How anyone can say that United played well is beyond me. Apart from Rooney who at least tried hard all the game, the rest of this team are pants. The same Ferguson tactics employed today resulted in a loss to Liverpool, but he used the same system today.

!0 men defending and try to get a goal with the counter attack. Ugly football, and I should know having seen my team do it way back in the past.

Fergie gambled on Chelsea playing gung ho football, and when he realised we were not going to make his job easy today, by Chelsea playing a more conservative and patient game, his counter attack strategy was doomed.

That's one big advantage with having older, wiser and better players. They know that sometimes you have to be patient and wait for that chance, whereas if you watch this United side, they are in a state of high emotion and panic from beginning to end.

I know this United team is supposed to be a makeshift team, but really if this is what Ferguson is left with, then United are in a bigger mess than I realised.

Evans belongs in Sunday League football. He is an indisciplined little thug with very little talent, and he should have seen a red card today.

Atkinson the ref, was just rubbish, but I think the video panel will look at the Evans assault and should give Evans a post match red. Droga's card being a yellow cannot be rescinded. How fecking stupid is that?

Its a shame that the ref gave Valencia only a yellow for the studs up lunge on Lamps too. That was a leg breaker if there would have been harder contact, but now he has a yellow thanks to Atkinson, that will be the end of it.

I am all for a good hard game, but United have players who's lack of skills are made up for with aggression. Not chanelled aggression that is possessed by good players, but psychotic tackling that rarely wins the ball, and only gives away free kicks or takes out the opponent. Fletcher is a perfect example. He is a plus to the opposition, because he simply cannot tackle fairly. It takes more to be a good player than simply having a bad temper, but then look at his mentor.

The best football team won today without a doubt.

Great, now I've got that off my chest....YES.....YES.....AND YES YES YES(Y)

Like Jose and Guus, this guy has fitted into the club with great ease. Instantly likeable and pays attention to the fans too. He walks around the entire pitch shaking hands and speaking to people, and you can see by their reaction that they love him already.

Charasmatic people can do that I guess, and Carlo gives off a vibe not unlike Jose and Guus used to.

This is a guy who knows what he's doing. We know it at Chelsea, and I think the rest of the League know it by now too mate.

Brilliant game, brilliant result, we're 5 points clear of Utd.
Don't need to add anything anymore since I think everything's been summed up perfectly already. :D

What an effin disgrace Evans is. If it was Drogba who did it, I'm sure it would've been all over the Daily Mirror by today. Hopefully he'll get what he deserves.

On the lighter side of things, I found it funny to see Anelka and Terry both celebrating thinking it was their goal. Terry later said he thinks Anelka got the final touch but is still claiming the goal as his, while Anelka knows he got the final touch but doesn't give a toss about it. (Y)

We played well due to the fact most of us thought this game would be another Liverpool. And the tactics were totally different. I could go on all day about players like Valancia who are so negative to that type of play, stalling, passing back, very indecisive in decisions loosing the momentum. Or even Giggs who would rather play down the middle now. Its more like trying to counter attack these days. Evra and obertan combo look like we might get our speed back.

The tactic was to try over run your midfield with 5 of our own. Which worked to a certain degree. Your midfield was definitely stopped from reeking havoc.

That's one big advantage with having older, wiser and better players. They know that sometimes you have to be patient and wait for that chance, whereas if you watch this United side, they are in a state of high emotion and panic from beginning to end.

you seem to forget that the bread and butter of our team is about to retire. Unfortunately we have been riddled with injury.

berbatov, owen, nevillie, giggs, scholes, vds, rio, brown and then there's evra, vidic, Oshea, park ji sung, Carrick which ain't exactly young, 28ish. literally half of them were part of the 99' trebble team.

I know this United team is supposed to be a makeshift team, but really if this is what Ferguson is left with, then United are in a bigger mess than I realised.

Your telling me, the strongest parts of our team being defence and counter attack for the last 3-4 seasons have been measured, and have been found wanting. Reliance on players like Giggs. 8|

Its not all doom and gloom though, younger players are getting better and better and its not like there's a lack of speed, things need to gel. The Evra Obertan combo for example is looking very nice but even that's early days

Evans belongs in Sunday League football. He is an indisciplined little thug with very little talent, and he should have seen a red card today.

Its not very often things like that happen, he's young he will learn. He's saved us numerous times and is getting better and better.

I'd hardly call him a thug, the lads a toff lol. He went to Belfast Crème de la crème Grammer school and got 9 A-A* in his exams which will give you an idea of his background. He's a very pleasant and well mannered lad and disciplined with an iron fist.

I don't approve of what he did but you wont see him do it again. Unlike other certain players that act fools game after game, truly embarrassing but I already know what you think off him.

Atkinson the ref, was just rubbish, but I think the video panel will look at the Evans assault and should give Evans a post match red. Droga's card being a yellow cannot be rescinded. How fecking stupid is that?

They really need to bring in video refereeing instead of 20 refs on the pitch that there thinking of doing and testing. Would put an end to all this. I quick mic check upto a video ref in a booth, problem sorted. Works in Rugby. We would never get any of the problems that have been talked about in the media of late.

I am all for a good hard game, but United have players who's lack of skills are made up for with aggression. Come on now, every team has there fletcher's including you. Its part of the game and things have come a long way but I doubt it will changed or stamped out completely. It would be so boring if the game turned to 'touch football'.

The best football team won today without a doubt.

Yeah yeah, rub it in, have your moment :innocent_smile_1: Lets hope you win something this year, we would hate to see terry cry again.

To be honest, I think this is your year, but it wont be easy, tight till the end.

I'm glad we have a player and captain like Terry who wears his heart on his sleeve, and I really want JT to lift up the CL trophy just to shut up the Utd fans who keep going on and on about the CL penalty miss.

Although with last night's goal I think he's buried his ghosts against Utd once and for all. There was an indication of relief during his press conference when mentioning about his goal.

International break coming up, with most of our players already qualified with their respective countries apart from France and Portugal I can only hope that it doesn't affect the we momentum we have going too much.

Talking about internationals, what do you think you guys will do when the african cup of nations comes along? Not far to go now. Lucky the transfer bans been over ruled for now. I guess you may have some serious spending to do at Christmas?

Zakov

Senior Squad
Ancelotti said probably no more spendings, since January isn't a good time to sign players anyway. Luckily for us, the fixtures we have during the ACN aren't so bad. We're capable of coping without a few of our key players.

Di Santo will probably get recalled back again tho.

I imagine Di Santo and Carlos Cork will be recalled, although we will have definite lack of exeprience up-front in that time. Anelka and Sturridge/Borini/Di Santo is not ideal, but considering the matches, we should do well enough.

We will probably need to try a different formation sometimes. It's a great learning opportunity for the young strikers/Matic/whoever gets time, though.

I'd rather we recall Stoch but we can't since he's on loan for the season, he's been doing well for McLaren's FC Twente.

We don't need him though. Where would he play, even during the AFC? Right, left or AMC? Those are covered. It's the DM and ST positions we'll have problems in. He's playing every week at Twente and has been impressive. I wouldn't recall him, I'd wait for the season to finish and then, if in pre-season he seems ready, work him into the squad.

I've read in Gazzetta dello Sport that Abramovich made a 19 mil offer for Sampdoria's striker - Pazzini .. what's your take on his possible arrival on Stamford Bridge ? I can't remember the last italian player I saw playing in England .. maybe he'll turn out out be the next Gianfranco Zola ..who knows..

If this is the way you judge players, then Drogba is the most untalented footballer ever for his cheating. Judging a player on a single challenge is just plain stupid. I bet you have never seen him playing before.

And by the way that hit on the chest didn't seem intentional IMO. Both were going for the ball and Evan's boot hit Drogba in the process. It should be a foul only I believe but not a red card as many of you guys are claiming. And if Drogba wasn't overacting as if he's been gunshot in the chest, he probably wouldn't get that yellow card for "diving" which he shouldn't have got.
