Well I can't speak for Arsenal but I'll tell you straight, Chelsea would never, and have never prevented a player representing their country. If that was the case we could have kept 14 of our players at the Bridge instead of letting them play "meaningless" (which they are not), friendlies.

TBH, Ronaldo and Nani must have agreed NOT to go too because if they really wanted to play, there is nothing Ferguson could have done about it. Its a bad scene all round. The club and the players blowing out the National team. Very unprofessional, sneaky and so Man U.

Help?

our Lamps couldn't even recover in time for the Boro game(flu) and Fergie once labeled him a physiological freak.....

3-4 years ago, he pretty much was. Was there 1 season when he played in like every single EPL game of the season? The man looked like he would never get tired.

pede: sure, but in such situations it might be even to the benefit of Scolari to have Ronaldo rest, rather than fly to Portugal, then straight back to England, then to Rome and back to England in a week and have 3 games in between. It was Portugal's doctors that advised Scolari not to take players with him and it was Scolari with the final decision, so really i don't see what's the big deal about it.

no big deal, just a deal...and the deal is that if they had said that, everyone would accept it...they didn't have to try and hide it..

well, i think he still is as fit as they come, must've been a nasty flu I reckon, since he missed both the England and Boro games.........
But we will want him up and running against Fenerbahce, hopefully he recovers completely in time...

well fellas, we're up next, after Man Utd did their bit for England now its our turn to show why we think the Premier League is the best league in the world....
Old Kezza would be back against us as will Anelka against Fenerbahce, hopefully we'll come through with a decent result..................
and hopefully Liverpool can put one over Arsenal so we can put one over them if we get through.

Come on Chels!

well we lost, and personally i think Grant got the substitutions wrong again...he shouldn't have subbed Lampard because once he had gone off we looked lost in the middle of the field, Malouda played decently i thought for once but he should've made way since he lacked games with us, Makelele was constantly giving the ball away, and Drogba was being his moaning self, we should've put this one to bed early in the second half, and once they equalised we knew that they were coming guns blazing, and nothing we could about the 2nd goal, just top draw....
but now we need a win at the Bridge and we can't concede goals....what could've been so easy just went so much harder.........hopefully we'll still go through regardless what happened tonight.

cheers

oh man, what a bad this is... yeah, u could think, it aint bad, we scored, so we can go with 1-0 at home, but we were winning... i didnt watch the game, i had only live commentary, but from what i ve read... it kinda reminds me of tottenham draw not so long ago... underestimating hosts... and giving up after one, two goals they scored (btw, was it really that beautiful shot?) i read that players were so shocked after second fener goal... oh...

No disrespect to Chelsea team what so ever, they are a "almost" perfect team.

But Fener has a really talented squad, and a magician called Zico.
Also two important wingers, Gokhan Gonul and Roberto Carlos was missing today. They will be fit to play in London and i think it will effect the game a lot.

Who will qualifiy?
I think its almost %50 - %50
Chelsea needs to score goals and with home advantage its not that hard to do. But Fener is a very determined side and just doesnt give up the game until the final whistle is over. So i think its all going to be about how will Fener attackers will play abroad, if they score just a single goal, it will be very hard to get back for Chelsea.

Also, what a goal by Deivid, dont you think? :)

yup great goal by Deivid, nothing we could do about it really, but your player that impressed me the most was Colin Kazim Richards(ex-Sheffield Utd) really looked he was on a mission, had Zico not brought him on, we could've won quite comfortably, since we were comfortable enough until the equaliser came.....
should be a cracking game at the Bridge, im sure our supporters would do our best to top your supporters today, we need to come out attacking like we did against Olympiakos, i can't wait for the 2nd leg!!
We would probably have Petr Cech back then, so you guys got something more to deal with.
Sure it would be hard if u scored first at our ground, but after seeing your defense in the 1st half looking so shaky, I reckon we've got enough to turn the tie. Don't forget we are unbeatable in all competitions since Barca in 2006(63 games and counting), like your stadium is to yours, our home ground is our fortress.

How about them Fehner boys?...shocking the world so far, I thought Chelsea would dominate, but it took something special and that second Deivid goal was ridiculous!!...amazing strike

Zakov

Senior Squad
well we did dominate, once they equalised, we started losing grip.......credit to them for unsettling us, but the 2nd goal was out of nothing really, but u can't deny the quality of the strike tho......the equaliser was down to poor defending and good finishing from Kazim Richards....

Good game, and the result is ok too, although obviously we should have won this. We all knew Fener would keep at it until the final whistle, and we must of been aware of their capability to come back from behind as they did against Seville. So what went wrong?

Not a lot really. We dominated the game for an hour, although I thought Fener came out for the second half looking much better than they did in the first. It looked very likely that Fener were about to stage another comeback, and I thought we really needed to step up a gear to deal with it. We didn't step up a gear. Instead we became annoyingly cautious and edgy.

Drogba was oh so wasteful tonight, and greedy. Twice he could have easily put through a Chelsea player who was in a better position to score, but he just refused to pass the ball, and he wasted so many chances tonight.

I thought Grant should have switched to 4-4-2 when he added Anelka to the game but he didn't. The subs were too late and Malouda, despite having a fair game should have gone instead of Frank. I really do prefer Wayne Bridge to Ashley Cole as our left back. Wayne is a much better player in my opinion. I'm finding Cole very annoying lately.

So 3 good goals for Fener, and thank God one was in their own net. Very dissapointed that we didn't find the net ourselves of course, but the woodwork and poor finishing from Drog made sure that never happened.

So it's looking good for the return leg. 1-0 or better to us and we have the tie. It will be a completely different game to tonight of course. We have taken indifferent away results back to the Bridge and destroyed Barca and Olympiakos, to name two clubs who have suffered to us at home in the CL, so we know what to expect from us in the return game.

Lovely strike by Deivid though for Fener's second goal. Very nice goal indeed.

Volkan deserves a lot of credit too. He kept Fener alive all night I thought.

Yeah, probably the most goofy looking goalkeeper yer'll ever see at the CL but he did great for Fenerbahce!! :D

OK fellas, we've got City coming up in a couple of hours, lets hope we could repeat the form we had when we last played against them, so that we could bring in a positive vibe going into our QF 2nd leg against Fenerbahce, hopefully Avram doesn't tinker too much since we still have a good chance in the Premiership.

Come on Chels!!

P.S - Where have dipset, Mandieta6 and Nettles gone? Busy with life maybe? Lately its been quiet around here unless we lose or draw 4-4.................:shades:
