League One Player of the Month. That'd have pride of place at his house

I always saw him as a tragic figure like Van Basten.

I'm also intrigued that he got a CL Winners Medal with Man U in 2012.

I'm terrified to holiday through and see what happens under his watch. For one, I think this is the perfect end to the story. The other thing is that he's apparently a terrible judge of talent and a horrible tactician; he also seems to prefer the 3-5-2 for some reason. You can see why I am nevertheless extremely curious about how it might go.

Well the AI is ridiculously stupid, so that wouldn't help. He would sell players that don't need to be sold, allow players to rot, rather than rotate etc etc.

I was just wondering, did Chelmsford generate any top class players? Out of the current squad some of them should be from our original youth team with the facilities, scouting range and recruitment network at the top level. Is it possible to make a Chelmsford youth products XI? (If anyone can be bothered, I can't load the game.)

Daly was a youth product wasn't he? And as much as I wanted him, you fuckers never gave him a run.

Not really. I read through this recently, so I'll direct you to the posts starting here

If you count all the players that were at Chelmsford from age 16, or played a year in the Reserves, then yes you can put together a great team (basically the entire current starting XI). But if you want guys who came through at the beginning of the year, then no.

So with that in mind, the best youth product was defender Tom Shaw. The only other two of note were Paul Perry (Tottenham keeper; Spurs are a yo-yo team) and Cliff Rowe (who is about Championship caliber).

E: Okay, I'm going through the squad now. Kyle Cole is from Chelmsford too. Tony Morgan was generated as a free agent and I signed him as a 16 year old, so he's never had another pro contract.

Where did we get Daly from? I thought Rowe was another of those guys that could have been better but was never given much of a go

Rowe is shit. Daly, honestly, is a great player because of his mental attributes; he's still not an exceptional technical talent. You bought Daly from Crystal Palace, that's probably why you like him (H)

Tom Shaw was our own John Terry, he was brilliant, I had high hopes for him. Kyle Cole I felt bad for because he had some good stats but strange physical stats and looked like he simply wouldn't carve out a niche. If I remember correcrly he managed fine, though.

I wasn't sure if he was a youth product one of my seasons, or I bought him.

I see him as a Stevie G style player

30/31 was bound to be a year of transition and upheaval at Chelmsford, with Jean-Claude Vinet imposing his vision on the club. The most interesting difference is that Vinet preferred the 3-5-2 formation, which if you think about it, actually suits the team quite well. The only player really left out is Toon Aerts, although he is also capable of playing on the wing. It affords much more of an opportunity to Cklamovski and Shaw in the starting lineup with Nemec and Berisha. It also keeps the 3 man midfield and 2 strikers. To be honest, some fans even questioned why Pablo Castro didn't think of it first.

In any event, Vinet oversaw the second great exodus from the club; some of the outbound transfers being extremely controversial among the fans.

What's more, Vinet did not make a single blockbuster transfer, instead trusting the quality of the players already in place. The season got off to an interesting start in the Community Shield.

They also continued the tradition by winning the European Super Cup

The Champions League Group was weak, prolonging the amount of time before Vinet would get a true challenge

At the end of 2030 the team traveled to Los Angeles for the Club World Cup and easily won, continuing the Chelmsford tradition

Unfortunately, the FA Cup run ended early against Tottenham, and a youth side was defeated at Castro Park in the League Cup 4th Round by Stoke. This is Vinet's preferred XI

You may be shocked that Tony Morgan is the greatest beneficiary of Vinet being appointed manager. He seems to have seen a bit of himself in the young player (*cough* been saying it for 10 years *cough*). The other player getting a lot more playing time is Iulian Nemernicu who is enjoying a bit of an Indian Summer to his career in this 5 man midfield. Juric is mostly on the bench, unfortunately.

It's going to be the case as with every great player turned manager. We're going to forget his legendary playing and start hating him when he starts losing/selling certain players!

I really wish I could create some drama here, but the truth is that the second half of the season went swimmingly for Vinet and Chelmsford. They won the first leg of all their Champions League games 3-1, which effectively put them through before the second leg was even played. In addition, they led the league all season and took their 14th consecutive Premiership title rather comfortably.

The most impressive feat being Tony Morgan winning English Footballer of the Year after sitting on the bench for about 10 years at Chelmsford. Vinet saw something in the kid, and Morgan repaid his faith.

The Champions League Final was against the ascendant Everton

Chelmsford were outplayed, but a 30 yard screamer from Rafinha in the 30th minute was all that Vanderlay and his 3 World Class defenders needed to secure the victory at Celtic Park.

Here are the stats. In addition to Morgan emerging, Nemernicu had a brilliant year averaging over an 8 for his rating deployed on the right wing mostly. Sandor had his best season yet, freed up by the flat midfield to get forward more than in the past. All 3 strikers were prolific with Filiz being the top scorer. The most impressive performer in my mind was Chelmsford's own Terry, Tom Shaw, who turned in 6 man of the match performances, tied for most on the team. Juric was seldom on the pitch, but was great when given the chance. He turns 36 this summer. Aerts and Nsingi were not played often, which is unfortunate.

Shaw ahead of Cklamovski or whatever his name is surprised me...and it seems the Aussie was disheartened by it. His worse season in years.

Munoz still a gun :)

Interesting how little he played Juric. Maybe trying to preserve his own records!?

Nemernicu on the wing at that age was interesting too - not much pace. But he seemed to do really well!

Seems the board decided with Vinet they were turning over a new leaf and gave the instructions that the club started needing to support itself financially.

Great for Shaw, Sandor and Filiz but Nsingi and Aerts are class! Aerts was such an awesome young FB! He could play either wing and had killer speed! Train him to WB Vinet! Also, what the fuck? Selling Delimnikov?

It should be:

Filiz - Metcalf
Cirillo - Nsingi - Sandor - Delimnikov - Aerts
Berisha - Shaw - Nemec
Vanderley

Cardozo is a much more complete player than Aerts, especially for a wing position. I do agree with you about the rest of the lineup though; Delimnikov was probably my favorite player the last couple years aside from Filiz and poacher Metcalf. But really, aside from him, Vinet didn't really sell anyone THAT important.
