If it had anything to do with how we're handling ourselves financially as a club, the decision could have been made in a more appropriate time and manner.
He was still in dugout yesterday during the reserves match and was apparently told half-time about his position coming to an end.
I wonder how the likes of JT and SFL will take this, the club is really showing a lack of respect for a former legend and captain of the club, not to mention his contribution over the past 2 years.
Ivanovic's deal is up this summer, so is Kakuta's and Van Aanholt's. With the Ballack, Joe Cole situation last season this actually makes me fear our club's ability to extend the players/staffs contracts.

Butch asked for a very hefty pay rise if he was to sign a new contract. He refused to compromise with the club over the amount he demanded, and they told him he could leave. Bye Butch (once again), and thanks.

Pathetic showing by the team. Might as well let Arsenal and Man Utd overtake us if you put out a performance like that at home. At least Utd went out fighting 2-0 down, we went out with a whimper.
Sure Essien and Lamps, and both our CBs were missing, but surely we could play better than that. Ferreira was rubbish at CB, it also affected Ivanovic(who was lucky to stay on the field). Made Onuoha and Welbeck look like Messi and Ronaldo.
And I must congratulate the club on the timing of the whole Wilkins drama. Very convenient.

Bloody hopeless that was. I was shocked by the scoreline but not surprised by the performance.
Didn't we all know deep down we were gonna blow this game? Don't we always blow it when we get the chance to forge ahead in the table?
Sunderland played really well, but we got beaten by them the same way we got beat by City. They gave us no time on the ball, and they left two forwards upfield simply waiting for the inevitable counter attack, which our makeshift defence failed to deal with. If not for Cech the score could have been even worse for us.
Our play and buildup were slow, our passing was all over the place and once again we were forced off the ball too easily. It was all too casual for a team like Sunderland.
We missed JT for sure, and with Lamps, Alex and Essien out beforehand we looked very weak indeed.
Paulo is not a good CB, and I thought Carlo might at least have given Bruma a chance in this game.
Ramirez and Yuri are trying hard and doing OK, but there was no creativity from our midfield. Plenty of effort and hard work but predictable non the less.
We miss Lamps. Since he's been with Christine Blakely he has suffered with 3 injuries all centered around his genital area. A hernia, a groin strain and a pulled muscle.
I can only imagine what this hottie could be doing to our Frankie in the privacy of their bedroom, but whatever it is it has to stop.
Anyhow lads, still 2 points ahead and still at the top. Lets hope we stay there for the rest of the season.

In addition to losing both first choice CBs, its going to be a hard few weeks coming up. Alex delayed surgery just to play in the Birmingham game, Terry may be back sooner but I'm not sure rushing him is a good idea.
So unless we are to reinforce in January we better give Bruma a chance to prove himself, or we'll be stuck with Paulo/Drog as CB alongside Iva.

JT's piriformis syndrome is a difficult one. We should think years of shortening a muscle is going to take a while to lengthen.
With Riccy gone in the summer, we've only got 2 recognized CBs fully fit. Bane and Bruma. But I'm still a bit puzzled why not just use Bruma and see how the lad copes with it. Look how Blackburn pushed Phil Jones into the spotlight when we played them last season. Its got to start somewhere.
Bruma's confidence must be shattered knowing the club would rather play an injured player or a makeshift centreback instead of giving him a chance.
If Bane and/or Cech gets injured, we might as well kiss our title goodbye.
In addition to that, Drog hasn't been the same since he was diagnosed with Malaria, Essien still out for another match, Lamps is taking forever to come back into the team.

2 defenders injured, apart from Ivanovic there are no other adequate backups available. Bruma hasn't been used and I'm not sure if he will be used at all. Like I said, if Ivanovic/Cech gets injured after Alex has his surgery and Terry still recovering, we're screwed.
You would have a case if you thought we still had Carvalho, but worst comes to worst I think Carlo would have to put Drogba/Essien at CB rather than risk playing Ferreira in that position.
