Having received many excellent mail containing updates for your single favourite teams I've planned to release a small fix/update that will add all these modifications chaning only the fifa.db files. Please keep updating me with these details and with "strange" things you find in new competitions added so I can re-check and fix.

Fix 0.11b (will require of course 0.11 version) scheduled to 18th February.

Gold Cup bug

Hi!

Is a bug in Gold Cup. Everytime I try to play, with any team, the game crashes and back to desktop.

But I know how to solve it. I download Tournament Master 06 and put games always in Wed, 60% Sat and always in Sun.

Now works fine!

I think that bug in Confederations Bug reported by ohter guy can be solved doin' something like that.

Sorry for my bad english and thanks for the best patch I ever see for FIFA, since 1997 when I played a FIFA game for the first time.

PS.: OckHAM, I send you a e-mail to help you with brazilian league, but you don't reply me.
Anyway, I'm happy to see that FifaBrasil is helpin' with Brazilian League and not FifaManiaBrasil (they suck a lot).

Ok seems like some tournaments have not enough days to play with. No problem, this is easy to fix and will be included in fix scheduled for next week; please keep segnalating me problems and glitches.

The team of fifabrasil is absolutely excellent for the work they are doing and you can expect great additions in the future from the brasilian side of CEP.

thanks ockham. also is there a way of unlocking the career teams quickly so i can start a new career in 0.11 with arsenal or do i have to earn the points for the fan shop again?

Go to team Management put all the worst players in the squad in your starting line up and then go to career mode and your team won't be a five star team. Then change your team back to normal and play.

Hey Ockham I'm back after severely testing the fifa.fat crash and it's not looking good, I have 3 different installed Fifa directories (one with the clean install without any patch, one with stuff I test and the one I use to play, I rename each to the correct name when needed), I tested the clean installed one, installed just CEP 0.11 and then some duplicate CEP files in new zdatas until I broke the 325kb for the fifa.fat again and bam! crash again, I remove a few files till fifa.fat is 324kb and everything works again, scary stuff I say.

Also I found some teams that have unused kits activated inside the table_teamkits inside fifa.db, namely the keeper (2) and third kit (3) appear inside the table but the graphical files are not inside the zdatas, so when I play said teams, the keeper kits appear red and green with the new texture error, one of these clubs is Cobreloa. Play a game with them and you will see what I mean when looking at the keeper, I spotted some more teams inside the db that I suspect having the same problem, I'll try to check them out when I have time

Anyway duplicating files is not a good way to test: surely the game is not so able to manage duplicate various files. Do you have installed kits addon too?

No I don't have the kits addon installed, I duplicated some of the files of your new zdata_31.big inside a new created zdata_34.big to get the fifa.fat bigger until the crash, I don't think it is a graphical problem as the game won't even load, it crashes with fifa06.exe error as soon as you try to launch it, as if it couldn't load the fifa.fat at all.

This I did on a clean Fifa install.

I first noticed the crash in this configuration :

zdatas 1 to 30 : original fifa datas with most kits, flags, adboards changed to double textures with kit raptor, utilities working

zdatas 31 to 33 : new zdatas created by me containing faces, heads and hair textures of about 200 players that hadn't one ingame

zdatas 34 to 36 : CEP 0.11

zdata 37 : Newly created and added keeper and third kits for teams that didn't have one ingame, about 120

zdata 59, 60, 61 : ECP snow patch zdatas

zdata 76 : fifaccitiu's turf patch zdata

all these files took the fifa.fat to 329kb, crash

after I removed the last four fifa.fat size shrinked to 325k but still crashing
after I removed my zdata37 it shrinked to 322k and it worked.

Then I tried on a clean installation like I described before by just adding the CEP and slowly increasing the fifa.fat file by the method described before, it worked until it reached 325k.

I really hope it's just something wrong on my part as this would really be a bummer for the adding of more graphics in the future. I'll keep looking for a solution, in fact I already found a workaround, but one that has many inconveniences, including making the game more choppy to play.

Mm, very different installations we have; I'm sorry to say you that what I suggest is of course to use CEP over a clean installation, but I suppose that you are not interested in this advice; this is anyway a problem I think related to a very "dense" installation of Fifa, who knows which of the multiple big files you have give problems.

Did you read the part where I wrote that I tried this over a clean install also? It crashes also when the fifa.fat reaches 325kb with a cleanly fresh installed game with just CEP patched over it, now what I want to know is does it happen with everyone when their fifa.fat reaches that size, and then I can stop chasing ghosts or is it just happening with my game, and in that case I can keep looking for a solution.

BTW, the workaround I found is to put the new .fsh files that make the fifa.fat grow too big in the Fifa06 root directory, then the game loads them anyway without crashing, but the more you add there, the slower and choppy gameplay gets, as if it has to go "read" the graphics and pauses play for a second or so when it does that.

Yes, I was already aware of the maximum limit of 511 files per zdata, I try even to not exceed 500 in mine so the crash is not caused by this, as I said, it is the fifa.fat, that once it reaches a certain size simply refuses to be loaded by the Fifa06.exe or so it seems. This is especialy bad news as not only CEP will grow bigger, but also new stadiums will appear and those are large files!

Fifaccitiu is a great hard-core coder for fifa06.exe, maybe he will be able to find a solution. In the meanwhile, please, let's concentrate this thread on CEP details and improvements

Hello OckHAM,
I seem to be running into a snag in manager mode after the second game. After I start my manager mode, then play my first game on the champions league, then the first of the FA league as Manchester United, the game alwasy crashes to desktop at 6% while simulating the rest of the games up to my next game (after the screen showing form and such after a match). I have tried to solve this problem many ways, including a fresh install and deleting various files. Each had no effect. Any tips or suggestions i could try?

PS. I have a fairly high end processor, the AMD Athlon 4000+ 64 Dual Core processor. I also have 3 Gigs of ram and a PCI-Express video card, so I'm wondering if this could be attributed to something else? Or does fifa not utilize dual core (and if thats the case, is there a fix for that)?

I am sad to report that I am still having the crash to desktop problem. Still after the second game of the year, right before the second leg of champions league round 2. Anything else I can try?

You can try modifying it by yourself increasing the number of match days during week of English Premier League, Mexican Interliga and Gold Cup.

Which team are you using? I'll take a look. Are you sure your properly installed the fix?

Seems like the main problem is related to the number of matches the teams have to play in the season now: with national league, national cup (in England case two national cups!), preliminary stages for UEFA Cup and Champions League, is possible that the CPU it's not able to schedule the right number of matches: please keep reporting this sort of problem with matches scheduling: include the team you are using, and the moment of crash. The matches scheduling problem IS NOT a great problem: just needs a tweak with tournament master, so if the problems encountered are of this sort we can be very optimistic about CEP future .
