maybe I didn't see much of Schmeichel greatness.

As you may know, most of the matches are either during early morning or midnight in Australia. I couldn't watch all matches especially UCL matches. From what I can remember from him, he was so inconsistent. He could save shots that nobody could save but he conceded some cheap goals as well.

But again, I watched 60 percent of United matches at that period.

It's a shame that we didn't sign Edwin earlier.

I think you watched Schmeichel when he was past his peak... He wasn't that good during his final years I remember that. You should have watched him during the early and mid 90s... He was a key figure for Man Utd.

And yeah I understand the time difference. I was lived in South East Asia for a while and I missed a lot of games because of that... UCL games at 3.45am. That sucks.

It's 6:45 am here (UCL Matches), just imagine my mood when United looses a match. :clapwap:

oh, I was just a rugby fan at the early 90s (I still am). But I thin Edwin joined United at the same age of Peter during late 90s.

Is that it lads?

Good win over Stoke today. Always a dogged side to play, but we dealt with them fine. The defence were great today. We defended all their set pieces, including Delap's long throws impeccably. Iva, Alex, JT and Paulo all put in a good shift. Paulo was great at left back and his forward runs were productive too, with plenty of crosses. That should be his spot until Ashley gets back.

Great goals by Lamps and JT to give us the victory, and the whole team performed well today.

So we have Aston Villa next in the semi final, and it will be played at Wembley on the 10 March.

Two English teams are already through.

Arsenal 6-2, and United 7-2 on aggregate.

C'mon Chelsea, demolish Inter and join the mix. Shame Liverpool can't join the party, though they still can win Euro League.

Didn't watch the whole match but what I saw was good from pretty much everyone. Hope Malou repeats his performance against Inter. Saw Turnbull make a good save, and I liked the fact that he didn't shy away from telling the defenders off. Figured he might shy away from saying anything.

Anyway, good win, let's rape Inter.

Just noticed something interesting this season, I think I mentioned it before. About the Drogba vs Rooney situation. Very tight race to the golden boot, but seems like no else(apart from us Chelsea fans) thinks Didier has a chance of winning it.
Fair enough, Rooney, being English and playing for Utd, has always been the media favourite.

Total:

Rooney 37/30 - 0.81gpg
Drogba 32/25 - 0.78gpg

Domestic appearances/goals

Rooney 31/25 - 0.81gpg
Drogba 27/22 - 0.81gp

I think Didier's having an incredible season with us, and I hope for his sake he at least gets some acknowledgement for it.

For (Chelsea)Player of the Year I think it's between him and Brana so far.
Brana has the edge for me because he's been a revelation this season and the fact that Drog has already won the thing before.

yeah, Drogba's on fire as well. It's very hard to distinguish him and Rooney at the moment. They score, score and score in every single match.

Well, the only way to distinguish them is the accolade so far. I mean, Rooney is known as the best player in the world atm and Drogba..... well, just typical Drogba.

Rooney improved this year ... Drogba plays great but his level is almost same.

I'm not saying Rooney is much better, but he's much more improved (at least in terms of goal scoring) this year.

And you know British Media, they hype England to win every World Cup and Murray to win all grand slams.

I don't know if you posted that after the Fulham game or not but after the Fulham game, Rooney's record is 38/32 (0.84) overall and 32/27 (0.84) domestic compared to 0.78 and 0.81 from Drogba. Not much difference really. They're really close.

And yeah, I also believe Drogba don't seem to get the credit he deserves. There's more hype around Rooney because he's English. Maybe its also due to the fact that Drogba is a proven goalscoring machine whereas Rooney is emerging as one. He never used to be that prolific before.

Didn't watch the Fulham game, I only just realized he scored twice after a few minutes of typing that out. :p

Nevertheless, its still pretty tight. :)

I think the reason why Rooney gets so much more recognition other then being one of Englands golden children is the same reason why Ronaldo had to battle for his on the European stage. There not likeable guys.

Look how Kaka rated in this years world standings even though he did Carlos. Drogba should of been above him, the difference, there personality and attitude. one a saint the other...

adedawson

Senior Squad
yeah that's right, kaka the saint. A nice attitude paves the way for international acceptance. Hence the Kaka vs Drogba comparison, the latter being the far better player last season but not reflected by the fifa pro top 10.

match is less than an hour away ... lineups are out ... Zhirkov starts at LB for you guys ...

Inter start with either a 4-3-3 formation, or a 4-3-1-2 (Pandev as the trequartista) ... Thiago Motta will be the weak link, I reckon ... hopefully he makes me look a fool for that prediction, I would be more than happy (but I seriously doubt it) ... Sneijder's been left on the bench for whatever reason; he will come on if Inter need a goal, that's for sure ... can't wait for this one to begin!

EDIT: hmm, lineups are changed from my source ... Sneijder does start ... Inter looks like they might be playing a 4-2-1-3, or a 4-2-2-2 ... interesting, and definitely something different from José, which is why you gotta love him (as a "neutral") ...

Turnbull in goal for you guys ... all that discussion about Hilário and his reliability seems to be redundant now ...
