It would be a tricky shot, but Gillardino could have tried to dribble the keeper, attempted to hold the ball waiting for support to come from the midfield, blasted the ball into someone for a corner or, hell, anything else... seriously, someone should make an animated GIF and use it to illustrate the Wikipedia article on diving
