FC Porto Thread [2007/08]

Boavista-Porto was tonight, we won 3-0 
finally I watched Mariano in action and oh man the dude seems to be very good. he played LW and did great, a lot of speed and strength, good individual technique plus great crossing and vision.
out of the other new players I just didn't like like Edgar much, everyone else was good especially Lima...kid's like cotton
the scorers were Postiga (following an awesome cross by Mariano down the flank) and, amazingly, Tarik got 2
he really did have a very good game and the goals were both beauties.
another "good" headache for Jesualdo...
I could name every player that did well tonight but I'd be here all night, our performance was almost perfect tonight and we are still missing a few key players...again I say it, future looking extremely bright :sun:

new developments in the last couple of days, with Fernando being loaned to E. Amadora, plus Jorginho is not in Jesualdo's plans (

also, Maurico Isla from Universidad Catolica claims to be very close to signing for us. if it happens, he'll be loaned out for 5 months before he joins our squad.

yeah the match ended 0-0 and was pretty boring, only a couple of goal chances for each side but that was about it unfortunately.
Feyenoord now must beat Liverpool in order to help Porto clinch the cup , the chinese shouldn't pose much of a threat for us I guess.

Congratulations FC Porto fans
didn't get to watch the full match but from the highlights I reckon we were way better than Shenhua so 3-0 is a normal result.
Tarik scored again (
) and Leandro Lima grabbed the other 2 our next match will be for the Portuguese Supercup on the 11th against Sporting and most players seem to be reaching good form, hopefully when that match comes we'll be up for it

I don't know... I mean, I was overwhelmed by the Boa-game where we played perfect. But this tournament was a bit of a letdown: the cautious, almost lazy game vs Feyenoord and the game vs Shenhua where we underestimated the Chinese and played accordingly (must say Meireles had a brilliant game). Hope we can screw our performance up a notch when it matters next weekend.
I know what you mean Kris (), I was also very pleased with the Boavista match but one has to remember they were sh't which made our task easier....in Rotterdam it was really noticeable how tired the players were which took a lot from our game, and it's true that the team was a few gears down of what it should be.
against Sporting we will be more audacious I reckon, it's our first official of the season and the players will eat the grass...
