yeah, i surely don't understand where the animosity comes from, i mean, in england, even if you hate, its hatred with a sense of humour, for instance, City and Utd fans, when it comes to football, the rivalry is massively intense but its not like the City fans hate Utd out of nothing, its because they enjoy hating Utd...........like when I say I love hating Arsenal, etc..

I hope this clears things about gloryhunters:

I don't care how long you've been following a certain football club, but u haven't got the right to deny another person from being a fan as well, even if they're only jumping on the bandwagon.

IMO, a true fan stays with the club during the good times and importantly, the bad times(just look at Leeds fans), so its up to the person to identify himself whether he's a true club supporter or not.

got to agree with u for this one ;)

Jose will always be a legend at Chelsea if only for our back to back titles. For sure Avram has now created history for Chelsea too. He is the first manager to steer us to the final of the CL, and also to drag us from the gutter to the position we now have in the EPL. All in the space of LESS than a season. IMO Avram Grant has already added his name to Chelsea history, and if we win the CL final, he will indeed become a legend.

yea, let me remind u another thing. when this lad was announced as our new manager, everyone ...i mean EVERY SINGLE PERSON (including me) predicts that this is going bad to chelsea...they're going downslope after this blabla bla..

but now?

even if we lose epl...i have to give credits to him. i mean, look..this year has been one of the most exciting race for the title..avram certainly had done his job, well 70% i shud say.
+ he even brings this team for the first CL FINALL!!!... Jose took three years or so to bring us there but fail, while avram had done less than 8 months i think ;)

now Grant, just give us the title(s) & everybody will loves you :D hehe

btw:

Anelka Ineligible For Bolton Clash - Report
Nicolas Anelka will not feature in Chelsea’s final Premier League game against former club Bolton Wanderers, according to reports.
The French striker moved to Stamford Bridge from the Reebok in January for ₤15.8 million, and due to a new ruling introduced last year he may be ineligible to face his old club on May 11.

The ruling states that no player can play against a club they have been loaned from during the season. It is the same situation that forced Jermain Defoe to sit out Portsmouth’s clash with Tottenham earlier this year.

The problem arises because – according to The Sun – Anelka was initially signed on loan by Chelsea.

Blues boss Avram Grant was keen to draft in the former Arsenal hitman prior to Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham on January 12, and hence a loan deal was hastily agreed on the Friday beforehand while the permanent deal was sealed a week later.

Anelka’s absence could prove crucial, as Chelsea chase the Premier League title and Bolton seek to avoid relegation.

Chelsea request that the Premier League grant a special allowance so the ex-Real Madrid man could play, but their case was dismissed.

Well, I certainly had my own reservations about Avram when he was appointed manager after Jose's departure, but they were the same reservations that I held, when every manager we have ever had was appointed.

I've never been a big fan of big name managers. Most of those guys have a few successful years that earn them some kind of reputation, followed by long periods of failure or semi-failure, that last the rest of their careers.

We have a proud history of giving guys new, or relatively new to the management game, a place at Chelsea. Tommy Docherty started his career with us. With NO managerial experience at all, he won us promotion back into the top division in his first season. He later managed Man U too.

Dave Sexton began with Chelsea. He won for Chelsea the FA cup in 1970, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1971. He also managed Man U after he left us.

John Neal, another relatively unknown manager. Saved us from relegation into Division (fu<kin') 3 in 82/83 season. He inherited a club and a team in absolute turmoil, but after he found and signed such players as, David Speedie, Kerry Dixon, Pat Nevin, Nigel Spackman and Eddie Niedzwiecki he won us promotion back into the first Division in 1984.

Ruud Gullit began management with us in '96, and won theFA Cup in '97.

Gianlucca Vialli took over in '98. That season, he won for us the League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup and Chelsea finished 4th in the EPL. The following season Chelsea won the European Super Cup by beating Real Madrid 1-0, and finished 3rd in the Premiership, just four points behind champions Manchester United in what was Chelsea's highest league finish since 1970. He won the FA Cup in 2000.

When Avram Grant was appointed after Jose left us, his appointment made me feel the same reservations that I felt, when all of the above managers were appointed. With all around him slagging him off and showing complete disrespect for a man they knew nothing about, I remembered our past. I was more than happy to give the guy a chance. My reasoning was, as it has always been as a chelsea fan. The club had decided that Avram was their man and as a fan, it was up to me to support my club in that decision, as I had done for so many previous Chelsea managers.

I admit that the insults and the critisism aimed at Avram, have been and still are quite upsetting for me. It also makes me very angry when some of our own so called "fans", join in with the character assassination of this man.

We have had a VERY SMALL minority of "fans", who have been very anti-Grant from day one. These morons have helped to give to the media, other fans and the rest of the World, a public image of disharmony at the club, and fed the hostility and disrespect aimed at Chelsea from all quarters.

These people are NOT long term, die hard Chelsea fans. They are arrogant, ignorant, disrespectful and disloyal to Chelsea. They have the nerve to demand a manager with established calibre that befits a club of Chelsea's "stature"?

If they were long term die hard fans, they wouldn't have the misplaced sense of superiority that they feel Chelsea have. Most of those people do not know or care about our struggles to continue to exist as a club, that has plagued us throughout our history. They demand what is in their opinion, the best of everything including the "best" managers.

The real fans of our club do not feel the same way. We love our club and we love our team through thick and thin, and there has been plenty of thin believe me. With that history in mind, the average chelsea fan is a much more humble fan, still struggling to come to terms with the fact that we are now beginning to grow so very big.

We are grateful and thankful that we were lucky enough to have Roman buy us up. Here's a guy with so much money to give who is hoping to take Chelsea to another level, and he is a football freak to boot. Without him we would no longer exist as a club, but that never stopped the same so called "fans", from also giving him a hard time over the last few years.

These people sicken me to be honest. In most peoples eyes they epotimise the typical Chelsea fan. The truth could not be further away. They are not typical of the restof us in any way whatsoever. They are an embarrassment to the club and to the rest of us, who do not need to use the status of a football club to feel any self importance. They are simply morons.

Top post, mate. I actually (and enjoy, because I don't say this often :p) have a lot of respect for Chelsea. I obviously have my own reasons for, a long time ago, having picked Arsenal as my favorite English team. I can even say it's the team that I most closely follow, second only to Porto obviously.

But nonetheless, the only dislike I have for other English teams are only when they play against Arsenal. As a matter of fact, I have always liked teams like Chelsea, Tottenham and other Londoners, if only for the fact that that town breathes more football than any other in the world. So I have a massive respect for all of them, and in Chelsea's particular case, I never had anything personal against them. Great respect especially for the last 4/5 years; not because I jumped the bandwagon(I will always prefer Arsenal), but because what Abramovic did was not tare the club down and make himself a company, but instead pick up a club that had his own history, and make him one of the contemporary greats. More respect when he signed Mourinho, not only because what Mourinho means to me as a Porto fan and Portuguese, but also because I reckon it was the best move Roman could have made to lift Chelsea to that feared, respected club status. If anything, I'm sorry Porto didn't keep José.

All in all, what I'm saying is that even though I trash Grant all the time, most of it is in jest, and probably a lot of it is jealousy of what the man accomplished in his time at the club. I continue to say in all seriousness that he didn't do it alone, but then again, nobody has ever done anything alone, particularly in football.

So congratulations to Chelsea for this season, that, even though might not win you anything, was a sign that the Mourinho story has ended but Chelsea FC's will continue.

there, I've said it, I was feeling emotional :D

oh and I obviously hope you get relegated next season :p

well guys, I have to say after seeing the Hammers getting thrashed by Utd, it looks to be a lot more less likely that we'll win the title this season, even after pushing Utd this far, but if we do manage to finish level on points with Utd, that should satisfy us nevertheless.....
Seeing as Wigan won against Villa, I believe Steve Bruce's team season is over, and Bruce wouldn't mind doing favours for his old club(He's already done one tbh).

Hopefully our team would keep pushing on against Newcastle to ensure our great run of form continues to our clash against Utd in Moscow.

I've seen Di Santo in action, and I believe we have a potentially great striker in the making here, not only he's tall but also very mobile, his finishing is good(he's scored 7 in 8 in reserves, top scorer for the reserve team) but what I noticed is that he's a team player. Watch out for him if he gets into the squad next season.

cheers

Well, West Ham are in more trouble than I thought they were. They are absolute sh1t. They play like a League 1 team. Perhaps that's where they should be. Either that or there may be something in the way they performed that suggests that they did indeed roll over for United.

Curbishly's statements the day before the game hardly inspired his players for that game. I've never seen a manager say those things before a big game like that. Very wierd indeed.

Anyway Zakov, It isn't less likely that we will the title at all. It just makes things tighter and more exciting thats all.

....and, if it turns out that we do not win the title this season because of the goal difference, then it will be very satisfying to know and remember, that we finished on the same points as them. That indicates that the one advantage that they had all season was that one player from Man U had an exceptional goal scoring season, while ours either under performed or were not available.

We have had a very difficult season in all. It started off badly with Jose losing the plot so early and leaving us. Then a new manager is brought in with the season already underway. We have had another season of very important players being injured long term, or going missing too (the ACN for example).

We have had the media hacking away at us as never before. Not only digging out the new manager and his assistants, but even concentrating on the negative aspects of some of our fans too, with the intention of destabilising the club.

To see the media trying so hard to assasinate the character of Avram, from his religion to his physical appearance was the lowest that they have ever sunk to in their mission to kill us off. I can honestly say that never have I seen such a concentrated and personal persecution of an EPL manager in all my years as a fan. I don't think I have ever witnesed anything as disgusting and shameful than the personal attacks that Avram has had to endure since he arrived here.

It's normal to commentate on coaches over results of course, that happens to all coaches in the media, but this was different as we all know. This was very personal and ugly, and the newspapers certainly reached an all time low, and lived up to their name this season as the gutter press.

So bearing that all in mind, and looking at where we are as a club this season, we have to be proud of ourselves, and we need to be proud of each other.

From Roman at the top, the manager, the coaches, the players and the fans are gonna finish this season with a great sense of achievement and harmony. This has been a demanding time for us all, and we have come through it intact.

We can still win the League and we can still win the European Cup. There's only one other club in the EPL that can say that. That puts both clubs on a par, which considering the adversity that we have endured and overcome this season is nothing short of amazing.

Hopefully one day soon, our club will be allowed to stabilise. One day people will realise that we are here to stay, and will tire of the constant bitching and purile insults aimed at us, and realise that their behaviour only feeds us to give that extra bit more.

Whatever happens for the rest of the season, this season has been more indicitive of what Chelsea is all about than the previous 3 seasons. In those seasons we had everything pretty much our own way, and it helped that our fellow EPL teams were under performing too. This season has been totally different and we are still where we are. That is incredible.

Chelsea have always been a club who will not give in. We have always had bottle and we have always fought to the end. No amount of money can buy a club that kind of attitude. It comes from years and years of struggling to overcome difficulties, while all around have already written us off.

Nobody writes Chelsea off without eventually looking stupid. We have always been, and will always be a great club. I don't care for this childish argument about whether a club is "big" or not. We are a great club and that makes us BIG, and that is all that matters.

The double is still on.

I understand m8, its still not over but the reason why I think its less likely is due to the fact that Wigan's manager is Steve Bruce, like Curbishley(whose comments b4 the game like u said didn't do the Hammers or us for that matter, any good)

I just have a sneaky feeling that Bruce is going to make things easier for Utd by resting maybe a few key players or summat, since they are safe from relegation........

I don't know mate, but its just a feeling I have since Bruce did say a few things about getting messages from the Utd contingent after they drew against us at the Bridge.

But tbh I don't care about that, whether we win the title or not, i'm immensely proud of how we handled ourselves this season after all the problems that we had which u summed up in yer post, pete.....
obviously, i would want us to win, but its not in our hands anymore, and i know in football anything can happen but in the meantime all we could is win our remaining games and see how Utd do against Wigan.

Like u said, the double is still on. Lets hope the players won't let the Utd win yesterday get to them(which i don't think will happen). I reckon we've got a tough battle against Newcastle coming up. They always seem to make things hard for us.

Come on Chels!!

Great win against Newcastle, one of our so-called bogey teams when we play them away from home. Great performance all-around, for once Malouda performed quite well in this game for 90 minutes. The only sour note is Riccy's injury, don't know how serious it is, but hoping that its only a minor knock.
This result ensures that Utd have to win against Wigan to keep the title, and that the Premiership will be decided on the final game of the season. Can't wait for the Bolton game at the Bridge on Sunday. I want to see the new kits in action as well.

AS the 2nd half begun, they were saying how you would typically want to wait for around 15 minutes to see how things were going before making a change(Joe Cole/Lampard).....and almost exactly on the hour mark, Ballack scored. Dissapointed that Viduka got injured...Newcastle fell off without him.

Well, perhaps everyone is entitled to at least one good game in a season huh? Maybe he will be consistantly better next season. Most players need time to get used to the EPL, although as far as Malouda is concerned I still have my doubts about him.

Good game against Toon. We were fortunate to see Viduka leave the field though, as he was making himself very busy, and doing really well.

JT said that the players took a severe bollocking at half time to motivate them, and I think they needed that. The second half was much better though. Drogba has put in some nice assists this season, and Ballacks headed goal came thanks to a delicate chip from Drog, which Ballack must have been grateful for.

The second goal was beautiful football of the highest order. Well crafted, crisp passing and the vision of Lamps. I love this guy.

So its up to Wigan now to force a draw, or even beat United on Sunday, and the title is ours. We still have to beat Bolton of course which is not an easy game.

Steve Bruce will not be thinking of doing us any favours though. On the other hand, he is very likely to do one for United. I hope they don't do a West Ham and roll over to get shafted, but if thats what they wanna do, then there's nothing that can be done about that.

This is the first time in 40 years that the 2 leading teams in the English top division, have been equal on points going into the last game of the season. Just thought that was interesting.

Fergie has said that this Man U squad is the best ever Man United squad. Well. seeing as we go into the final day of the season on equal points, and remembering what a dismal season this started out as, I think that says a lot more about us than them.

Chelsea have amazed me this season, and I am so pleased with the way things have turned out after all the crap early on.

Get ready to see Lamps sign a new 3 year deal. Drog is not going anywhere either, as he has stated about a billion times, he is staying at Chelsea. Ricci and Essien are being chased by Real Madrid, but both have turned them down to stay at the Bridge. You won't see this stuff in print yet, but you will soon. Fu<king hero's all of them.

Avram Grant on closing the goal difference on Manchester United: "Can we win 18-0? If we could play teams that would let us, we would."

Speaking of humour, pete, I couldn't get any sleep so I decided to go net hunting for something to crack me up.......

and I found Ballack's Week Diary: taken from http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8751_3528313,00.html

here's how it starts..............

Samstag/Saturday
JA! It is so easy, Manchester United comes to the Bridge as England's champion and is leaving like a small child covered in tears. In the first half my header is too strong. One - zero. I drifted into the gap like a fußball ghost and BANG!

Then Riccy Carvalho makes a small error and Wayne Rooney scores. But the crowd are not abusing Riccy, they know he has made a great season. After that arrives the highlight, it is my penalty.

All the paper and TV is asking me after the game 'did you feel the pressure before the spotted kick?' I laugh at their stupid small faces. I love pressure, it drives me! And I blast the ball in the goal. Tor! If you fear the pressure you should not be a fußball hero. Remember, when the chips are down on the table, the tough come in the kitchen.

Sonntag/Sunday
Relax day. I went with my childrens, partner Simone and Riccy to Madame Tussaud's house of wax. For some minutes Riccy thought the dummies are real people. He asked me, "Mikey, why is Prince William and Elton John so quiet?" I explain him that they are made of candles.

Dienstag/Tuesday
We are making light trainings before the Liverpool half-final. Just soft stretchings and runnings. I tell Frank Lampard some advices about penalty shooting.

Later we watch the other half-final of Manchester and Barcelona. It is a nice match, ja. But I feel sad for Barcelona. They lose to a team I destroyed alone.

Mittwoch/Wednesday
Wow! What a big game. We were made scared by Liverpool, but we have reached Moscow. I knew Lampsy will score his penalty. He made a German-style kick and we were all so proud of him.

It is incredible, I am incredible. In 2003/04 Cheslea is in the half-final of Champions League but without Michael Ballack in the team. They lose. In 2004/05 Chelsea is in the half-final without Michael Ballack and they lose. In 2006/07 Chelsea is in the half-final without Michael Ballack (I had big injury) and they lose.

Tonight Chelsea is the half-final of the Champions League with Michael Ballack and they win. Ja! Mit Herr Ballack Chelsea ist die finalist! I am the magic ingredient in this football meal. I am the keystone of the plan scheme.

Liverpool is out. As Sir Alan Sugars says on his nice British TV programme, "You are SACKED!" I love The Apprentices Show. But why do they call him Sugar? He isn't sweet. Riccy has some nightmares about Alan Sugar's big, crinkling leather beard face. He tells me in trainings.

Donnerstag/Thursday
My head is banging, we had the party after the game. It finished at 4am in a London discoclub. The DJ was playing up-tempo musics as we were drinking much champagne and blond lager beer. At one point I went to the DJ and asked him to put on some of my favourite songs. But he didn't have Robbie Williams. He tells me only house music and dancing numbers. I don't care so much. But I know Riccy was upset when he couldn't listen the songs of his preferred rockers Chris De Burgh and Bryan Adams.

Freitag/Friday
Now the games against big clubs are finished until the final in Moscow, I can relax for a while. I want to go to the zoo with Riccy. He loves to see the animals.

Montag/Monday
As I am expected, a relax game against one of England's provincial northen sides with vociferous fans, all who wear the black and white tunic. Chelsea was feeling edgy in the first 45 minutes, but I calmed them in part two mit my excellent goal. Didier (we are of course friends, the argument over the free-kick ist forgotten) crossed the ball and I made a glancing head. No player of Newcastle was challenging me. They defended like some classical England's pub team. This is why you don't see England at Euro 2008. Who leaves the captain of Deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft alone in the penalty zone? I punished the Geordie Army!

Now we have one more game to decide the champions. My cash money is on Michael Ballack and Chelsea FC to win the Premier League and dance around covered in smiles and blond lager beer. Then Moscow falls to Michael Ballack and Chelsea FC champions of Europe 2008. The party is waiting. Ja!

I make the next part of my diary after Michael Ballack and Chelsea FC are lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy. I love my life, I am Michael Ballack, a great talent and a hero to the Germans and Londoners.

END

Now, b4 u slag off our German Hero, bear in mind, if he DID wrote this(according to the CFCNET blokes, he did, although maybe they were being sarcastic), i think its all just a great sense of humour from him.

I like how Riccy is always the butt of his jokes and probably the best quote by Balli:"But I feel sad for Barcelona. They lose to a team I destroyed alone."
As soon as I read that, I was rofling!!

Zakov.....that diary is indeed a fictional piece of satire man, but it is amusing alright.

Wigan have cancelled a rugby game to be played on their pitch prior to Man U's visit next Sunday. Dave Whelan, Wigans owner says that he would like the pitch to be as best as it can be for United. So, every other team in the EPL have had to play on that nasty pitch this season, but for Man U an exception will be made. Whelan is of course good mates with Fergie.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article3882925.ece

Steve Bennett will be the ref for the Wigan/United game. He has sent Ronaldo off twice, and he is one of the refs that Fergie has hit out at this season. Lets hope Bennett sees this game as payback time. :)

Chris Foy is the ref for our game. Oh dear.....:(
