Community of Editors - A list of cooperative patchmakers

I see a growing trend within soccergaming to create a patch and either make it uneditable or refuse anyone to update it or reuse it. While many patchmakers have always been cooperative with others this problem of always having to ask permission to use a patch or getting attacked for not crediting the author perfectly is one we can begin to deal with.

Here's what I'de like to do. Post below if you agree with the statement posted below. You may want to quote it incase it is revised at any point.

"I agree to allow any soccergaming user to use any of my patches for whatever purpose, at any time, without asking permission, in the spirit of cooperation and with the desire for a more realistic and complete FIFA gaming experience, asking only that my contribution be credited by any who use my patch".

Please post that you agree, a little about what you type of patches or assets you make and also post any qualifications you may have to the statement above.

Again, the reason for this is to eliminate the need for people to have to ask for permission, wait for a response, or anything like that. Also, this will give us a chance to see who we can collaborate with. I personally don't understand the point behind creating a patch and not sharing it with people. This is my way of fighting it. I think others have had this kind of an idea before but rather than being a compilation patch, we'll just have an understood common agreement to help each other out. A comforting thought in a sometimes agressive and harsh community.

I agree, I make national teams, and I do not support any patches released only as an exe that are not compatible with Creation Master. If you patch is compatible with Creation Master I certainly do give you my full permission.

I think a great idea that the community is that way, the truth I am new to these forums and I have played several users not answer any request or you simply refuse to support, I would like to speak the truth and say if we can support or not? I really do not make as much of patches but they are fanatic.

Of course I also have problems with an excuse my English, I'm from Mexico and if anyone knows ke Spanish because it would help me a lot

Just one thing i'd like to raise with this statement. For me, it's almost like a blank cheque. I think it would be best to encourage a more pro-active approach on the part of secondary patchmakers. If not necessarily to ask for permission, they should still make the effort to at least notify original authors, regardless of whether or not the author responds.

Yeah it's a good idea to tell them they are planning to use your patch. "Hey, I'm making a Euro tourny Robbie... I'm gonna borrow some of your teams!" That kind of thing?

I think what it says is this:

BUT

I would like it if they would let me know what they are working on.

This way people know what is happening with their files.

Anybody who uses my boots without my express permission will be drawn and quartered. Possibly also tarred and feathered. However, I agree with the sentiments stated above.

Also, I do honestly think that authors have the right to have permission asked for from them; If they have an active role in the community, they will respond to requests to use their work.

If people want to have permission asked, they will state it. And equally, if they will be expecting permission requests, they will be around to respond to them.

I hope this thread will have a lot of success and a lot of editers will join this fantastic opportunity. However I still want that every editer that wants to use my creations ask me for it telling me what he wants to use of my works and how. I always answer to anyone and the most of the times I answer positively. But you have only to ASK me. I would be very angry to see my creations used without my express permission! This is not because I'm precious or the best: it's only that I want people to give me respect for the large amount of time I spend on creations.

Well said, Outsider. The FIFA community has to recognise the efforts of patchmakers who take the effort of making things in the first place.

That's why they are crediting you to show you respect and clear up any confusion about who created the patch or what role they played in it's creation.

While it's your choice what is done with your patches, I feel it is counterproductive to make people jump through hoops just to use a kit (for example) with credit given to the author.
