Ronaldo has been cut from both the Qualifiers and the Confederations Cup. Parreira said it was nothing personal, and not a punishment. Rather Ronaldo felt he needed time off because of his own personal problems and because he needs rest since next year he intends to play in the 2006 world cup

Ronaldo is an arsehole... but I'm guessing it's not only him...
There was a time when being called up for a national team was about pride... not now I guess... Ronaldo wants to rest AND play against Argie and Paraguay... He thinks he's irreplaceable but imho he hasn't been playing well for Brazil (I don't know about Madrid)
It'll be nice to see Grafite against the argies... hope he keeps it to the field this time (and so do the argies)

I think this rest is exactly what he needs. He just needs to get away. As a person you need that. How much do you need to prove for a team before people start giving you a break??

i am with ronaldo on this.

i think there's still pride involved when being called for the nt.

there was a time when the schedule was not so ****ed up. there was a time when confederations cup didn't exist. the pride is related to the brazilian people thoughts, not to cbf orders. now if you ask people how important is the confederations cup for them, i guess most will say that is useless. but people know the importance of the qualifiying matches, therefore they want ronaldo and other star players to play them.

anyway, it's nice to see a player opposing the cbf.

The news on Brasil is that on Sunday Parreira will play Robinho and Adriano up front. I think Oliveira is better than Robinho but, theyre grooming Robinho to be an amazing star, so he needs the practice.

Why only Ronaldo bitches about wanting to rest? I understand it's a worthless tournament and everything but you either want to play for your NT or you don't... I hate it when people think they're too good for something, just like Daniele Hipolito's going AWOL on the gymnastics team... There are players who played just as much as Ronaldo and still don't complain... Ronaldinho is bigger than Ronaldo atm, but he still wants to play in the confed cup...
I'd like to take only the important classes (for me, which would be only english and computing) and exams but guess what if I miss the damn history exam "because I'm tired", I fail... If someone skips work because he "wouldn't be important on that day", he's fired...

The CBF sucks, but I fail to see how wanting not to play for the nt in a competition but still wanting to play for another is going to help... a way to get them out would do like the tennis players did at the davis cup but in the World cup... chances of it happening? 0...

I agree. You're a player, not the coach. You're not supposed to chose the games you want to play and tell your coach about it. He either fields you or not. You cant field yourself when you feel like it. If he needs a break, he needs a break. If he doesnt feel like playing at the Confederations Cup, then how he's up for it for the Qualifiers? Didnt he need a break?
