Figo returns to the portuguese NT

Figo accepted Scolari's pre-call for the game Portugal-Slovakia in June.

Finally my wishes became reality. As much as i like Costinha and Pauleta, i don´t think that they have the same influence as Figo who is our charismatic leader. His experience will be much needed for our crucial ties against Slovakia at home and Russia away. Welcome back Luis.

Well, congrats to the Portuguese NT and all their fans. Class player...

I just hope Zidane can come back to, just one last time in the WC... :(

As much as I like Figo I found this ridiculous, if he's really coming back what was the point of retiring after EURO? Honestly i don't understand this whole thing and the fact that Scolari and the Portuguese Federation always claiming his return, like we use to say "o que está feito está feito"... well if he's returning I wish he can play at his best level otherwise this will be useless...

Circunstancies change. When he "retired" it was after a big disappointment and a long season, so he was probably "drained" mentally and physically. With the playing time he is having in Real Madrid and the fact that our Nt without any doubt needs him for these crucial games, i think it´s perfectly understandable that he came back. Anyways, i tend to disagree with the negativity of your post because it´s more than obvious that we need him and he proved this year in Real Madrid that he can still be an asset for our Nt. I also find it hard to believe that you can think that he is coming here to be useless and bring nothing to our team. He is an example of professionalism and was without any doubt the most influencial figure of our Nt in the last decade. I want him back and i appreciate his effort to come and help us again. He gives us much more guarantees than Simão or Luis Boa Morte who are rather sluggish and don´t play as in club level in our "selecção".

I dunno what to think really..I never thought Figo had that motivation he should have to play for the NT, at least unoficially or in qualifiers.
I mean that he is an arrogant b'tch, but still, a brilliant player.

If he comes back with his head clean, commiting at 100%, he's more than welcome.
Otherwise... wish he'd never came back :ewan:

Show me the money Figo (H)!!!

a fit and commited figo is still the best portugese player by far if you ask me.If he isn't fit and commited he's still better than simao...so he's welcome either way ;)

A 34 year old Figo vs. a 34 year old Zidane ... hooray.

Anyway, he's still a decent player and can help but no carry the team on his shoulders like he did in the past.

Who's supposed to score goals? Pauleta or Nuno Gomes?

he doesn't have to...we have 4 and a half other world class players besides figo...(deco,ronaldo,ferreira,carvalho and maniche ;))...and figo is far more than "decent" :hump:
