hey, has anyone managed to do a backheel or chip shot yet.

I did, Im using PS2 controller and it works great with this game, both sticks work (unlike Fifa 2004 and Euro 2004).
Backheel is easy, chip shot is more complex.

Hahahah...remember when you were able to stand in front of a keeper when he kicks the ball and block the shot for an easy goal.....well apparently you can still do it....

Viduka did something like that against Lehmann last year so it seems pretty realistic to me. ;)

Also, I hear PES fans at one moment calling the FIFA players "heavy", then others are calling them too "light". Make up your mind.

Personally I feel it's a great game. It has it's faults still. But just because it isn't exactly like PES some people think it's crap. It's good that they are two different games to choose from.

Well that's just stupid because one of the attributes for players' is 'weight' I'm sure of this. It will affect the players' ability on the pitch like how high he can jump, and how 'free' they are with the ball at moving around and that.

PES players' = no matter what will hate FIFA.

It just gets better and better. I'm scoring all sorts of goals and so is the CPU. Just when I thought they don't take shots from outside the box Crespo scored a screamer from way out.:rockman:

I played a couple of games and it's not that bad. I had completely given up hope on FIFA after last year's version and PES being as solid as it is, but I managed to play some football with the demo, too, although it feels a little pinballish. However, you can never tell too much about a game by playing it only a little, if this is to be a successful game there must be no annoying flaws and enough difficulty.

I think I'm buying this game. For me the AI attack in 2004 was all the same low shots to the corner. It got predictable and easy to defend really fast.

When your on the ball, feels good, can dribble, can turn and fool defender, much much better and enjoyable that you dont loose the ball at every turn and every few seconds. Defending however is ****e. Defenders have the turning circle of Noahs ark loaded with every living being ever to have existed, and it takes too long from when you have switched to them to get a response, and sometimes they still have a mind of their own even when you have the control icon on them. Full backs, why do they bother putting them in if they wont let them do their job. And the defending postitions, its always from the edge of the box, way too deep. Why cant the developers see that the defensive side is just as important. Yankees!

First of all and to make it clear, i´m not a PES fanboy, i´m not a Fifa fanboy, i´m a football fanboy!

Now that i´ve made it clear i can say that i´ve played every single fifa game from the very start and every single Pes and WE game and i can say that i love the gameplay and diversity of the PES/WE series, way above Fifa series and anyone who doesn´t agree just proves one of two things, first, never played PES/WE or is a hardcore fifa fanboy.
Since Fifa 2003 i couldn´t play more than 2 or 3 days of the game, to much script, bugs, unrealistic and limited shooting, passing, crossing and driblling.

Yesterday i downloaded the fifa 2005 demo and guess what, it´s a very good game!! Still beyond PES/WE gameplay? Sure it is, but this time the gap was reduced big time, if Fifa doesn´t screw it up next year i believe that they will eventually catch the amazing PES/WE gameplay and after that... well all of us will gain from that!

BTW, I´m playing WE8 and i can tell you all that it´s also an amazing and beautifull game, so i´m very happy this year!!

I haven't played the demo, so can someone who has please answer me this? It's something that's bugging me..

The shooting system then. Is it identical to Fifa 2004's? In other words, is there no option to change the power-up speed of the shooting bar itself, and regardless of the power you input or where you are shooting from, does the ball always fly towards the goal in a context sensitive manner at a ridiculous speed?

I haven´t played the demo to much but for what i could see it´s a little diferent this time, you can still shoot at ridiculous speeds if you are running, but you can also shoot low by taping the shoot button and even you can curl a little bit if you are walking with the ball. There´s still those stupid shoots when the player is for instance facing the sideline and by magic turn only his foot 90º and shoots for goal (they still have a lot to learn with PES pyshics because for those kind of shoots you must rotate your body and not only your foot), but overall they improved shooting.

Believe me, this time they made a good game and finnaly they seem to be in the right direction.

Shooting this year is completely different.

It's still too easy to score and direct a shot.

Shooting should be much harder, especially for shots that are aimed for the top corners, shooting should be very very free, but VERY difficult to direct from far out, like VEEEEERY difficult and require lots of practice.

I don't know anymore, I think I've got to that point where nothing but gameplay matters, that's why I'm going to check out PES4 this time, because I know if gameplay is all I want, and if a true, very realistic football game is what I want to play, then why on this earth buy FIFA 2005 and NOT PES4? ;)

On the other hand if you want an all-round product, with a bit of everything then buy FIFA 2005, but for me that isn't enough, I want to feel emotion when I score a goal damnit!!! Who cares about first touch, that doesn't give you a goal if done succesfully, shooting gets you the goals and shooting is still crap!!!

I find it rewarding to pull off a good skill move and break the defence, but as SOON as I hit that shoot button it's just so flat and boring, it doesn't feel like there's much variation, but rather scripted play where if you get the power right, it's a sure fire goal! :nape:

Thanks for the info guys.:)

It's basically down to EA's mentaliy then. They'd rather secure further licenses than focus on anything as trivial as the shooting.

The thing that gets me is that they're making a flawed game....but they know this full well. They're deliberately witholding features that would be relatively simple to employ, so that they can buy themselves a cheap ticket to improvement next year.

Whilst I am a long serving Fifa fan, even I get down when I see this happening. To EA, it's all about the money in their pockets rather than customer satisfaction.:(

Still, I don't want to get too downbeat before I've even started. From what I've heard, there are plenty of positives knocking around in this game. And as long as the shooting system is at least a little different, that's better than nothing I suppose after last year's attempt.
