. Looks like he was close to playing for Greece!

Nope, that was just his dad, and the Greek media trying to "buy" him for Greece.

He always said he wanted to wear the green shirt.

this is some utter BS, mexico didnt deserve to loose this game , but hey this is football not boxing, iam still doubting that penalty, and that goal by Feilhaber i say wow, and not just the goal, what a ******* wonderful player indeed, he should be playing in some major europe club seriously, anyways congrats on the win mates, it has come natural by now for us loosing to the yanks lol.

The penalty was totally legit. Ching has no history of diving, nor was there any reason for him to in that situation. He had a point blank shot if he wasn't hacked down in the box. You should be mad that Bautista missed the sitter at the end. Neither team deserved to lose that one, but the ref was good. And come on, Ching and Beasley should have made it 4-1.

Beasley was one of the worst players on the pitch mate. He had nothing going for him. And i am not even talking about the crossbar he hit. He seemed not interested in the game at all.

Twellman played ok as a sub i don't understand why you guys don't like him.

And that save from Howard was clutch.

Great game today by Mexico. I was definitely impressed by you guys, especially Guardado and Castillo. It just seemed the bounces went our way today (except for the two worst finishes in the history of mankind by Beasley and Ching).

Ching did a lot better than I thought, Beasley has improved quite a bit with Man City, Gooch is Gooch, and I would definitely like to see more of Simek. Congrats to Donovan for tying Wynalda.

Where the hell is Eddie Johnson? Honestly. Why is Deuce playing ahead of him at striker? Why is Twellman considered better? He certainly has never proved it in MLS where Johnson reigns supreme.

Beasley has improved??? WHAT? He was pathetic today. I don't think he had two good passes the whole match and his finishing was some of the worst I've ever seen. Donovan should of just kept that one to himself and pass Wynalda right there but it shows that's not the type of player he is.

I agree with your Eddie Johnson comment. Arena had a thing with him now it looks like Bob doesn't like him either playing the likes of Ching and Twellman (who btw has proven himself time and time again in the MLS, he's been top scorer like 3 times I think, Eddie Johnson is just now having his first really good season in the MLS) before him. Depsey was horrible today as well, let's not forget that pathetic miss on that 4-2 break for the US.

The team didn't play that well today but.....

USA USA USA!!!

(H)(Y)!!

8-0-1 vs. Mexico this decade :p, still best in CONCACAF?

You're kidding right? It was an entertaining match but I don't think either nation is quite up there with Brazil or Argentina yet.

yeah but we have already beated argentina in a copa america and we have beated brazil many times, one thing has nothing to do with the other, i agree neither nation is up their with brazil and argentina man to man, but theirs some truth that neither argentina and brazil are the same scary to reckon teams like in the past, so no i dont think he was kidding.

I just thought the wording was a bit over the top. I'm sure Brazil and Argentina aren't shaking in their shorts thinking of USA and Mexico or any team for that matter since you should never go into any match with fear as a dominating emotion. The way football is today there are no such thing as gimmies though so I see his point.

just wondering if anybody who watched the u.s. celebration did you hear

anything about Guardado fainting and been transported to a hospital??

fainting? i thought it was just the injury he got earlier when he knocked heads with spector going about 100 mph. he continued on and played but collapsed after the match was over. while they were getting the stage ready a cart came and doctors put a brace around his neck and drove him off the field. i hope he's alright, it was amazing that he continued after that knock of heads.

Great game by the US. We did what we could never do under Arena - come back from a goal down and win an important game. Under Arena, as soon as we went down a goal, the game was practically over. We always played much too conservatively when trailing. Different story under Bradley - he's a coach who is willing to take risks. He asked the players to push forward right from the start of the second half. It could have backfired, but it didn't. Bringing on Clark for Mastroeni was pure genius. It was a very gutsy move from Bradley: take out a guy who is a veteran, sometimes captain, one of the leaders on this team, a guy who has played in many US-Mexico games; bring in a young, inexperienced player and put him in the middle of the field. The move paid huge dividents. Clark was a monster in the second half. He and Feilhaber were a formidable pair. I don't think I've seen that good of a central midfield pairing for the US since Reyna-O'Brien in World Cup 2002.

Ratings:

Howard - 8 (monumental point-blank save)

Bocanegra - 8 (he was everywhere)
Onyewu - 5 (looked slow at times, was unneccessarily physical and that could have cost us)
Bornstein - 6 (finally got involved in the offense a little bit)
Spector - 6 (did well defensively but had his hands full)

Mastroeni - 5 (not one of his best performances)
Feilhaber - 8 (mediocre first half, sensational second half)
Donovan - 7 (if his teammates could finish, he would have had at least two assits today)
Beasley - 6 (alternated between pretty good and dreadful throughout the game)

Dempsey - 5 (worst game he's had in awhile)
Ching - 7 (won penalty, held up the ball well)

Clark - 8 (the catalyst that turned the game on its head in the second half)
Twellman - 6 (energetic)
Simek - 6 (solid)

Great game, end to end, some great soccer from both teams.

Decent player, at 22 maybe a bit too old to be considered a prospect. He's up for sale for 250k, he will probably end up at some 2. Bundesliga club.

After watching him in this tournament, I think he can do better than the 2.Bundesliga. If he goes there, it should be to a club that has serious 1.Bundesliga aspirations, so he can help to get them promoted (ala Steve Cherundolo and Hannover).

Feilhaber's goal was absolutely amazing. I was there and let me tell you I was close as hell to and got to see it in all of its glory. On a funny note, both me and my dad were in Mexico jersey with the flags and we were probably the only Mexicans to clap when they announced each player in the US national team. I thought I was gonna get beer thrown at me. But really congrats to the US b/c they played a great 2nd half. oh and it's not so bad when the US was attacking because I got to see Donovan and Beasley real close. That was tight.

He got down the line at will and got some great crosses in, Ching and Dempsey just couldn't get to them. He is by far the most dynamic player I have ever seen in a US jersey, and he is very capable of holding down the left flank. I thought Beasley did everything you ask him to do today (except scoring the goal) although he maybe could have gotten down that flank a few more times.

I never said anything about beating argentina or brazil.

What I meant was, as the Brazilian coach said it himself, the USA and Mexico have a considerable advantage over all the other Copa America participants. They will get to their respective games with noticible better rhythm, and teamwork.

They may not win, but atleast I can see them giving some really good matches. Specially us, since now Hugo has everything on the line. A bad performance here, and he is gone.

Beasley has a long history of missing chances, it's just not his game. However, I agree he is a very dynamic player and is a DEFINATE starter every game on the flank.

I hope the people who thought Ching dove is a very small minority, because it was clearly a penalty. You gotta love how the game has changed so much to the point where people can't remember what a legitimate penalty looks like. What's ironic is Mexicans calling it a dive. Mexicans are up there with the Italians and Portuguese as the most disgusting divers on the planet. You guys have training camps in which players are taught that ANY contact, no matter how minimal, you jump up into the air and throw your body into the ground as hard as you can with some rolls for good measure. Mexico did not "dive" much in the game, in terms of flopping over no contact (although Guardado is sealing his La Liga move with his theatrics), but Mexico did make every small foul look like Rivaldo vs Turkey 2002. Could one of you loyal Mexican fans explain to me why if someone steps on your foot, the reaction is to jump up off both feet into the air and grab your knee?
