Valon Behrami (born 19 April 1985 in Mitrovica, Kosovo) is a Swiss midfielder currently playing professional football for S.S. Lazio of Italian Serie A.
Born in Kosovo to Albanian parents, Behrami moved to Stabio, a village in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, due to war when he was only a child, and he then obtained the Swiss nationality.
Behrami started playing football in Swiss sides FC Stabio, FC Chiasso and FC Lugano. After a number of impressive appearances with FC Lugano, Behrami was jointly signed by Italian teams Genoa and Udinese, and played the Serie B championship with Genoa in 2003. In 2004, Udinese sold its rights on Behrami to Hellas Verona, and therefore Behrami moved to the gialloblu side, again in Serie B. After an impressive season played with Hellas Verona, Lazio signed him in the summer of 2005. He is used to wear the #85 jersey, as he does for Lazio. He has made € 6 000 000 so far in his professional career.
Behrami has also been capped for the Switzerland national football team at the Under-18, Under-19 and "A" levels. However, Behrami has also expressed the wish to play for Kosovo if the area should gain independence.
For the Swiss national team, Behrami scored a very important goal against Turkey in the Stade de Suisse in the last 2006 World Cup barrage.
During the World Cup he endured a grion injury which put him on the side for the first two matches. On the third match he was subbed in the game, in the 88th minute. He did not participate in the goaless loss to Ukraine in the final 16th, round. Some feel that the decision by coach Kobi Kuhn, not to put Behrami in the game was a very poor mistake

Thanks for the info. I guess him and Karimi would be the only players that don't speak either German or Spanish.Kaiser Payne said:He's 100% kosovar, albanian.
He just got the Swiss nationality in order to play for Switzerland NT, becuase the Albania NT didnt promise him much.
Kosova is not still an official country (soon to be, this year deff.).
Anyway..
Here's the full bio of the dude:
To Vince:
Behrami is an advanced midfielder.
Position: Right winger, right back, precisely.
So he could be a good replacement for Deisler.
Silencer said:Ruud van Nistelrooy will be presented tomorrow as the new striker for Real Madrid, Dutch media report this.
They wait till tomorrow because David Gill will be back from holiday and he want to talk to Calderon personally but it's a done deal. Both clubs and RvN reached an agreement so he is going to be a galactico not a Bavarian sorry guys.
Are you sure? I know he lived in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, but I'm almost sure that he speaks German.-Vince- said:Thanks for the info. I guess him and Karimi would be the only players that don't speak either German or Spanish.

It was just a guess as he's only been living in Italian speaking communities so far.Elber2k3 said:Are you sure? I know he lived in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, but I'm almost sure that he speaks German.
Tifon said:The same of 05/06 season, except this time i think they will have the three stripes of Adidas, just like the ones used in the last Champions League.
-Vince- said:Bayern are not going after any Juve players. Rummenigge:"I had a discussion with Magath about some of their players but we don't want to financially help a club that did shameful things in the past years."
He also confirmed that a transfer of Ribery is off the table.

Ha, I tell you we're heading into the new season without any midfield reinforcements. Watch out for Bremen owning us again this year as they have the better midfield, strikers and Mertesacker will improve their defense a lot. And they have 1/2 of our budget.
-Vince- said:They want as many teams as possible to have at least one star but at the same time avoid that the stars completely cover Bayern's jerseys.
