A Barca fan gave me red rep with the comment "get over it" for this post.

Well...

I apologize on behalf of the human Barca fans...I guess every team has idiot followers and ultras and didy.

Barca cannot beat any English side with 11 men.

FACT.

A win's a win. Ask ManPoo after yesterday. Ask us after the final last year.

Congrats to Liverpool... Excellent match, they stymied us. We need Eto'o back to go for a win at Anfield.

Is it me or Barcelona players just fall down too easily? Don't get me wrong here, I don't mean "dive" but they seem to take advantage of every little contact being made.

Yeah... sort of like Vidic and C. Ronaldo :mrpimp:

.....and the vast majority of footballers these days. (just to avoid starting up a kerfuffle with the ManU fans, also because it's true :()

You're sure doing a great job of that calling the team "ManPoo".

But I said it with love :$

Anyway, you should know by now I respect your club and was just messing around. I never post crap in your thread and I always say what I have to say with respect. I was just messing around with the ManPoo thing, don't take it to heart.

You just had to resort to that sort of comeback didn't you? :p

Didn't have to....

But it illustrates a point. I will freely admit that Barcelona players do it. When they win a penalty or a free kick I'm just as pleased when they score. It is smart.

Just like not putting a player on the ball until the referee calls you off on the free kick is dumb.

I'm well aware of the whole idea that it's "cheating" and you shouldn't do it, but isn't that the whole point of the simulation rule?

Then again, for every time a player allows himself to fall too easily, there are probably the same number of instances where players are taken down and it isn't called, never mind all the holding and shoving at free kicks and corners.

It's so much a part of the game that when you don't do it well, you get a card, but when you do, you get your team an advantage, sort of like tackling.
A poor tackle could get you booked, a good one could save your team the match. So from a certain point of view, diving could be seen as a football skill as valuable as tackling or shooting. From a certain point of view. (just ask Obi-Wan)

Anyway, I'm somewhere in the middle on the whole thing, but I like to put forth a different POV on it, since there seems to be mass condemnation of it all the time.

After seeing the first leg results, these are the teams to go through in my opinion:

Valencia, Liverpool, Roma, Chelsea, Madrid, Man. Utd, Arsenal and Milan

Completely agree. I'm very happy for the result for Valencia in Milan and for Liverpool and Benitez.

I agree but I wouldn't be so sure about Madrid and Roma. I think Bayern and Lyon have an equal chance of going through..

I don't see Bayern winning to Madrid. When Real have a "bad" season, they always reemerge in the last moment. For this I said that Madrid - Bayern was clear for me: Madrid. They have a lot of strong ans history, and I'm tired of see Real playing bad and having a lot of criticize and then winning a cup.

Roma - Lyon was a surprise for me. I was sure about Roma, but Lyon is a very hard team this season, so let's see.

Barcelona will have a very difficult match in Anfield, and Benitez knows a lot Barça...

I was surprised Lyon didn't beat them. I don't think Roma will win this one. Lyon is too good a team.

Senior Squad
in France, it will be close

I bet Lyon will score a goal then Roma will equalize in like the 70s

1-1 Roma go through on away goals

ya I have a feeling Roma will knock Lyon out for some reason.. seems like they could be one of those dark horses this year

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
I don't think arsenal will through, just a gut feeling. Roma better watch themselves, an early red card wouldn't surprise me. Valencia will really be a wakeup call for Inter.
